I love these checklists. Do you have any plans for them to go to higher levels? If so, I would love to buy the product. Thanks Sarah

dawnly re: Guided Reading Strategies and Prompts
Dear Erin,
Hi! The Guided Reading Strategies and Prompts you are selling has a very similar content and format to the Guided Reading Groupings Folder created in Pearland ISD. This was developed using prompts from Fountas & Pinnell and in collaboration with an area district. We openly share it with other districts without pay and do not have a copyright on it. In light of the similarities, we were thinking it would be best if this was listed for free. We look forward to hearing from you.
It's always good to collaborate with fellow balanced literacy teachers!

Hi! I am a Kindergarten teacher here in Texas. I have a question for you. Does your school use CSCOPE for curriculum? If so, how long? Our district just rolled it out for us to begin using it. I love it, but many of my colleagues are overwhelmed and do not like it at all. Did anyone on your faculty have the same problems? Can you tell me how your school overcame the issues? Of course these questions are assuming you do use it. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

I am so sorry I have not replied to your question! I just now saw it (I need to check on my notification settings!)

Yes, my district does use CSCOPE. We have been using it for 3 years or so now. In the beginning, no one liked it! We all hated how wordy it was and how much prep and materials were required. Believe it or not, we like it now (overall). Math and science in particular have developed fairly nicely over the last few years and have become easier to use. I am looking forward to improvements in social studies. My advice would simply be to give it a chance. Give it some time and try it out. Your colleagues might just be surprised!

I teach K. We use Daily 5 and are moving into using Reading Workshop by Lucy Calkins. Are these poster simple enough for K? Give me some kind of clue about them.

Yes, they are. I teach K too : ) They are colorful and have pictures to help remind the kiddos of what we are talking about.
