This is a really useful resource. It has good graphics, although i'm not sure how best to use the houses etc. the kids wave them all over the place, turn them sideways and generally don't use them to the max. but i think that;s the age of kids i'm working with. I am a new drama teacher, and find it so hard to match these littlies with suitable materials! I think as a flannel story, they are EXCELLENT. but i don't have a flannel board!!

i printed, cut and pasted every person so that they were not a bag puppet but stick puppets! My little kids find bag puppets hard to handle and i find they don't last so long with my rough bunch! Also in Aus, the bags are really hard to find. The faces and characters are imaginative, and the kids really like them. I would buy this resource again for sure.

No, we purposely do not include a picture with each new word. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to tell if the student is actually sounding out the word or just looking at the picture.

There are three large faces that you could use as masks: a female fire fighter, a male police officer and a male chef. A set of career stick puppets is included, as well as over a dozen flash cards pictures that can be enlarged on a photo copier. Also available is a title we publish called Career Paper Bag Puppets. There are seven roles in the play (Mama Pig, the 3 pigs, a salesperson, the wolf, and a narrator). The Narrator has about a dozen speaking parts, so it could easily be divided among up to 12 students. The salesperson's role could also be divided into 3 different salespeople. So, yes, the play could be adapted for 20 students. The lines are very simple with lots of repetition, making it an easy play to memorize and perform.

I seem to be the only person having trouble downloading your product. It is so big and the largest size paper we have is 8" x 14" and it still cuts off over half the page. Do you have any ideas what I can do to print this. I've zoomed, reduced print. custom size print and it's still cutting it off.

The words all start with a capital letter because they form a complete sentence when stapled to make the flip book: "Bed ends with d. Seed ends with d. Cloud ends with d." etc. In this way the students can read a sentence, noting that a sentence begins with a capital and ends with punctuation (in this case, a period). We have other flip books that feature just a word, all in lowercase. For example: Short Vowels, Long Vowels, CVC words, etc.

I am new of common core lessons and trying to find and get a better idea. Do you teach all the counting and cardinality together, then move on to next standard, or do you mix standards up like counting and cardinality with geometry.

In talking to other teachers about this, I have discovered that since the standards are new and that most school districts are still using officially adopted math programs, most teachers are trying to match new standards to the old program whenever possible. Of course, this doesn't always work out because they often do not match and many of them are not covered in the old programs. Those teachers who are using just the new standards mix them up. For example, they teach simple shapes first, then numbers 0-10, go back to 3-D shapes, and then teach numbers 11-20, with all of the other standards mixed in there too. Hope this helps.

After downloading a couple of your really cute flip books, I noticed that the size of your page is 13x17. Do you know if there is a way I can resize these to print them? I have a home printer and worked printer (at a school) but none of these will print wider than 11 inches. I am not that adept at working with .pdf files, so I didn't know if they could be resized.

Hi. I purchased this and tried to print the pig masks, but they are too large for the printer. It leaves about an inch off of each mask. Do you have a file with the correct size to be printed? Thank you.

When you are ready to print, click on "fit to page" or "shrink to page." Check "print preview" before printing to make sure sizing is correct.

Dwayne, I have never seen circula used before. Encierra is what I use and have always seen used. Is this a dialectal thing ir perhaps an error?

love it. Question: I know a lot of your items are also available in Spanish. Is there a way to note on these that there is also a Spanish version available (and you could note on the Spanish versions that there is an English version available)? That way I won't keep emailing you to ask if there is a Spanish version. BTW: is there? :)
