To respond to your question..I would like a refund for both Reading and Writing (which I stated in the original refund request) since I can't use either for my 3rd graders. I appreciate anything you can do. Thanks!

I have submitted your request to the TpT customer service. They have been prompt with responding, so I don't expect the refund to take long.

I downloaded your Writing and Reading CELDT test prep books and after I downloaded them they say they are for 6-12 on the handbook but your description says 3rd which is what I went by. They are too sophisticated for my 3rd graders - thought it would be more primary... I just cant use them and hoping for a refund?

I'm so terribly sorry about that - I'll be sure to modify that description. I don't mind issuing you a refund, but I can't seem to find that option on my end. I have submitted the question through TpT's Contact Us ticket, and hope to hear something soon. Also, I noticed you purchased the Reading and Writing - would you like a refund for both, or just the Reading?

Thank You,
Briana

Buyer re: Grammar Quizzes (7th Grade) just like the STAR exam!
Hello, It states in my package that there is a free download on the TPT website-I have not found access to these downloads and now you're telling me there is only a lesson for two of the quizzes? This is not what I paid for-a quiz w/o a lesson is not very helpful.

I have noticed some mistakes in Pronoun-Antecedent Mini Lesson 3. #1, 3, and 10. Have you gotten any other feedback about corrections? I didn't check it before I handed it out, and my students noticed that there are errors.

Hi, Briana. I purchased your MLA practice and tests....but the test is missing #16 and has two #23s. I'm not sure how to read the answer key now because it doesn't match up with the numbers.

Oh my! I am so terribly sorry about that! I will try to make the corrections by tonight. Once I do so, it will provide an option to email buyers with an announcement that there has been an update and should invite you to re-download (which doesn't charge you). I'll message you once I've done so. Again, my apologies! ~Briana

I've updated the file, but need to try to upload tomorrow due TPT kicking me off the site each time I attempt to upload the file. This should be completed by tomorrow at the latest - you will receive an email update with confirmation that this is ready for you to download.
Thank you for your patience! ~Briana

Tracy Fordham  (TpT Seller) re: Grammar Quizzes (High School) - just like the STAR exam!
Would it be possible to get these quizzes in a editable word document? I know some people don't like to do that, so I understand if that's not possible, but I teach high level 11th graders and I would need to beef up some of the questions by adding something a little more challenging. My class feeds into a dual enrollment class next year that uses a pretty tough grammar for writing book. I would love to use your stuff so I'm not totally "recreating the wheel." Yours is the best I've seen to meet my needs...Thanks

You mention getting quizes from your website. Where can I find your website to attain the quizzes? I teach honors 11th graders and need challenging grammar. I'm boring them to tears with what I'm using right now. Any suggestions?

Yes - there is an answer key for each quiz, along with a short description as to why that answer is correct and why the other choices are not. There is not, however, an answer key for the practice exercises, which I will work on creating over the next holiday break. Thank you for your question!

Is this up-to-date with the 2009 MLA changes. I noticed in the thumbnail you used Bibliography instead of Works Cited.

Thank you for catching that! I have been using them interchangably because I noticed both terms used in state testing ("Bibliography" is used in the 10th grade test released questions - http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/cstrtqela10.pdf - and "Works Cited" is used in the 9th grade test released questions - http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/cstrtqelagr9.pdf).

Let me know if you notice anything else! Thanks!

Absolutely! Most grammar topics are introduced in elementary school, but are expected to master by high school. My collegues use these Mini-Lessons in intermediate and high school settings among special education students, English Learner students, general ed, and honors students. I also recommend the the Grammar Quizzes - it includes the lesson to teach each of the grammar topics to the students. Hope that helps!

I just took a look at the CELDT Test Released Questions for grades 3-5 and it looks identical. In fact, I might just change my packets to reflect all grades (only K-2 show real differences). If there is any difference between the 3-5 and 6-12 test, it would simply be the number of questions for each section. If you download the "Preview," you can compare that with the Test Released Questions to see the similarities.

Hope this helped! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Do you have any materials for elementary school age students?

Hi! I don't have anything specifically for any one grade level, but if you compare the test released questions at, say, grades 3-5 in Speaking, you'll see it's pretty close to what I've created (refer to page 38 on the test released questions http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/el/documents/celdtrtqs0111.pdf). The only difference is perhaps the way the students' responses are graded. If you tell me what grade or range of grades you're looking for, as well as the CELDT area you're interested in, I can compare the two for you and either give you the go-ahead to get what I already have, or make some adjustments to make it more grade appropriate for you.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After spending years in the field of marketing, I have found a new passion as an educator. Specifically focusing on Language Arts, I enjoy creating lessons that prepare students for state testing to help expose the students, prepare the students, and ultimately assist them with becoming more proficient with key communication skills.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use "backwards mapping" when planning each unit. I begin with selecting the appropriate standards relevant to my unit/lesson. Then, refer to test-released questions on state testing to see how these standards are tested. This creates a framework for which I create lessons to help scaffold and teach to mastery in each class. It is said a person needs 28 repetitions of any given new concept for a student to master, so I use this methodology to create and review concepts throughout the year.
