I used specimen jars and kids loved it! Each of the six tables had 4-5 jars and rotated every 3-4 minutes. Students chose one jar to write about at each table.

This was a nice reinforcement of genetic variation and kids loved it because it was student centered. It led to great discussions about variations in humans that are helpful for certain careers or hobbies...because we don't really see natural selection in humans...showed a diagram of Michael Phelp's variations for swimming.

This was an awesome way to explore the principles of flight through paper airplanes and a fantastic tool to introduce the students to the scientific method! I used it with kids from 4 - 10 and they all came away with great information using this step-by-step tool.

A perfect transition from genetics to evolution. It was confusing at first so I made game boards for each table with squares labeled: alleles, genotypes (place your two alleles in the two boxes), event, event discard, dead (never use again), alive (use for next game; naturally selected alleles). In the corners I had keys of the phenotypes for the three genotypes and a key for the event card letters.

A viewing guide is a student friendly version of your powerpoint with blanks (and sometimes extra problems) for students to complete as you go through the ppt (powerpoint). Some sellers have them ready to go with the powerpoints they offer. It makes your items to sell more teacher friendly and ready to use along with answer keys. Think about it. More of us may be willing to purchase.

There are a variety of things you can use for the wheels, but in my experience, what is easiest/cheapest are the plastic sticks and wheels from Push-Up Pops. If you have a large straw, they fit right. For the cartons, I use half gallon, cardboard juice/milk containers. I usually cut them in half (length-wise) so you can get two cars from one carton. Ask the students for help in gathering supplies!
