I saw that you are working on making yours into bundles. I teach 8th grade US History that goes from the First Americans through 1877. Could you make the bundles or tell me which ones you have in bundles already. I enjoyed using the few that I bought last year.

I need a little more information on your stick figure activity. I want to implement it this year in my class, but I haven't figured it out. Can you give me a little more clarificaton and where I can get some of of the informtion for my students as we do not have access to computers or a library.
July 5, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Greg's Goods - Making History Fun
Hello,

I have used the stick figure assignment in a number of ways. Usually, I model one for my students and we fill one out together as a class. After they feel comfortable with the layout, I have taken classes to the computer lab and given students choices (e.g. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison) before going to research on their own. Given that there is no computer access at your school, I would recommend a scaffold activity where some students are handed certain parts of the answers and the class goes around searching for the other parts, or you could have different body parts (answers) posted around the room and students circulate that way. Or, if they have computer access at home, it could be a take-home assignment (after you've modeled one for them, of course). Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Sincerely,

Greg

Thanks,

Greg's Goods - Making History Fun
Hi Andrew,

I have a few options in terms of bundles for World War II.

First, I have overview PPTs, $2-$3 seperately, but $12.97 together.

Here is the link:
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/-World-War-II-A-VISUAL-TEXTUAL-ENGAGING-MASSIVE-6-part-145-slide-PPT-477136

Second, I have more in-depth PPTs for the two theaters (Pacific and European) with guided notes to go with them:

Here are the links:
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/World-War-2-WWII-EUROPEAN-THEATER-90-slide-PPT-w-note-handouts-video-links-1070983

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/World-War-2-WWII-PACIFIC-THEATER-100-slide-PPT-w-note-handouts-video-links-1081297

And the third option is the massive bundle, which includes everything mentioned above, plus propaganda assignments, primary source documents with guiding questions, Top-Ten battles PPT, Nazis vs. Star Wars activity, graphic organizers and other resources.

Here is the link:
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/World-War-Two-WWII-Massive-Bundle-20-files-10-docs-10-PPTs-over-400-slides-1204786

I'm happy to answer any other questions and help with anything else you might need.

Thanks again, and blessings on your summer!

Good morning Andrew,

Thank you for your suggestion. I am actually in the process of doing this where possible. the only issue is that each file upload is limited to 200MB. What I've been working on is bundling packages by unit (PowerPoints, activities, primary sources, etc.). If there is a specific unit you wanted me to bundle, let me know and I'll try to work on that one first. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

thanks,

I purchased your Power Point Stone Age parts 1 and 2 just now. In it you say that fire began to be used in the Mesolithic period. This didn't seem accurate to me, so I went looking online and read several other sources. Everything else confirms what I thought was true, that fire was first used and controlled in the Paleolithic era, not the Mesolithic. How do you explain this conflict of information?
June 18, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Greg's Goods - Making History Fun
Good morning,

Thank you for pointing that out for me. I went through my Stone Age slides again and found that I had correctly indicated fire emerging in the Paleolithic Era on slide 9, but then incorrectly indicated fire emerging in the Mesolithic Era on slide 17. It has been corrected and a revised file has been uploaded. I have also included Stone Age Guided Notes as a graphic organizer that now comes with these PowerPoints.

thanks again for bringing this discrepancy to my attention,

Greg

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your message. I don't know if there is a recipe for making every class fun, but here are a few ideas that have always worked for me. 1. Building positive rapport with my students so that they feel comfortable and enjoy learning from me 2. Presenting information in a number of different ways to cater to different learning styles 3. Accessing prior knowledge by finding a relevant movie clip or political cartoon (e.g. mentioning Star Wars when teaching on Daoism or a clip from Cinderella Man for the Great Depression) If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them greghnoyes@gmail.com.

Hi Greg- I love your work and the content you have on here is fantastic! There are a couple of errors on the Australia part of the Google Earth activity. Franz Josef Glacier in in New Zealand as is the Wai-O- Tapu thermal springs. I'm sure Oz would like to claim them though! Also in the Australian Geography activity that the kids loved- mapping the states/deserts etc Tasmania is spelt as Tazmania. Other than that these have been great! If you wanted to do more history of Australia- they would be a seller down under.

