Kathleen A. re: Printable Hanging Thesaurus for your Classroom- Synonyms for Creative Writers
Hello,
This is a very useful, creative idea. I, like others, have a font request. I agree with the reviewer who requested simpler fonts for her K-1 students. My request is for "pretty" with the hearts. Some of my first graders regard the hearts as another possible letter, especially from a bit of a distance. I can get something to cover them but if you have time and are still refining this, perhaps an option w/o hearts? I don't know how this works but if you add the font requests to the document as options then you wouldn't have to email people individually.
Thank you for your work.

Thanks! I updated the file with options for "pretty". It is in the zip drive for the single sided thesaurus.
Thank you for your purchase! I hope it helps your young writers!

I purchased this but when I print it, the highlighted sections are to dark and I am unable to see the text. I have tried printing in draft but no luck. Has anyone else had this problem? And do you have any suggestions or can you lighten the shading?

I had this happen to me when I forgot to press "print in grayscale." If that doesn't work, t/m night I can fix the file to include an all white version so that you won't have the issue. I hope that helps!

Sandy C. re: Complete K-3 Common Core Writing Rubrics and Checklists
I just purchased your second grade rubrics and checklists. I'm a little confused as to the scoring at the bottom of the informational rubric. How do you get a score of exemplary? Where did you come up with those numbers? I'm looking at it right now, it only has one field to choose from: Use facts and definitions to develop points.

Hi there! Thank you for purchasing! I took each standard and broke it down into the parts...I scored them from 1 to 4 based on Marzanos scales (which my district required)

I am not at my computer currently but I will be tomorrow. Can I look at it tomorrow and get back to you? My email is bridgethilinski@gmail.com, send me an email so I can correspond with you easier. Thanks!

Thank you for the quick response. It did not download an additional file.. Also, are there corrections to this file you can email to me directly? Thank you for your help with the double sided download issue, I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there and happy new year! I just discovered your blog and your TPT store, and decided that you might know the answers to my burning questions! I have been a teacher for a long time, and a technophobe for much longer than that. I am TRYING to be better, so I'm doing a little research. What type of a program would you recommend for making teacher resources? I've had people recommend Illustrator, but that seems sort of complicated (or maybe not...how would I know?). Also, I love sharing my resources and want to do so on Teachers Pay Teachers (I teach reading and writing...mainly high school, but also some grade three). Do you have any recommendations on generating traffic? Is it best to have a blog or are there other ways to direct traffic to you store that you would recommend?

Thank you so much...

Hi there! I am new to blogging and just started this summer, as you can tell I don't have a ton of blog posts. I do traffic blogging school with charity Preston and that helps a lot with driving traffic strategies. Pinterest is huge and I have a Facebook page too.

I use PowerPoint for making products and artstudio iPad app for making clip art! Hope that helps.

There are two "populars". Suggestion: Making this product two-sided would be awesome. Then it could be seen from all directions, and wouldn't matter if it blew in the breeze a little bit! Have the same word on both the front and the back of the cutout.

Hi! I LOVE this product! I just tried to hang "bad" and it is SO long! Did you hang it all as one strip? Or, other suggestions? Also, did you keep them facing all the same way or do some back to back? ALSO! While I'm on it there are a few minor fixes you'll want to make... "pretty" is missing the heart symbols on either side of the main word "pretty". "unpleasant" has an extra t after the star. I'll list more as I find them. I agree with the other teacher who mentioned the font on "bad" is hard to read, but hopefully my third graders will be ok. If you have created an updated file with different fonts, I'd love to get them. I'm pamelamama and I use a gmail address. :)

Hi there! Thank you so much for the feedback! Actually the last buyer didn't end up emailing me and you know how teacher life goes, editing the file slid down to the bottom of my to-do list! I think I can fancy, fix, and add some extras to the file before Saturday. I'll email it to you directly too!

For the "bad" one last year I hung it in a place where the kids didn't walk... it was right by a corner. This year I hung my Hanging Thesaurus on the wall and put that one near the end. I'll send you a pic.

Thanks for inspiring me to put this back of the top of my list. I'll fix it up for you and get it to you ASAP. :)

I'm very excited to use this product. I think its a wonderful idea with quality results. I'm wondering if you could possibly change the font for 3 of your words. The font for "bad", "sad", and "little" are very hard to read for my kindergarteners and first graders. This is a time when letter formation is critical and they are copying everything I do. I especially find the letters "a" and "u" hard to decipher in the font used for the word "bad". In the word "sad" the letter "a" is hard to read. I would really appreciate a response. I don't want to use them until I can get the fonts changed, if possible. I do love the idea!! Thanks :-)

Hi Bridget!

Saw Colby Smith's post, I was going to ask the same thing! I also teach Kindergarten and I am doing a Franklin theme! Is it at all possible to make the turtle power pack with the Franklin as the turtle? Nobody has Franklin stuff anywhere and I am going crazy! I am willing to pay you extra... at this point NAME YOUR PRICE!! I would love to have Franklin all around my room as much as possible:) I know it is summer and you probably want to relax, but if it is possible please let me know. I am willing to wait for as long as you need to make it!! THANKS! :)

Hi Bridget,
This looks like a very nice unit. Is it aligned to the Common Core? Is it set up to teach in a Reader's and /or Writer's Workshop?
Thanks,
Deb

Thanks for checking it out! It is aligned to common core. Check the preview file because it lists a table of contents of the common core standards that are met. I don't use Reader's Workshop but instead Guided Reading Centers but I would think you could fit it in to Reader's Workshop. I use Writer's Workshop too and fit the lessons in, but it's not explicitly made for Writer's Workshop.

(I hope that makes sense)!
