I'm sorry if this questions has been answered, but can I use this bundle for my 2nd graders?

Yes you can. It was made for 2nd-5th graders. The first part of the resource is about setting up and running guided reading. That is useful for any grade level. As far as the reading sheets, there are first grade reading level worksheets included, since many 2nd graders are reading on first grade level. As your second graders go through the year, and grow in their reading ability, you can begin using the third grade pages with your better readers. Thanks so much for the question, it has not been asked before! : )

Thanks so much for your interest!! I always put everything in my store on sale at 20% off during the site wide TPT sales. Then you get my 20% plus another 10% off from the site. To get the extra 10% off, use the code that is on every store page during the sale. A big sale is due in August! I don't know the date yet. In the meantime, you can download free items from my store on page 4. I'm going to be adding more freebies later in August. You will find other freebies on my blog: http://dragonsdencurriculum.blogspot.com
Hope that helps!

Each time I post a new product, you will get a notice in your e-mail. Every time you follow any seller, you always get a notice when they upload a new product. When you see that Dragon's Den has added a new product, visit my store within 48 hours and you will see that the new product is marked at 1/2 off. That's all there is to it! I am currently working on a unit on elections. It should be in my store within the next 5 or 6 days. I believe at this point that the regular price will be $6.oo. So, it will be $3.00 for you and other followers during that 48 hour time frame.
Thanks for following!

I always go to bait stores in my area. They sell night crawlers at a number of gas stations for fishermen here. I put in "night crawlers plus the name of my town" into google just now and a number of places came up. I do suggest night crawlers, since they are big enough for kids to see easily. When I first started doing this unit I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find worms, but honestly, they are sold in a lot of places you wouldn't expect! I know your kids will enjoy the activities as much as mine did! Thanks, Jan

Since it is in PDF format (as it must be as per my contract with clip art.com), it is not editable. You will need to write or print on it with pen. The other way to do it is to print out what you want in word, then send the printed page from the resource, through the printer again. Just put it in upside down. Then your printing comes out on the page. Getting it lined up right can be a bear, but it does work. I hope the helps. Jan

Thanks for your question and interest. When i first made the task cards for third grade I didn't include the game. It was just the task cards. As I expanded making task cards for second and fourth grades, I started adding the game at no extra cost. i went back and added the game to the third grade task cards as well. Long story short, the game is included, but I didn't increase the cost. it's just a bonus, so it would not be less expensive to just get the task cards. The price would be the same. If you are still interested, you could just skip printing the game. I hope that helps.

Thanks for your question. As students answer each question correctly, they get an Information Magic Card. It's just a way to keep track of the questions they get correct. At the end of the game, students count their Information Magic Cards. The student with the most cards wins the game. I hope this helps make it a little more clear, and I am so glad the cards will be helpful during workshop time! If it is still unclear please let me know!

Hello,

Love the product, thank you for making. I might be wrong, but I think you might want to put an apostrophe on Page 8, when the reindeer says, "The feelings mutual." I'm not sure you're supposed to contract feeling + is, but if you're going to, I think you want an apostrophe.

I think you may be right! I've done a quick search and can't find anything on this particular usage, but it makes sense. I'm going to change the sentence to, "The feeling is mutual." I'll do that later this afternoon (I'm on my way out for the day). I'll have it corrected and reloaded by tonight. You can download the new version then.

Thanks so much for your question! Making predictions is a great strategy! Use that one for sure. For second grade I would read it to them first. I often have kids (third grade) draw a picture of what they see in their heads as I read. This helps with comprehension. Then they can share their pictures with the class and explain why they drew what they did. Sharing and seeing what other kids drew also helps with comprehension. As a follow-up I give teams of two the letters to read to each other. I only read one letter a day, then add in experiments, relevant videos and so on for the rest of the lesson. Hope that helps! Enjoy teaching about the moon!!

Thank you so much for your question. I am not sure if your schedule would be suited to this resource, however I have included what each activity entails. I have not included specific activities for younger students in the descriptions below.

Morning work: How many words can you make out of the letters in "substitute teacher"? (can be an alone or partner activity)

It's All About the Book: Students answer 3 questions about a book/story they read, (plus a second page to give a story summary). Next students use the same book/story and create a cartoon to tell the story in six pictures. Finally, students are asked to tell the story from another character's point of view. All together this activity comprises 4 pages starting with the easier task, and moving to the more difficult.

Think it Up: Making a Good Story Problem: Students get with a buddy to make four math story problems, one about money, one about place value, and one about whatever they choose. They then trade their questions with another team's questions to figure out and answer.

What Would You Do? Three posters are given with situational questions. Students discuss what they would do and why in small groups, then share with the group. When finished with the three questions, students state what they learned about problem solving in a group.

Who Gets the Phone: This activity gives students the opportunity to think of multiple ways of solving a problem. It is a higher level thinking activity.

There is also a page of activities for the sub to do if there is extra time.

As far as preparation: you will need to copy all sheets you wish your students to complete, as well as substitute directions. You will need to provide a read-aloud book, or state which story you want students to read independently. You will also need to provide paper for a couple of the activities.

I hope this helps in your decision making. If you decide to purchase it, I hope it serves you well.

Thanks,
Jan

First of all...thank you so much for your kind words! It's always nice to know other teachers like my resources!! As far as this particular resource is concerned, I think it would be difficult for first graders. However, it would depend on their overall reading level. If most of your students are reading above the first grade reading level, it would work. Otherwise, it may be too much for them. I hope this helps!

It is a very good way to introduce second graders to carrying and borrowing. It makes the whole process very concrete. With older students who were confused with the process, I had to go back to the second grade "tens" to start to build understanding. In my opinion it is the perfect introduction, especially for second graders.

I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. It is well done. You might consider offering just a couple of the activites as free and then mention on the last page that entire packet can be purchased. Many of us use that as a marketing strategy. Check out my freebies below to see what I mean.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Consider adding a second page which is a directions or suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product. Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations.

If you have time, I’d appreciate your input on one of my freebies listed below.
