Needed mental math flash cards for my student. Too much clip art made it difficult for her to focus.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll include some plain ones in future packs. In the meantime you could try this: let her play with the cards and enjoy them first before getting down to serious learning. Encourage her to make her own as a way for her to take charge of her own learning. Hope this helps!

Needed flashcards for multi-digit addition. Would have preferred flash cards without clipart. It was too distracting for my student.

I love this because I can easily differentiate the activity by making the last page easier and giving those problems to my lower kidos. They'll never know that I'm picking out only the easy ones to give to them. Thanks so much!

I find this to be the best way to cement the concept of rounding off in the child's mind. It also strengthens their number sense.

The concept of number bonds is really useful in helping students be quick in mental calculations. You can also download my free product: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Flash-Cards-money-256974 to give your students practice using the concept of number bonds to calculate in decimals.

Hi! Thanks for trying my product. Yes, you're right, the actual games and method to play is the same. What is different are the cards themselves.

I am trying to help students have a different understanding about addition other than just memorizing the answers. The application is the same for all the cards. First the students work out the answers on paper. When they understand the concept, then they use the cards like flashcards to help them apply the method mentally. I hope this will help them think faster.

The first set of cards have addition questions that add up to 10. They are meant to help the student think fast in simple addition.

The second set has questions with answers more than 10 but less than 20. Instead of getting students to memorize the answer, I showed them how they can use the idea of number bonds to get the answer. This builds on the previous skill on number sets that total 10. This also introduces the idea of regrouping or carry-over.

The third set of cards help them understand more about addition with regrouping. Since the questions pair a 2-digit number with a 1-digit number, the relationship in regrouping is clear to see.

The last set of cards consists of addition of two 2-digit numbers. This time the idea is to use place value to add the tens digits and the ones digits simultaneously. If the ones digits total more than 10 , then they can apply the idea of regrouping to find the final answer.

I hope I have explained my purpose a little more clearly. I really appreciate your feedback.

Number Tiles for Math

Buyer

I am putting them in my number work math station to order numbers. It is a good piece because the numbers are large and forces them to think about place value. It is also good for my advanced learners.
