My first year of teaching was in 1994 when I taught Kindergarten at Helena Elementary School in Person County, NC. I left teaching in 1998 when my husband and I moved to MA. After a 12 year exploration into several other careers (Nanny, Phone Company Customer Service Rep, Realtor, Pharmaceutical Sales Rep, Personal Banker) I finally made my way back to my heart's passion: teaching. I am indebted to my principal, who gave this older "new" teacher a chance. I am entering my 2nd year as a 1st grade teacher and I LOVE being in the classroom with my kids!!! Every day is truly an adventure. My students' insights amaze me and their genuine kindness makes my heart smile.
I have very high expectations of myself and of my students. I see myself as the spark that ignites the fire within the students - their curiosity and thirst for exploration and knowledge. I am a strong believer in teamwork and team learning/teaching among the students. Every student takes pride in participating and contributing within our classroom family.

My family moved from a tight-knit neighborhood to a very private, 16-acre farm in March 2012. We (me, my husband and our 12-year old daughter) now have a much larger family: 2 bulldogs, 2 adult and 3 young cats, 2 goats, 2 pigs, 3 hens, and perhaps 2 llamas soon. There is also a small herd(?) of 11 deer that live on the wooded portion of our land.
