Jennifer Young  (TpT Seller) re: The Hunger Games Economics Unit
We cover a lot of eceonomic concepts in my Marketing Dynamics class. Is this something that I would be able to utilize? Can I possibly see a sample? Thanks.

It depends on what age students you teach as well as which specific econ concepts you'd like to cover. This particular item (The Hunger Games Economics Unit) is meant to be integrated with students reading the novel and is best for middle school students. I do also have several other products that can be implemented as stand-alone lessons, and they span the age range from kindergarten to college.

For a sample of the Hunger Games Economics Unit specifically, visit datax.teacherspayteachers.com/Preview/The-Hunger-Games-Economics-Unit.

Thank you very much for your interest!

How long do you think the unit will last----book and lessons? 3 weeks?

I've had lots of teachers take one chapter a day, doing two or three chapters a week. At that pace, you'd finish within about four weeks. Thanks for your interest!

I just bought the book from you on ebay. I plan to use it with my 5th graders. Do you think they will enjoy it?

It's great for fifth graders! Boys and girls all like the mysteries, but the book especially resonates with boys who identify with Striker and his best friend Bill! I'd say 5th grade is at the top end of the reading level, but they're at an age when they can do a lot with the economic concepts.

Hello, I am confused at what the difference is between the 2.99 the 6.50 and the free products are on Striker Jones.

Hi Amanda!

The non-free products are each my novel, Striker Jones, just in two different formats. The $2.99 product is Striker Jones (the novel) as a pdf download. The $6.50 product is Striker Jones (the novel) as a paperback, which I will mail to you (and be happy to sign to your class, if you like!). The free product is a series of ten lesson plans to go along with the novel. Hope this is helpful!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I specialize in economics enrichment for kids and love showing them how economics is fun and affects their daily lives! I am the author of a children's mystery book that teaches economics, and I am beginning a new position as an adjunct professor of economics for a four-year private college. In the past, I've taught in grades three through six. I'll be developing more products soon, so if there is a particular economic concept you need an activity for, please let me know!
