I currently teach a mixed age class of 3rd and 4th graders at the International School of Morocco. Previously, I have taught 1st grade and 3rd grade, as well as teaching all grade levels in the computer lab at a Title I school in Georgia. I have taught both high income and low-income school students, and find that no matter where I teach, most kids need to look at every problem from 12 different angles. Although it is challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding.
I am a very hands on teacher, who teaches through brain based learning strategies. I also use arts based learning strategies and SIOP (Sheltered Instruction - for ESOL learners) daily in my classroom.
I have been involved with the Math Curriculum Committee, Quarterly Training, the Report Card Committee, and many other committees for my county. I also write units and lesson plans for the county website.
I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw University, and a master's degree in Instruction and Curriculum Design focused in Technology from Grand Canyon University. Through inservices provided by my county, I am also SIOP (Sheltered Instructional Observation Protocol) trained, and have recieved my certification in ESOL.
In addition to being a teacher, I am also a wife, and a mother of three boys - born in 2004, 2007 and 2011.
