Heather:

Have you considered doing a survey based on the Eight Great Gripes of Gifted Kids? I think that I will do one for my students, I am curious to know how they would respond.

Heather:

I am on the Executive Board of the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children (MAGC). Can I share this material with the other Board members? Technically, I think I am supposed to direct them to the download site, but some are not exactly tech savvy.

Thanks,

Michael

Shannon Bryant's Brain Train
Hi, Heather! i just downloaded your affective unit for gifted kids--I can't wait to use it! Just wondering if you had the chance to attend the National Gifted Conference last week in Atlanta? I presented there with my team. Thanks again for the free download of this unit!!!

I'm interested in this document, but when I download it, the words are gibberish! Any suggestions?

I'm not entirely sure what to recommend. I've never had that problem before. What program are you using to download? The Affective unit is a Word document - do you have this on your computer? It is also .doc, not .docx, which some new word programs use. You could try converting it to rich text format (.rtf) and see if that would help.

Dear Heather,

My name is Jack Dennison. I am the Editor-in-Chief of www.FunnelBrain.com, an educational website. I am writing to you because the quality of the work you have posted to PTP distinguishes you as a talented author. I am looking for teacher-authors to create custom study review materials for FunnelBrain (on a paid basis, of course).

These study materials would take the form of online flashcards, quizzes, and study guides for high school and college level courses, as well as for certain standardized exams such as the GMAT, the SAT or the GRE. We are also interested in lesson plans built around activities that can take place on www.FunnelBrain.com.

If you are interested in a paid writing assignment, please email me at jack@funnelbrain.com, and I will respond with details on the available assignments. In the meantime, please feel free to browse FunnelBrain.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Jack Dennison

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Third Grade Teacher Gifted Education Teacher/Coordinator/Specialist

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in the importance of hands-on, exploratory learning. Although I use worksheets, I use them rarely. I do my best to incorporate higher level thinking, critical and creative thinking, and the upper levels of Bloom's Taxonomy into my assignments. I also want my students to develop strong lifelong learning skills, such as the ability to research a topic of interest, that will serve them throughout their lives.
