This sounds very interesting. Is there anyway you can give more details as to what the project entails or provide a preview of some sort? Does it include a rubric or assessment of some sort? I just downloaded Minecraft for the iPad and am considering getting it for my students' iPads as well. Would love to kick it off with a great project.

Jane S.
Hi - I am interested in purchasing the US History lesson plans for $75, but I would like to know a little more of what exactly is in the packet. 500+ pages sounds very thorough, and the reviews are great. I will be teaching an ED (emotionally disabled) classroom of 3-5 students this semester, for US History - 1900-present. The topics listed in this packet are exactly the ones I want to cover with these students. Here are a few questions I have:

1) Do the lesson plans have objectives?
2) Are there readings included? Would the students need a text book to go along with the lessons?
3) What, if anything, would NEED to be supplemented to these lessons - or does the packet already follow most state standards necessary?
4) Are there tests/quizzes included?
5) Worksheets?
6) Videos (suggested)

I am, again, seriously thinking of purchasing this, but i want to make sure it will qualify for what I need to do. I can easily supplement the lessons, but if I know more of what is offered, I would know better how to decide to make the purchase.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

Sincerely,

Jane Schreiner

Hi Jane, thank you for the questions. To start in reverse order, all videos are specified as well as links to servers that you can use for free to show clips or the whole film in some cases. Many of the films have film analysis handouts to focus students on the content. Many of the worksheets I use are document driven. They are included. I do not include tests or quizzes. I use textbook entitled American Voices, and I can't believe it but if you search on line you might be able to find workable copies for them to use for readings. Readings supplement the lessons selected directly. They extend the concepts of the readings using documents and various learning strategies designed to get them to look at the time periods in various ways. The lesson objectives are not clearly stated for every lesson, but I break down the lessons into five to ten minute parts that use different learning modalities. I align my work with the California State Standards. More than anything, these unit plans are not the end all for the subject, but they do save you the time you would spend searching for all of the materials that I have collected. Hope that helps. US is my strongest subject collection. I hope that you enjoy it if you decide to purchase it.

I apologize that this series is in the process of revision and does not as of yet have a finalized table of contents. Much of the documents gathered are primary source material, visual links, and images that have been collected to support the academic presentation of the evidence. If you e-mail me at historyguru@ymail.com I can send you a sample lesson so you can see how they look.

No, they are constructed on test generators. But the DBQ essays are included as are documents that have follow up questions for use during lessons. Please refer to detailed table of contents on sample document for more information. Thank you for visiting.

Hello!
I was wondering if these lesson plans reference any of the Cal Dept of Ed Standards and if so, which ones?
Thanks!

Response: sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to email directly!
but it is the same a my username @ gmail.com
I was asking about standards because it references them in the description, but it was more a curiosity. I haven't been through all 400+ pages, but I'm looking forward to it!
And you're right, a table of contentce would make this even BETTER since the word "find" tool isn't great.
Thanks for the upload; glad to support a peer!

These lessons were created based on the California State Standards but do not have individual references embedded in the lessons. Would that be something that you would want to have to show to your supervisors?

Hello History Guru!

I purchased your year long US History II to present lesson plans and I have two questions...

1- do you have a "Table of Contents" so I'm not looking page by page
2. You refer to powerpoints, etc. Are those available also!

Thank you for your response and I am excited to using your material. I had been looking at it for several months...a sale and a coupon! And now it's mine!

Have a great day,

Cindy

Hi
Sorry about the delayed reply. That is a very good question. I will be working on a table of contents for this massive load of stuff. Just so you know the year of collected lessons has more than 160 lessons and extended activities, more than 500 pages of teacher notes, and lesson ideas, over 1000 selected primary source documents, songs, cartoons, graphics, photos, and video links, collected from more than twenty years of hunting for materials. I noticed that you asked for the same information regarding the world history curriculum and it is similar in size and depth as well. If you have any more specific questions, please ask.

It is cheaper to buy the unit plans or the semester. Units between 10-12 for 6-10 lessons, semester has 4-6 units. Buy a sample lesson to see what they are like. Thanks for your interest.
