TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After spending years in the field of marketing, I have found a new passion as an educator. I taught Language Arts for several years and am now an administrator with an expertise in testing. I enjoy creating lessons that prepare students for state testing to help expose the students, prepare the students, and ultimately assist them with becoming more proficient with key skills.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I used "backwards mapping" when planning each unit, beginning with selecting the appropriate standards relevant to my unit/lesson. Then, I would refer to test-released questions on state testing to see how these standards are tested. This creates a framework for which I created lessons to help scaffold and teach to mastery in each class. It is said a person needs 28 repetitions of any given new concept for a student to master, so I used this methodology to create and review concepts throughout the year.
