I loved how challenging this was for my students. I used it before going on a focused field trip about the book and my students were more knowledgable about the book then the lady leading the trip!
Have loved using this unit with my third graders before a field trip to the Santa Fe Trail Museum in Kansas! Love all the Common Core connections too! Great job!

No, I'm sorry this is only a Microsoft Word document. I'm sorry for the delay in my response, but this question didn't send an alert. Please let me know if I can help you further.
Thanks!

Hello !! I need help printing this on 11 by 17 paper .
Hi! Thanks so much for purchasing my lesson plan template. Here are steps to help:
1. make sure you have 11 x 17 (legal) paper loaded into your printer
2. go to your printer options or page setup and choose 11 x 17 paper
Please let me know if you have any further issues. It would be helpful for me to know what version of Word you are using and your printer type.
Thanks,
Erica
Hi! Thank you so much for your interest in the QAR cards. I uploaded a preview of one of the cards so that you could see an example. If you go to the product overview there should now be a sample image.
The cards include Q1: Right There Questions; Q2: Think and Search; Q3: Author and You; Q4: On My Own. These cards explain, define and give examples of key words for the different types of QAR questions. QAR or Question-Answer-Relationship is a questioning strategy that teaches students to identify different types of questions and where to find the answers.
Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Would these plans be usable for 2nd grade as is or would they need to be adjusted? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for inquiring about this unit. It was specifically designed for 3rd-4th grade students, but is easily modified for any grade level. I feel that this would easily be extended to 2nd grade students. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
Thank you so much. It goes to the tune of "I'm Going on a Bear Hunt" - which is a song/chant. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Thank you Erica. I am student teaching right now and I have never done a unit on a book before. Do you have any resources that I could check out that I can read about how to create a unit on a book.
Great! Hope you are enjoying! I always develop units based on my current Social Studies or Science themes. I find leveled books that connect to the theme we are studying and develop the unit from there. Each day I include the before, during and after strategies as a part of my plan. I plan the comprehension skills based on the current needs of the group, developmental needs, and my focus for that time. Then I pull those skills and strategies through the book I've selected. I really like Fountas and Pinnell and Lucy Calkins. They actually have similar philosophies. Hope this helps. I'm not sure if this is what you were asking. Let me know if you have further questions. You could use the Twister on Tuesday lesson plan and add/delete as you find neccessary.

Hi Erica. Will this help me create a unit on the book Twister on Tuesday?
This is a set of lesson plans for the book and a student packet to go with it. So, yes I feel this would help you create a unit on this book. The teacher's lesson plans suggest activities and discussion points for each day and the student guide corresponds with the lesson plan. There are 14 days of plans included. Please let me know if you have further questions. Thanks!
