This problem has come up a few times before. Try this: Even though Adobe was updated, the preview mode might need to be turned off. Mac users rarely need or even configure their "right click" option; it is in settings on the track pad but some don't even know they have that. You have to right click the pdf from your hard drive window and choose Adobe to open it. It's usually an automatic thing, but sometimes you have to do it manually. Let me know if that works. Sorry about the trouble! That's so frustrating!

If it still isn't working after you get the newest download, try this: Download the latest version of Adobe Reader. If you are on a Mac, do not open with Preview. It will not work. I'm having trouble printing the "prompt" features on each of the Log pages. I print and get the grey "grid" and top sentence (While you're reading...) and the bottom comment (Questions like these ...), but when I try my advanced options I don't get the "print as image" to work as directed. A lot of my students ask me how to spell usually the same words every year so I decided to make them a little personalized pocket dictionary to keep in their boxes, but this is so much better! I teach Kinder Bilingual for gifted and talented students, most of my instruction, especially language arts is in Spanish,so I will have to add the extra letters. This packet contains activities tied to the anchor standards, so they are more general. I did this so families can use it year after year and build these activities into their home reading routine. (It's also handy if parents have kids in multiple grade levels at once.)
The math version does list the content standards by grade level for reference, but the activities in that version relate to the math process standards, so they're general as well.

You can modify the number of boxes in the editable version included in the packet. (You could delete two rows so you just have the three boxes for smaller cvc words.) I just downloaded the Shape-A-Story Winter Themed Collage Art Writing for $3.75. When I open it, I only get the cover page as a jpeg file. It says it is a 38 page document. Is the $3.75 for the 38 page document or just for a single page preview file?

Can you explain how the item is used? Is it a resource the parents read once to teach them how to expand their child's thinking or is something a teacher could assign as homework? For instance: Do page 5 on number sense and play the game?

Hi Michele, It's actually both. It explains the standards to parents and gives them sample questions to ask their kids when they're solving math problems together. It also includes a math log, where students can show their thinking. I would send home the informational letters and the parent guide to let parents use it as they choose, and I would also occasionally send home a problem like what we're doing in class and have kids write out their thinking by doing a page in the math log to turn in. You could use the math log in class too. The questions are general, so they apply to many different problems. Does that answer your question?

I downloaded the common core literacy log and it has grey smears across the pages. Do you know why this is showing up on my papers after downloading them? On a regular bulletin board I would use twine across the top to sit the birds on, and scatter the clouds with letters across the top and then another row across the middle of the bulletin board. (With the words underneath, obviously.) Does that make sense?
Also fyi, I made the word cards pretty huge, but you can resize by printing smaller if you have a smaller space.

I tried to use the Feedback section, but for some reason it did not work on my Kindle. First of all, I wanted to say how much I love your products. I work with children from K-3 and I can think of a variety of ways to incorporate your ideas for all those grade levels.

I am writing you in regards to the Teacher Appreciation Jack Pot. I made a huge error. I was so excited on Sunday I spent hours and hours on a very slow computer going to every site that participated. I might have looked around a bit and became a follower. I was so inspired by all of you bloggers. Anyways, I went to every single site and added the TPA Freebie to my wishlist because the computer I was on has a virus and was not cooperating. SSSLLLOOOWWW!!!! So I thought if I just add it to my wish list on Monday morning I will download them on my school computer where I do all or most of my school work anyway. I was so excited I woke up super early so I could get to school and download them. Come to find out you had to pay for them. I wanted to cry. I emailed tpt and when they finally got back to me they said unfortunately there was nothing they could do. I was suppose to download them. I don’t recall ever reading that anywhere but I am very new to all of this. They said I had to email each one of you individually. Yes, then and there I just about started to cry. I had 120 items I added to my wishlist. I was on the computer all day Sunday doing this.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have 10 years of teaching experience in the elementary grades, and 8 years as a parent. I'm passionate about creating products that combine what I know about education from both perspectives. Before staying home with my three young boys, I taught grades 3-6. I also subbed in grades K-12. I currently blog at www.smalltypes.com, where I exercise my "teacher brain" by sharing tips for parents to help them create a print-rich home. Strong home/school partnerships are essential in order for our students to succeed. My main goal on Teachers Pay Teachers is to provide products that help teachers build connections with parents; and to create resources for parents who want meaningful ways to extend learning at home.
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I've led various district staff development training sessions on differentiation during Guided Reading, word work strategies and inquiry based science. I've trained staff on Step Up to Writing and Handwriting Without Tears programs. I was also a presenter and demonstration teacher for my district's new teacher induction program.
