In your Mexican-American War - 4 causes, 4 figures, 4 events, 4 effects (23-slide PPT), does it include the Alamo as one of the events?
March 30, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Greg's Goods - Making History Fun
Hi Eric,

For the Mexican-American War, I included the Texas Revolution (as a whole) as one of the causes, along with the U.S. annexation of Texas, the border dispute, and the Californios in Alta California. I have a separate Texas Revolution 4 x 4 that includes the Alamo as one of the events. I also have both the Mex-Am War and Tex Rev. as comic strip activities, too. Hope this helps.

I have the all of my civil war stuff bundled at a discount, including PowerPoints, comic strip activity, primary source handouts with questions, stick figures and more. The Underground Railroad ppt I have posted as a solo. I also have an abolition ppt in parts and together as a bundle (transcendentalism, abolition, romanticism, temperance, women's rights). Most of my unit PPTs are bundled for other units as well. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Hello, Greg. I purchased 'Evolution vs. Creation' this afternoon and just had a chance to look at it tonight.

You will want to add an 'L' to slide six ... the 'word' should be spelled 'world' in the Bible verse.

The title screen says that there are 17 slides on evolution and 17 on creation but there are 10 for each. You may wish to change that and your description or -- to my preference -- add seven more slides to each.

You have not really addressed the differences between 'Biblical' creationists -- those who believe that the history revealed in the Bible is accurate -- and evolutionists here. Perhaps that could be the content of the other slides.

The field of ancient history is one in which cr & ev differ also ... similar creation, fall and flood stories exist in hundreds of cultures.

History of religion is another field in which the two differ.

In my view, you have limited yourself for the most part to 'creation' arguments of the 'intelligent design' school and this leaves out an equally numerous (or slightly more numerous in the very latest poll) school of Biblical creationists.

If you like, I could suggest specific resources to use. Generally, I'd recommend www.icr.org, www.creation.com, and www.answersingenesis.org .

Secular sources include the work of several archaeologists and historians on the "table of nations" of Genesis 10, including Dr. William F. Albright, plus the recent reconsideration of overlaps of several Egyptian dynasties.

If you look back at archaeologists and anthropologists from about 1875 you will find a number of lines of investigation based on Darwin's ideas which didn't pan out over the following years of studying various cultures in the field. Just a tip! :)

Blessings,
Bob Ford

Hi Wes,

The SWAT slide should have questions appear one at a time, and then the correct answers should spin at the next click of the mouse. I use this to have two students compete to "swat" the answer first on the board. Could be a test review, class competition, or both. Let me know if I can clarify further.

Thanks,

Hi Diann,

I actually just re-posted the Medieval Unit to include additional documents. Many of the activities are built into the PPT slides (such as the hyperlinks to videos, primary sources, etc.). The other documents that now come with the download are: Europe Map (MS WORD DOC), Europe Word Sort (MS WORD DOC), Jeopardy game (PPT), Color-Card Assessment (PPT) and Magna Carta Handout (MS WORD DOC). These are in addition to the original 6 separate PowerPoints for the unit. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Hello Greg, I just purchased the Reformation Unit ppt bundle and am very impressed with the detail/information you included. I was wondering, though, if there are any cover page slides for when switching between the section topics in the all inclusive ppt (containing all 6 units)? For example, I noticed on the preview for the single unit on Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth that you had a slide with the TV/movie actors, but that is not included in the whole 6 unit ppt. Would it be possible to get a copy of the section intro slides or can you only get those if you purchase the units individually and not as the whole unit? Thanks.

Hi Bianca,

It looks like that clip has been taken off of YouTube. Here's a couple others that I've used. The first one is a quick bio, short and sweet. The second is a dramatic clip from 'The Borgias' on Showtime (I think it's all appropriate, but preview it first):

Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Thanks,

Buyer
Hi!
I'm teaching English in S. Korea. ^^;; (not social studies)
I purchased one of your fabulous materials, the Hitler's speeches.
If you don't mind,
Would it be possible for me to get the answer keys for the questions that you've made on your worksheets?
Due to the lack of the much knowledge on European Histories, I'm struggling to understand the backgrounds of the speeches.

Please! ^^

Buyer re: FREE GREAT DEPRESSION GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Causes, themes, Dust Bowl, New Deal
When I downloaded the file and opened it, I only see the graphic organizer. Do you have any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Hi pmwoolard,

The Great Depression graphic organizer is something that I offer as a free download. It can be used to study the Great Depression in general, but it is also made to fit the unit and PowerPoint lessons described. However, the free download does not include those files. Email me and let me know if you're interested in one of the lessons and I'll send one your way, no charge. greghnoyes@gmail.com

thanks,

Buyer re: Hernan Cortes & The Conquest of the Aztecs...
Hi, I purchased your product and really am excited to use it in my class. My question is, is there anyway to send me a clean copy of the historical stick figure without the answers? I want the kids to be able to fill in their own thinking:) Thanks!

The Reconstruction Power Point- I really liked it and it was great to teach with. However, there are a couple of errors in the slides. The numbered items from the KKK pamphlet and then the numbering on the black codes is all wrong. I just thought you might want to know.

Hi Cfryar123,

Thank you for the compliments and for pointing out the errors. If you mean that there are numbers skipped, that was intentional in order to highlight some of the main ideas without including the entire document. I doubled-checked the KKK pamphlet numbering with the primary source at University of Missouri - Kansas City (http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/price&bowers/klan.html) and can't find the discrepancy. Let me know if I misunderstood you or if I missed something else, I'm never too proud to admit my mistakes and fix them :)

Hi Chrissy,

I just re-posted the PowerPoint with the hyperlinks corrected. Does TPT allow you to download the same purchase again? If not, let me know and I'll email you the new version :)

Thanks!

Hi Greg,

I am using your wonderful "Age of Exploration" PowerPoint. On slide 60 you mention coloring in colonies & writing underlined text in boxes. Do you have a map/notes page for this purpose?

Thanks! Lorie

Hello!

I am considering buying your four part powerpoint slideshow on Medieval Africa. Do you have accompanying handouts for notes and/or quizzes test for the unit for sale?

Thanks!

I just purchased your Americas Unit. Over half of the slides are covered in wingdings and not text. Do you know how I might be able to fix this?

Hi becca,
I've never had any of my PPTs do that, but we will figure out the problem. I would be happy to send you a few different versions to make sure one will work for you. What is a good email address to send it to?

Thanks,

Greg
