Hi Laura! Even though I made this for 4th and up, I am glad you are going to try it with your 3rd grade kiddos. :)
I think some hands-on activities would go great with this PowerPoint. It would depend on just how much you want to do and how much time you have. Some ideas...static electricity experiments with balloons or potential energy of a blown up balloon vs. kinetic energy of when you let it go. Students could also make pinwheels, water wheels, electromagnets,etc. You could have your students do an experiment with the sun's energy by placing three thermometers in the sun, and covering one with black paper and one with white paper and then predicting which thermometer would get the hottest. You could have students do an energy survey of their home. How many appliances are plugged in, etc. Also, you would have to adjust this for the grade level, but you can also use my study guide for this - http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Forms-of-Energy-Study-Guide

I saw your new posting on the Sellers Forum. Welcome! I noticed that you have 531 items which is 27 pages. That's a lot for a buyer to look through. You might make a specialized category just for freebies. Vary what you put there to attract a more diverse group of buyers. Since most buyers on TPT have 3-4 free items per 100 listed, you should consider making more of your resources free. Also, you need to use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name, and date of creation on each of your products. TPT has had others "steal" the freebies and then put them up for sale on another site. Since this was pointed out to me, I add the following phrase to each of my products:

Wow! Good for you to have noticed that! No one else has caught that...I did some checking because I had heard the term could be used loosely. This is what I found out...
In linguistics, a homonym is, in the strict sense, one of a group of words that share the same spelling and the same pronunciation but have different meanings. Thus homonyms are simultaneously homographs (words that share the same spelling, irrespective of their pronunciation) and homophones (words that share the same pronunciation, irrespective of their spelling).In non-technical contexts, the term "homonym" may be used (somewhat confusingly) to refer to words that are either homographs or homophones. In this looser sense, the words row (propel with oars) and row (argument) are considered homonyms, as are the words read (peruse) and reed (waterside plant). I guess since we are educators and English teachers, we should stick to the stricter definition of the word! Thank you...I will correct the title of the product.

It still does not work for me. I will try again tomorrow on my school computer. I am worried that will not work either because I tried both my mother's and my computer in June and could not get past the opening page with the clapping and sound effects. I purchased the 8 parts of speech PowerPoint, but I am experiencing difficulty. I can open it, but the opening slide appears with some sound, but the next slide just has "noun" at the top. Nothing else happens. I have tried to get to the next slide, and the same thing happens--the word "verb" appears. That is it. I cannot get past this point. I have tried on two different computers. I actually have to press control, alt, delete to get our of the presentation. Any ideas? Thanks for your time. Lorie

Hmmm...I just downloaded it as a test and opened it, and I had no problems. I am using PowerPoint 2007, but it should work in the earlier version as well. Are you running some programs or something else at the same time? Sometimes if your computer is busy working on something else, it could be slow. If you send me your email, I can send it to you again as an attachment and then you could see if it was a problem with the download or if it is something going on with your computer.

I purchased your Jeopardy powerpoint and I love it! Thank you so much for creating such a great product. Both my grade 7s and 8s love it. I've used it for both grades this year and they've all found it very engaging. I use it for review of a unit and award prized based on teams for each class and overall grade. I do have a question though. I would like to be able to either change where the Daily Double is on the game board or create another Daily Double, but I don't know how to do that. I checked it and I don't see any problems. I downloaded it at school and at home. Maybe your PowerPoint program is a different version? If so, it might pop up a window that will tell you that the slides can't be edited, but you should be able to access it if you let it load. I don't know what else it could be.

I just got your message. I have been on Spring Break. My Language Arts Jeopardy on PowerPoint is a fun game you could try. Have each student study the notes for each category before playing the game. Categories include story elements, greek and latin roots, persuasive advertising techniques...but you can always edit and add your own categories, too. Thank you for your business. I am glad you like my PowerPoints. As for the ExamView file, if you do not have ExamView software, you may not be able to open this product. It states in the product description not to download unless you have the software. Most textbook programs out there today have ExamView software included, so you could check with your textbook provider.
