From reading the specs on 7-zip, my .zip files should be compatible. However, I do see that there is one file that may be causing a problem from my end if you are working on a PC. I recently purchased your Description Bundle on text features and I seem to be missing attachment number 19, open repsone questions. Your material is fantastic! This is just what I need for my 4/5 grade classroom as I teach all of these concepts. What I need is a way to organize all of it. Do you have a general monthly lesson plan or yearly plan, so you know what reading concept you are teaching each week, month etc.
Our school is transitioning to Common Core and we are not using our old curriculum anymore. We are expected to look at the standards and create our own yearly plan. This is overwhelming at times.
I would be happy to pay you for your lesson plans. I don't need detailed day to day, I just need a general outline to follow, so I make sure I teach all the reading standards in an organized fashion.
If you have anything like this at all please let me know. (I used to teach kindergarten and first grade which I knew extremely well, but this is only my fourth year in the intermediate grades and there is so much to master)

Hello! I think that the files you are unable to open are the SMART files in Notebook. They are simply screen captures of the previous documents to use with a SMARTboard. If the files you cannot open are 06, 09, 11, 13, 16, and 18, this is the case.

Do you have a pacing guide you have created to follow with your fourth graders. I'm in the process of trying to get one together, and I'd love to see the order in which you teach reading. I'm beginning the year with nonfiction text features and move on to text structures. Any suggestions? Maybe you already have this on your blog.

Our fourth grade team has put together the order of units. We start with story elements, then go to text features and nonfiction introductions. Next is nonfiction text structure, and then we look at going deeper with making inferences across both fiction and nonfiction. Then we do poetry and finish up the year with comparing texts and literature circles. This year, we're going to experiment with doing poetry one day out of the cycle throughout the entire year--we've been having trouble getting to poetry before our testing! We have essential questions for each unit--I'll be pulling them off our school database and formatting them in August, so I can send you a copy. :) I think starting the year with nonfiction would be great, by the way!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
When I can't find what I want for my classroom, I create it myself. I always have a camera in hand, ready to record my experiences to create engaging articles to share with my students. You'll see my favorite places in my PowerPoints and teaching packs! Besides writing for TpT, I have also written two books on the topic of teaching reading: Summarizing, Paraphrasing, and Retelling and The Forest AND the Trees: Helping Readers Identify Details in Texts and Tests.
MY TEACHING STYLE
My teaching style is thoughtful, reflective, and student-centered. In my reading class, I use guided reading, whole-group instruction, independent reading, and literacy centers to help my students grow as readers. My favorite classroom moments occur when students come to me with unexpected questions, connections, or ideas. This is what makes me come to school each day!
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I have published two books based on my teaching experiences. The first, Summarizing, Paraphrasing, and Retelling, was created from my frustration with teaching summarizing and the lack of resources available. I went back to the research journals to figure out why my students were having trouble and how I could help them. The second book, The Forest AND the Trees, explores how students use details to make inferences, visualize, and learn new information from text. Both books are available from Heinemann.
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I love to learn! I graduated from Penn State, and I have a M. Ed. in Language and Literacy from Millersville University.
