I love your visual support question posters. I was curious...If I gave you a list of some of the classroom themes/topics I use in my classroom, would be interested in creating poster for them? I would love to have them!
July 14, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Erin from Creating and Teaching
Absolutely! I am open to suggestions of topics to add to the bundle :) If you want to email me your suggestions I will write them down. Please list them in the order that you would want them. i.e. #1 be the first topic you would need. I most likely will not have the chance to do them all at once, but can add them gradually. My email is creatingandteaching@hotmail.com

Just wondering what tasks are included in the package? Would you make additional cards if something is needed? Thanks

A list would be very helpful now wouldn't it! I'll have to add that! I will gladly add to the pack (within reason). Some of what is already included:

backpack, breakfast, lunch, snack, recess, gross motor, ot, pt, speech, social skills, centers, group time, work time, clean up, earn, brush teeth, wash hands, quiet time, books, art, music, gym, cafeteria, bus....I think there may be a few more. I will gladly add on to the file as people purchase and make suggestions!

Yes I am referring to the Matching Verb Activity. It would be great if you could add a half page title cover to make it more complete. It's a great activity. It leaves me wondering why I didn't think of it. LOL. The whole unit is great. It has become one of my favorite purchases and I have purchased over 5oo items from TPT.

If no, explain
-Is your child able to have his/her photograph taken? Yes/No
-Is your child able to have his/her photo on our school website? Yes/No

Each month is going to be something different. If you are looking for letters, you'll have to look to a different month. I won't be making a letters one for April. I just don't have the time to do numbers and repeat of letters with an April theme. I'm sorry about that.

I hope to be adding May to the bundle this week!

Nina S. re: Happy Sticks Behavior Management Strategy
Since I am completely over the Clip Chart system, I was thrilled to find this! Are the sticks counted every day? Or do you think they could they be counted on Friday so that they have all the whole week to earn? Then Monday, they come in and start fresh? I was also thinking about negative behaviors. What if there was a different color stick that went in for warnings? If a child were to have 3 of those sticks, a form could go home. Already thinking about the fall and would love your input!
April 21, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Erin from Creating and Teaching
We could sticks 3x during the day. But I'm working with pre-schoolers, mostly with autism, so I need my reinforcers to be more frequent than just at the end of the week. I've made some alterations to how I run this in my own classroom, and am waiting until the summer to make updates to the pack. I've had so much feedback and input from others that I want to include too. I have heard others mention about using different colored sticks just like you mentioned. I have a 6 color clip chart I started in my classroom. Children can earn happy sticks throughout the day, or move their clip up/down. When we go to count our sticks, depending on what color their clip is on, they can earn more sticks. Purple, the highest color is 4 sticks, blue, the second highest color is 3 sticks, green, where everyone starts is 2 sticks, light green is 1 stick, then there are yellow and red, which are 0 sticks and no earn time at all. Whether or not they have sticks in their pocket already. Then we do about 2-3 minutes of earn time with choices between 2 special activities, or choice of a treat (maybe 3 m & m's or a hershey kiss) I try to alternate between toys and treat. Obviously when they are treats, we don't really need 3 minutes. I also then communicate to the parents what color their child was on for the day (from the clip chart). I never take sticks away once given. But you could incorporate maybe a red stick, or something and for each red stick they have, they lose a minute of their earn time?

I was wondering if the numbers on the cards were designed to overlap the picture. I noticed this on some cards but not all.
January 22, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Erin from Creating and Teaching
It is going to depend on the card. I want the numbers to be large and visible so in come cases they may sit on the clip art a little bit, but shouldn't over lap greatly. Do you see some that overlap a lot? If so, which month?

November 24, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Erin from Creating and Teaching
You could play it either way! If they are playing by themselves, no point in putting it back. If they are playing with a partner or 2, they could put it back for their partner to have a chance to get it (they'll want to put it back in a new spot though!) Or they could keep it and once all the cards are gone, set it up again to keep playing until everyone playing has stamped all their pictures. Hope that made sense!

Hello,
I really like your system and am thinking about incorporating it into my Kindergarten classroom this year. However, our school is big on sending home daily communication to let the parents know how their child did each day. Do you have a form that goes along with this system? If not, have you thought of any good ways to communicate daily progress to parents? I have not come up with anything yet so I thought I would ask. :) Thanks so much!
August 4, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Erin from Creating and Teaching
That is something that is on my to do list. This will actually be the first year I use this in my classroom as well so I'm still working on thinking up something the use as a communication piece. I'm either going to create something that goes along with this, or just have a separate communication page for behavior. It's already included on my daily sheets. I'm not sure what I will end up doing. If I add something that goes along with the pack I will update it and you'll receive a notification!

