Leave another Q&A with your email address and I will send you the unzipped contents of the file. You will need either Examview or Word to be able to open the files as they are in those formats. Right now to open the file you need to use an unzip utility -- if you are using Windows, double clicking on it should work, since there is an unzip utility built right into the Windows operating system.

At any rate, I can help you when I have an email address. I can see your username but TpT keeps your email private from me even though you have bought the product from me.

I hope to hear from you soon,

Elise Parker

Hi Elise--
I just purchased your Vietnam Wall Memorial Questions. I love the question, but am having a tough time with the link & finding the video. Do you know if this has been moved and of a new link? Thank you!

Hi Gnocco77,

Thanks for getting in touch with me about this. It looks like the Smithsonian channel has removed the free video they had posted on YouTube. I found a 45-second free preview of the video here:

http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/site/sn/show.do?show=131377#video

Unfortunately, I could not find a completely free full copy like used to exist online when I made and posted these questions. However, I did see that the Smithsonian Channel is selling downloadable copies of the full video for only $2.99 through iTunes. You can see that option here:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/tv-season/war-stories/id382122005?i=383911177&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

A downloaded copy would be in mp4 format and would play in iTunes -- with a projector you could have the whole class watch it on a screen, the same as would have been true for the YouTube version.

I am sorry if this has inconvenienced you in any way -- I did not know that the Smithsonian had pulled the plug on their free content.

Sincerely,

Elise

P.S. I will edit my listing ASAP

Debra Leschyn re: Interactive History Games -- Post-War and Cold War Years -- JUMBO set
I would like a version of this smartboard lesson that is not password protected so I can change some of the questions, for example, to reflect more closely what my students are doing. Thank you.

Of course. I am sorry the password got in your way. I always put one in by default so that students could not go straight to the answer key. The password on all of my smartboard files in the same one: igloo.

Sorry for the inconvenience. You may find that you want to keep some kind of password on them, otherwise it is possible for a student playing the games to change the answers to wrong ones or delete them entirely. If they then saved the file, you'd lose all your hard work.

I purchased this and cannot open the zipped files. I downloaded the software to make that possible after downloading your file. What should I do to make it work? Also, is there a way to print the quizzes without the answers? Thank you...

Any computer should be able to open a zipped file using software built into the operating system. I will ask the staff at TpT to help you.

As for quizzes without the answers, you can print just the quiz by opening the .rtf file with your word processor (such as Microsoft Word) and going to your print menu. There should be a place where you can specify a page range to print. Print just the pages that you want -- the first few pages are the quiz questions, the last few are the answers.

Oh, thank you very much. I find the interactive activities to be very engaging for students. I'm really happy if other teachers are finding them equally fun and useful in instruction.

I'm glad your problem was solved. The .rtf file contains an answer key directly after the questions, which means it's on the last couple of pages of the file. Enjoy the movie questions!

I just purchased this product and in the description it said that I would get the test questions and an answer sheet. I do not have the answer sheet. Can you help me out with this please? thanks!

The answer key is provided in the .rtf file -- the first few pages of the file will be questions; the last couple of pages are answers. I don't sell any products that lack proper answer keys -- it's my belief that your purchase entitles you to a fully workable product from the start. <p>Elise

hi,
the lesson looks awesome but im having trouble opening hte "notebook" file, do i have to have a smartboard to do this lesson?

You don't need a SmartBoard. You do need a program that can open Smart Notebook files. There is a free internet application that can do this, located at http://express.smarttech.com/
<p>
Load that address into a web browser and then choose file--open to open up the .notebook file.
<p>
Please let me know if you have any other questions -- I'm happy to help!

The Examview program can open both .tst files and .bnk files. Run Examview and then choose "Open an Existing Question Bank." The difference between a .tst and a .bnk is that you can combine .bnk files to make a .tst files. I think that was why I made these as .bnk files -- so that you could combine them as you like to create tests/worksheets. In Examview you can't merge one .tst with another -- you have to export them as .bnk files first.

Please don't hesitate to reply if you have any further questions.
