I have taught Pre-K for one year, Kindergarten for two years, Second Grade for two years, and First Grade, going on two years.
I am very energetic and flexible. I am also ADHD and take medication for me to focus. I know a lot of adults think that I should not inform others, but this makes me unique in that I know what my students ARE going through. It helps me connect with them on a more personal level and it gains my parents trust in that I do know what their child is going through. I hope that my methods will help encourage other teachers out there with any form of ADD or ADHD to come out to their parents. It helps a greater understanding. Many of my parents are now willing to see other methods for their children now and want them to be tested. As I always tell the parent, it is a way to rule out ADD, ADHD, and any other physcial, mental problem, so we can get down to learning!
In college, I was awarded the Most Outstanding Student by the Dean Association of Alabama, 1993. I was also award the Explorer Achievement Award for B.S.A. as an adult in 1993.
I was a music major until 1999. I have my minors in Music Education. There is a lot of music in my room. It helps calms the students and is Great with transition times. I finished my degree in Early Childhood Education in 2000 and recieved Highly Qualified in 2001.
One year of my First grade expierence was in Alabama. Since then, the rest of my teaching has been in Georgia where I am currently teaching First Grade. I can help with most grades for Music Lessons all the way to most subject areas in the Elementary grades.
