Hi,
I am getting ready to place an order with TpT and I have searched for your paper bag book report and I can't find it. I should have placed it on the wish list, something that I will do from now on.
Hope that it is still available.

Is there an answer key for this booklet that I can use to check my french understanding?

I'll be happy to update this with an answer key. I'll re-post by the end of the weekend at the very latest. Merci!
Braggie: I've created an answer key, but I'm unable to attach it to the original without creating a formatting disaster! Please contact me at foreignlanguagehouse@gmail.com and I'll send it to you as a separate Word document. Merci!

re: Spanish Nativity Story for Novice Speakers
Hi,
I see from the post below that you have already been made aware of the repeated spelling error in the title of your coloring book, but I purchased it a month after Sarah's post and the errors still exist. Also, the word 'él' should have an accent mark even when it is capitalized if the meaning is 'he'. I would love to have an accurate version in time to use this within the next two weeks. I did not anticipate the work being flawed and am disappointed that I may not get a cleaned up version in time.

Hi Lori,
We are sure sorry about this! I will send you the microsoft word document version that we have so that you can customize it too; I'll also send along the pdf.
We know that in Spanish the accent marks are often omitted on capital letters, especially on a native speaker's keyboard. But, we include them often too. I can send you one with an accent on the e too. Look for this to come along tonight. Again,
apologies.

The Nativity book doesn't print the far edges on booths sides, the words are cut off. Do you know how to solve this?

Was this in French or Spanish? I'll look into it tomorrow to get you an updated copy. In the meantime, could you reduce % when printing?

re: Spanish Nativity Story for Novice Speakers
Hi there!
I purchased this Nativity Story (Spanish) for Novice Speakers last week. However, when I opened the book, there are a few problems I wanted to make you aware of:
1. The title of the children's coloring book is listed as "Le Primera Navidad"...should be "La Primera Navidad" since I purchased the Spanish version.
2. The pages of the coloring book are not evenly split down the middle. Therefore, when the kids cut along the dotted lines, the book does not line up evenly. Some pages are 1/2 page size, others are 1/3 or 1/4 in size. (This really frustrated the kids when I used it in class on Tuesday.)
I have not yet had time to read through the rest of the materials (I plan on doing that over the Thanksgiving holiday). The coloring book is absolutely adorable though! It was perfect for use in my class....minus those two things listed above. :)
If you do make corrections to this document, would you mind sending the corrected version to me? I would greatly appreciate it! It was a bit embarrassing having the children scratch out the "e" in "Le Primera..." and change it to an "a'. It's partly my fault, I should have looked closer at the coloring book prior to printing it out! :)
Gracias por todo!

I have purchased this activity and have tried to print it numerous times. The title on the first page prints in English and the rest of it is mixed up in a language I don\'t recognize. Can you give me some tips on how I can resolve this? Thank you!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I was at home on my mac when some of the slides didn't work. I'm at school now and it works here on my pc. I will have to play around with my powerpoint on the mac to see what is wrong there. But I have to say, I didn't notice when I ordered this that it was all in spanish. Kind of disapointed.

We believe in a target-language only approach to language learning. You can still adapt the PowerPoint to include English if you wish.

Hi! I teach introductory French at a middle school. I also teach Reading, and my Reading duties take me out of the classroom more often than I'd like. While I do have one sub that speaks French, she's not always available - so I need to find lesson plans for non-French speaking subs. Do you have beginning French lesson plans for a non-French speaker?

I currently teach 5ht and 6th grade. I see my classes 2x a week for 18 weeks. My question is: How long were/are your elementary classes and did you stick to the 90% immersion?
Thank you,

(Diane answering): I have taught at a number of schools with different program models. There are probably more variations in foreign language teaching than any other area! My elementary classes ranged from once/week to 4-5 times/week. As far as class time, I've had 20 minute pre-k classes up to 50 minute 5th/6th classes. Lots and lots of variation. Regardless, I did always stick to at least 90% in the target language, often more.

re: DÃa de Muertos Power Point
I was disappointed in the ppt.
I had purchased all 3 resources that you uploaded for Dia de los muertos.
they were basically the same clip art in different formats.
I appreciate the ability to make changes on a ppt but this one had no information at all. It was an expensive purchase for the same pictures...

Laura, often we create a variety of materials to offer people a choice of formats. I can understand your frustration since you purchased all three. If you contact us directly at foreignlanguagehouse@gmail.com we can help you out!

re: Spanish Classroom Phrases: Practical, Everyday Spanish
How many pages do you get for this purchase?
September 2, 2010
ForeignLanguageHouse
(TpT Seller)
This download is 4 pages (cover page makes 5.) All 4 pages are printable handouts to be used as student reference, activity, or homework. We've found that by spending a lot of time teaching "survival" phrases in the first week(s) it's much easier to stay in Spanish for the rest of the year :-)

WOW. You're awesome! Thanks.
While you are on a roll, how about a future tense version: I will live in...(city) I will be a (profession)...I will drive a..I will/will not marry...My partner will be...we will have # children...my/ our home will be...(apartment,condo, on the beach, on a lake,...I will travel to...I will make this world a better place by...Since these tenses are in level II, please leave them in the infinitive so that students have to figure out the conjugations. As a teacher, I would correct these as a rough draft for a writing assignment. Breaking it down like this for them would be a little less overwhelming to them.

re: Literacy Home or Independent Practice Activities
I really like what your designed, and think it could be adapted for my reading intervention class. What is your opinion? Thanks, Karen
June 27, 2010
ForeignLanguageHouse
(TpT Seller)
Thanks! I do think too that you could use it for reading intervention. Often many don't realize that literacy skills are separate skills- listening, reading, speaking, and writing- that converge with higher literacy. The reading activities are simple, short, and basic enough not to intimidate students, but give them reading tasks.
I thought of my previous ELL students when I created this. Bring on further questions.

Hola Andrea!
As a former middle school teacher, I can say that I had middle schoolers in mind when I wrote this. If you feel that an activity, etc is "young" you can tweak it to give it an "older spin." The Circle Time is really your instructional time so you can call it Group Time. The middle schoolers will love the games! Use some appropriate Latino pop music as the kids arrive.

Excellent question, Roya! We did decide to include several MSM activities for the convenience of having them right there in the download (8 pages). But there are 18 additional pages of brand NEW content, mostly explaining centers, student-led projects, handouts, rubrics, evaluations.

Thank you so much! My email is royapetersen@gmail.com! Do you have any other ER verb games by chance? Like ER dominos maybe? I teach high school and have the students reviewing for the mid-term in centers. I have bought many of your supplies including Middle School Madness. I have already used the tic-tac-toes games and love them. Something along the lines of tic/tac/toe or the dice games.
