Yes the flipcharts will definitely work with SMARTboards! They do not however work with Notebook. You will need to have ActivInspire (used to make/use flipcharts) which is like Notebook software for Promethean ActivBoards. There is a Personal Edition of ActivInspire that you can download for free from the Promethean Planet website! Here is the link:

Thanks! As far as adjusting the text boxes, I may have a solution. You may be having to adjust the text because you don't have the same font I used to make the flipchart. Check to see if you have the font Marker Felt on your computer. That is the font I used throughout most of the flipchart. If not, you may want to consider downloading it (you can find it for free). Hopefully that will make it so you don't have to go through and adjust each page!

Love the vocabulary worksheets to go along with the Treasures units. I have lots of different vocabulary worksheets that I rotate, this will give me another option. Love that they already have the words for the week printed out, and the students love the space to illustrate word.

Hmm I'm not sure. I don't know what a binary file is so I dont think it's supposed to do that. The flipcharts were made using a Mac computer so I don't think that is the issue. Do you have ActivInspire on your computer? That's the software you need to open them. If you don't you can download the Personal Edition for free on the Promethean Planet website. If that doesn't work you might have to contact TpT and ask if the can help. They are usually pretty good at that! I will try reposting the file also to see if that helps!

That's how I played it with my class. Even though two kids had the same board, I didn't have 2 winners each time due to one student either not knowing the answer or not paying attention. We even had several double winners when the boards were different. Even when there were 2 winners it didn't bother my students. They were still practicing synonyms like I wanted so I feel like the objective of the lesson was still being met no matter how many winners there were. If you would like all of the boards to be different, I have included a blank board. You could put a list of the words on the board and have the students make their own board by writing in the words in whatever spaces they want. Like I said though, be prepared to have more than one winner even when the boards are different! Hope that helps!

I use them mostly for teaching whole group reading, but they could be used in a center. I'd say your best bet would be to download the First Day Jitters flipchart (it's free!) so you can get a better idea of what they contain, and then decide for yourself if you think it's something that would be useful in your classroom.

The flipchart is pretty interactive, and it would certainly be easier to use with a Smartboard or Activboard. However it could definitely be used without one. As long as you are able to be near your computer while you are teaching to control things, it should be fine. All of my Treasures flipcharts have a pretty similar layout. It might be a good idea to try out my First Day Jitters flipchart (it's free!) to decide for yourself if you think you can use it before purchasing. Also, you will need to have ActivInspire software installed on your computer in order for the flipchart to open. "Flipchart" meant for use with SmartBoards...I do not have one, so that term is new for me. I've just purchased 3 of your flipcharts...so sorry. Is there any way for them to be used in another format, as the files will not open at all? Otherwise, could I have a credit for use with other products. Flipcharts are the presentations created with ActivInspire software for the Promethean ActivBoard. ActivInspire is to an Activboard what Notebook software is to the SmartBoard. I'm sorry you're having trouble! That has happened to me before too when I've downloaded flipcharts from others. I think it’s because you might not have the same fonts that I used, so it switches to a font that you do have and that throws things off a little. I pretty much only used the fonts Marker Felt, Apple Casual, and Chalkboard on the flipcharts (mostly Marker Felt), so if you don’t have those fonts that could be the reason. They all came downloaded on my computer already (I have a mac), but I searched online and this website has all 3 for free: http://ufonts.com. I’m sure there are other font sites that have them also. Marker felt and Apple Casual seemed to be easy to find, but the only place that I could find that had the correct version of Chalkboard was the ufonts.com site (Chalkboard Bold). Maybe try downloading those fonts, restarting your computer, and then try to download First Day Jitters again and see if that helps. If not, the only other thing would be to go through and edit each page and change the font/size of the text so that it looks right. Hope that helps!

I was very happy about your flipcharts, unfortunently, I can't open them...I purchased the Penguin Chick. I'm not sure if it's because it's in a flipchart file? I have no idea what is even...I use SmartBoard technologies at my school. Is this a fixable problem? Thanks so much!

Hello!
Flipcharts are meant to work with ActivInspire software for Promethean Activboards. It's like the Notebook software for SmartBoards. So, if you don't have ActivInspire, you won't be able to open the file. The good news is that even if you have a SmartBoard or other type of interactive whiteboard, you can still use ActivInspire software. You can download the Personal Edition for free from the Promethean Planet website!

If you use ActivInspire software on a SmartBoard the main difference will be that you can only use one pen. If you want to change colors or erase, there is a little toolbox off to the side where you click the tool you want to use. Also, Smartboards are more like touch screens where you can use your finger as the mouse, and on Activboards you have to use the pen to click on things. I've used both Notebook and ActivInspire software and personally like ActivInspire better. My school has a mix of SmartBoards and ActivBoards and most teachers with SmartBoards use the ActivInspire software instead of Notebook. It may take some time getting used to, but it can definitely be done! Hope that helps!

Yes, the text links to an activity. The thumbnails are just pictures of the home screen for each story. So if you were to click on Day 2 under vocabulary, it would take you to an activity to review the weekly vocabulary words. If you click one of the spelling links it will take you a spelling activity. You can try out my First Day Jitters flipchart (it's free!) to get a better idea of how it works! I hope that helped! Let me know if you have any other questions!

There used to be an option on ActivInspire to export a flipchart to powerpoint, however, that function no longer exists. It can still be done, but it would have to be page by page, which could be very time consuming with flipcharts that are 40-50 pages long. I do like the idea of turning the flipcharts into powerpoints though, and this may be something I look into doing in the future. With school back in full swing, I'm not sure if I'd be able to do it anytime soon. If you're asking because you don't have ActivInspire, you can always download the personal edition free on the Promethean Planet website. Hope that helps!

Yes! I have flipcharts for all of the stories in the 3rd grade series. I've been trying to get them all posted as fast as I can, but with school starting back up things have been a little hectic!
