Current High School English teacher in Southern Arizona. I have a Master's in Education and have taught college English as well as 8th and 9th grade English for the past five years. I teach primarily English as a Second Language students.
My teaching style is whole class learning with cooperative learning and differentiated instruction thrown in. I believe in fast paced instruction and plenty of hands on work for my students. Homework and continuous reading is a hallmark of my teaching work.
Most Valuable Teacher award during my first year of teaching in Reno, Nevada. Shining Teaching Moment is that I still hear from students that I have taught from years ago and the thank yous I receive for being a "hard-but-fun" teacher.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Political Science. A number of years later I obtained a Master of Education degree. Teaching is a second career for me, having followed a career in politics. I continue to take graduate course work in Leadership, Creative Writing, and any other classes to further my mastery of teaching well.
I am married, have been an elected official and worked in Southeast Asia for several years in a USAID capacity.
