Lorri T. re: Where the Red Fern Grows Common Core Aligned Literature Guide
Are there actual boxes on the Summarizing and Note Taking pages? The preview does not display any boxes on those pages.

Yes, there are boxes there. I apologize. Our Sample was damaged, and it has been replaced, as well as the actual product, just to make sure. I hope this helps!

Buyer
I purchased the Because of Winn-Dixie guide and am very pleased with the quality and complexity of the resource. I am trying to use just what I need - and reformat some of the material to use with my class (for example, cut and paste the Kate DiCamillo biography into a word document to make it more "friendly" for some of my students.) The security settings do not allow me to cut and paste even though I purchased the resource. Any suggestions?

Buyer re: Sarah, Plain and Tall Common Core Standards-Based Literature Guide
Rather than leave a poor rating I thought I would ask you to solve my problem with this product. I have looked for the Common Core Standards and don't see them for Sarah Plain and Tall. I have to cut and paste them into my lesson plans and see nothing that connects the content to the standards. This is very disturbing because I feel like I have paid the highest price for this product on Teachers Pay Teachers and am not getting what I paid for. Maybe you can show me where the standards in this teaching unit are.

Do you have novel units for Ramona Quimby Age 8 or Ramona the Pest created and correlated to Common Core?

No, we do not have those yet. Which would you like better? We create our Guides by popular request, and as each title gets to the top of the list, that is the one we make next. This is frustrating, I know, but we do our best! I hope we can accommodate your requests in the near future.

Buyer re: The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963 CCSS-Based Literature Guide
I will be purchasing this for an advanced fourth grade classroom. I really feel like I need to see more than the four thumbprints I can view. This is a lot of money to purchase this unit but if it's worth it I am willing to pay the price for the unit. I'm really curious as to how the other pages are laid out. Could you help me anymore with the content of your unit?

Thanks, Martha Miller

The best way to view our products is to go to our websites, either www.4secondarysolutions.com or www.4elementarysolutions.com. On either site, you can view pages for the Guide you would like to see, just by clicking on the name of the Guide, then going to the page on which it is located, then to the bottom of the gray box. There you can click on View Sample Pages and see what we have to offer. The actual address for Watsons is http://www.4elementarysolutions.com/The_Watsons_Go_to_Birmingham_1963_Literature_Guide_p/lg13488.htm I hope this helps! Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Stephanie Weitzman  (TpT Seller) re: The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963 CCSS-Based Literature Guide
I would like to use this book for a "read-along" for our Social Studies unit for a fourth grade class. We would be listening to the book on CD and reading along with copies of the novel, do you feel this resource and the book are appropriate for fourth graders? This is a very diverse group with quite a great deal world experience. Thank you for your advice. Stephanie

I absolutely think this would be a great resource for your fourth grade students to use as a read-along novel. I do not think the content is too much for their minds to handle, and it presents some concepts that allow them to expand their views and understand the world around them. When we write our Guides, we follow the Common Core Standards and if you have looked at the grade levels just below and above your own grade, you will have noticed that the standards are very similar, simply building upon each other. So, even though the Guide itself was written for grades 5-6, you will find that it covers most of the same standards that your fourth graders are expected to cover. Hope that helps!
Good luck and enjoy!

Kathryn Malara  (TpT Seller) re: The Watsons Go To Birmingham - 1963 CCSS-Based Literature Guide
Hi! Just curious, are the CCLS standards for the Watsons go to B'ham literature guide for a specific grade? I teach 5th grade and I'm using the novel for guided reading. It seems like your resource would save me A TON of time and effort- especially if the standards are aligned :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Elementary Solutions is a division of Secondary Solutions, which was founded by Kristen Bowers in 2005. A high school English teacher, Mrs. Bowers grew frustrated and tired of trying to get by with lessons that did not meet her or her students' needs, and decided that if grade-level appropriate materials were going to be available to her and other teachers, she was going to have to make them herself. Joined by a colleague with 21 years of full-time teaching experience in middle school and upper elementary, Secondary Solutions began, and has matured into a specialized team of intermediate and secondary teachers who have developed a set of materials unsurpassed by all others.

Completely Common Core Standards-Based, Elementary Solutions™ materials will guide teachers and students through the often arduous task of teaching (and learning) the standards that today's students are expected to master, while enabling the teacher to continue to introduce great literature into the classroom, fostering a love of reading among students. Just as Secondary Solutions was created to address the concerns of the middle and high school English teacher, Elementary Solutions was started to address the concerns of those in the elementary school classroom.

Before the innovation of Elementary Solutions materials that were available often included unsuitable questions, unfocused activities, and frivolous, trivial, or even downright silly worksheets and activities, and most often, the standards were not addressed or even alluded to.

Elementary Solutions provides all of the necessary materials for complete coverage of the literature units of study, including author biographies, pre-reading activities, chapter questions, graphic organizers, literary analysis, critical thinking activities, writing ideas, extension activities, quizzes, tests, alternative assessment, and so much more. Each Guide is designed to address the unique learning styles and comprehension levels of the students in your classroom, paying particular attention to Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives. Our Guides also include teacher materials, as our focus is on helping you to teach the standards!

Our Guides can be used with whole-class instruction, small-group instruction, and are even effective enough to use with individual student-led instruction with little to no guidance from the teacher. You can hand out these materials in your classroom and feel confident that your students will be getting the instruction they need to be successful in state and local assessments.

As a busy teacher, you don't have to waste time reinventing the wheel. You want to get down to the business of teaching! With our professionally developed teacher-written Literature Guides, Elementary Solutions has provided you with the answer to your time-management problems, while saving you hours of tedious and exhausting work. Our Guides will allow you to focus on the most important aspects of teaching--the personal one-on-one, hands-on instruction you enjoy most--the reason you became a teacher in the first place.

Elementary Solutions--The Solution is Elementary!