Kari H. re: Happy Sticks Behavior Management Strategy
Hi! I absolutely love this system!!! I am a first year life skills K-2 teacher and I have been looking all summer for a behavior management system. This is the first one that I have seen that seems just right! If you don't mind I have a couple of questions. I was hired in March of this last year so I was able to get a little bit of experience. I used the positive reinforcement system to encourage work where students were able to choose from a couple of pictures what they wanted if they did their work. It worked pretty well. I am wondering if the happy sticks could replace that and be used for behavior and to encourage work. How many times a day are you planning on letting the students count their sticks and get their reward? Also, if you don't mind me asking...what system do you use for students who make poor choices? If you get a chance to let me know I would be so grateful. Thank you!
August 3, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Erin from Creating and Teaching
Thanks for your question! I haven't created my schedule for the year yet, so I haven't determined exactly how many time we will be counting yet, but I know that we will start the year with more frequent breaks, and then lessen them as the year goes on. This is entirely different from any specific behavior earns a student has on their own. (I have some students on their own token economy) I see this as a management system class wide as far as sharing, and being a good friend, etc. They will be given a stick for that. For poor choices I use a thinking chair in my classroom and the students will go to the thinking chair. I will never take away a stick once I give it. If you think about it, if a child is making poor choices and continuing going to the thinking chair, they are spending more time there versus time elsewhere, where they have opportunities to earn sticks. As a result, when it comes time to "cash in" they are going to have less sticks. So even though there is no taking away of sticks, they could as a consequence have less. I believe another person asked a question about using this system to reflect poor choices, as well. If you read through the questions on the product, you'll see my response to her. (versus typing it all out again) Feel free to e-mail me if you have other questions. I plan on doing some blog updates about this system as well.

I am wondering if the happy sticks could replace that and be used for behavior and to encourage work. Also, if you don't mind me asking...what system do you use for students who make poor choices? If you get a chance to let me know I would be so grateful. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your request, but unfortunately I don't have an editable version of this file saved and it would be rather time consuming to convert it to an editable file that I could share with you. I would have to do it in a specific format due to the copyright of the images used, etc. Creating editable substitute binders is something I will keep in mind the next time I create one.

Thanks for your inquiry!

Buyer re: Dramatic Play Picnic Set
Is there any way there could be smaller cards added for salt & pepper, ketchup, and mustard so students could include those on the food order? I also wanted students to use as a matching activity and those cards were not included in the set so it does not allow me to do that.

Also, I tried printing using Adobe Reader and the bottom lines of the large cards are not printing however, when I copy and paste the image into WORD they do appear and print.

Thanks again. The clipart/graphics are very cute and a nice set.

Those are some great suggestions for updating this item! When were you hoping to see those adjustments by? Certainly something I can add to my list of things to do. Once updated, you should receive a notification to re-download :)

Meghan Johnson  (TpT Seller) re: Happy Sticks Behavior Management Strategy
Hello! My school also have enforced color chart systems that I just don't think helps students really understand why they are losing recess or what their infractions are and more importantly, how those infractions affect their learning. I was wondering about a component of the Popsicle system that has Popsicle sticks that are color coded and related to the rule they broke. They put the colored stick of their infractions in their pocket so when they serve their time or do not get to participate in fun breaks, they see their stick and know exactly what they did wrong. Have you seen anything like this incorporated in the Popsicle stick system? I like it and want to buy it I just want to make sure it has room for this visual component of showing the students their behavior. Thanks!

I have not seen anything like this incorporated, but if I'm following what you are explaining, I think you could implement that along with this. You would just maybe want to create an add-on visual of what the different colors stood for (as a visual reminder). Would you still hand out yellow happy sticks along with these? For example I think it could work like this, a student counts their happy sticks, say they have 10. But they have 1 red stick in their pocket. Red means (fill in blank here) and therefore they loose 5 (or however many) happy sticks. This takes them down to 5 sticks, which now means they've earned from a lower category. I think it could work like that you could just have to check your numbers for the different colors. So if red was the worst, you'd want to to make sure it took away enough # of sticks that would affect what they were able to earn. Let me know if that doesn't make any sense. Depending on the grade level this may or may not work, but definitely something to think about!

Yes! All purchases on teachers pay teachers are immediate downloads. After you purchase something you'll want to look to the top right of your screen and click "my TPT" then click "purchases" this will take you to a page where all the items you have ever purchased on located. Then you click "download". Save the file to your computer then open it and print!

I hope that was helpful!

This file is editable so it was made in Word. I would like to edit the file in the future and may consider convert it to powerpoint, but I'm not sure that the formatting will carry over. Do you have access to word elsewhere that you can open and edit the files?