For the Mexican-American War, I included the Texas Revolution (as a whole) as one of the causes, along with the U.S. annexation of Texas, the border dispute, and the Californios in Alta California. I have a separate Texas Revolution 4 x 4 that includes the Alamo as one of the events. I also have both the Mex-Am War and Tex Rev. as comic strip activities, too. Hope this helps.

Hello, Greg. I purchased 'Evolution vs. Creation' this afternoon and just had a chance to look at it tonight.

You will want to add an 'L' to slide six ... the 'word' should be spelled 'world' in the Bible verse.

The title screen says that there are 17 slides on evolution and 17 on creation but there are 10 for each. You may wish to change that and your description or -- to my preference -- add seven more slides to each.

You have not really addressed the differences between 'Biblical' creationists -- those who believe that the history revealed in the Bible is accurate -- and evolutionists here. Perhaps that could be the content of the other slides.

The field of ancient history is one in which cr & ev differ also ... similar creation, fall and flood stories exist in hundreds of cultures.

History of religion is another field in which the two differ.

In my view, you have limited yourself for the most part to 'creation' arguments of the 'intelligent design' school and this leaves out an equally numerous (or slightly more numerous in the very latest poll) school of Biblical creationists.

If you like, I could suggest specific resources to use. Generally, I'd recommend www.icr.org, www.creation.com, and www.answersingenesis.org .

Secular sources include the work of several archaeologists and historians on the "table of nations" of Genesis 10, including Dr. William F. Albright, plus the recent reconsideration of overlaps of several Egyptian dynasties.

If you look back at archaeologists and anthropologists from about 1875 you will find a number of lines of investigation based on Darwin's ideas which didn't pan out over the following years of studying various cultures in the field. Just a tip! :)

Blessings,
Bob Ford

Hi Wes,

The SWAT slide should have questions appear one at a time, and then the correct answers should spin at the next click of the mouse. I use this to have two students compete to "swat" the answer first on the board. Could be a test review, class competition, or both. Let me know if I can clarify further.

Hello Greg, I just purchased the Reformation Unit ppt bundle and am very impressed with the detail/information you included. I was wondering, though, if there are any cover page slides for when switching between the section topics in the all inclusive ppt (containing all 6 units)? For example, I noticed on the preview for the single unit on Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth that you had a slide with the TV/movie actors, but that is not included in the whole 6 unit ppt. Would it be possible to get a copy of the section intro slides or can you only get those if you purchase the units individually and not as the whole unit? Thanks.

Greg, I am a repeat customer. This looks great. However, I do not have any links working to video clips? Which video clip links are included? SLides 67 - 69 seems to have icons to push. The slide in the background is the great wall. I can not get connected to anything?Link seems broken. Thanks in advance for help

Greg,
I just purchased your Industrial Revolution powerpoint with the 8 video links embedded, but unfortunately 4 of the video links don't work. Can you send me the actual video files so that I may embed them in the powerpoint?

Thanks!

My download stops at Art and Culture, nothing on Reasons for the fall or the Byzantine Empire. Is there a second download I'm missing? There are also no games, graphic organizers or maps. Thank you.

Hi Caitmack5,

I am in the process of bundling unit PPTs with other unit materials (e.g. primary source documents, video guides, etc.). However, I am limited by the 200mb upload limit on tpt and my my unit PPTs tend to be very large files. I think bundling materials from multiple units would be too large of a file to upload. Is there something specific you had in mind?

Thanks,

Greg

I would like to gather materials in world history and US history. As a new teacher, it tough to find good materials. I don't really have anything in mind. Will you split the work between ancient and modern history?

Thanks for your help,

Hey Andrew,

Yes, I could look into bundling together PPTs and other materials from multiple units. Again, I will be restrained by the 200mb upload limit. I'll let you know when I come up with something.

Thanks again,
