I suppose my ratings are slightly biased. The lesson was described as being applicable for all secondary levels. However, it is better suited for elementary school. It might be a good introduction for 6th or 7th grade Australia unit, but even then, I would modify to increase the rigor. I teach 9th grade World Geography, and this lesson does not contain the rigor they need.

Hi Zack, To answer your specific question about the game, all necessary materials referenced on a teacher page are included. The only things teachers may have to come up with for any of our lessons might be a few art supplies, Internet access, and small, common items like coins. As to the broader question, I just looked through the unit so I could give you a decent answer. I think it would be fine for use in Canada. The only Americanized stuff is economic data and one reference to a Social Security number. You could use as is and note that it's similar but not exactly as in Canada, or you could find Canadian info. Overall, it's not that much that would make a difference at all. Hope that helps! The kids read the springboard (warm up) which is an informational passage explaining how the U.S. took the offensive in the Pacific and then they take on the role of an advisor to Truman, considering all angles of using the bomb (a decision-making chart and some primary sources relating to Truman's positions are included). Then, you read a script, taking kids through a guided visualization of the specific events of that day. It's a really good lesson that I think you'll love. The best way to tell what came from which unit is by the item number - for example, lesson 4100-1, is the first lesson in unit # 4100. Hope that helps!

The key explains that circles are female and triangles males, and only the royal family is labeled. The answers are in the Springboard box on the teacher page. Hope that helps! This lesson works with the previous one and requires the answers from the last activity. Kendra says she went into the store and added the page.

In the lesson you're referring to "Political Machinery" is the Springboard (lesson-specific warm-up) reading for which the students analyze the roles of the political boss, district captains, and community members. Then they use what they learn in playing a game called "You Scratch My Back..." Finally, there is a debriefing analysis to ensure the students understand the concepts. Just for the record, anything your students would need to complete our lessons (except a computer and minor things like coins for pawns) are always included. Hope that helps! Hi, I was answering a question from today and noticed yours had not yet received a reply. Sorry! We've all been at conferences and away from our computers the last three days. Anyway, the activity you ask about does not have an answer page. Like many of our activities, they don't really have specific, correct answers. We intentionally make our lessons open-ended so ALL students can succeed. The question students answer in a wide variety of ways is, "What do you think and why?" Almost anything can be right IF they can come up with their own ideas and justify them in a reasoned way with content. The thing is: low-level kids can do this, whereas giving the "RIGHT" answer can be daunting. We try to write so ALL students can feel included. Hi Maureen, I'm not sure how much I can help, but... Our company is a corporation and my business partner and I hold shares of stock. We are paid dividends, which in your case would be profits from TpT sales, based on our percentage of ownership. If you guys are equal, you'd just split profits equally. A Springboard is just our name for a lesson warm-up. Depending upon the lesson, they introduce lesson concepts, provide necessary background information for the lesson activity, and more-often-than-not they teach test-taking skills at the same time. If there's a reading, graph, map, etc., we usually write high-stakes-like test questions. They address a whole range of Common Core and other skills. Hope that helps! Sharon

The Springboard (warm-up) is multiple-choice test prep. The lesson part, however, is open-ended. Given the "facts" about Jamestown, students evaluate whether or not they agree with actions and decisions made. Then there's a mini-research activity. Hope that helps! Sharon

Everything is included! The teacher page for each lessons lists the materials needed, which with the exception of art supplies, are all included in order behind the intro page. There is also an objective sheet, which is an outline of the unit for kids to complete. It then becomes the study guide for differentiated tests in the back. You might be interested to know that we're working on Student writable files to go with the units, which should be available on our website very soon.

This really isn't a question, but a comment to you. I looked at the preview and was so impressed. I see you are from Georgia and it seems your book supports the GPS for 7th grade on Africa. When you have the SpringBoard activities, does the book include those? I have not received my official course/teaching assignment for next year, but I am hoping I will continue to teach 7th Grade SS and not something new. If I continue on with 7th grade SS, I will definitely want to purchse your book. Thanks for a great product. I wish I had discovered it earlier in the year when we were covering Africa. We're doing CRCT review right now, but with only a few lessons to go, I better wait and see what's in store for me for next year. Do you have a book on Asia and/or the Middle East?

Our geography units do SOMEWHAT support the GPS, as they were developed FROM our Global Studies curriculum binders, which we don't offer on TpT since they're more expensive. The binders actually correlate EXACTLY to the GPS, and are on the GA state approved list for curricula. The geography units do offer a "good start" and are more affordable and include springboards, Objective sheets, and tests. Still, before you decide, you might want to check our website and see the whole shebang first. There are tables of contents so you can compare both resources. Hope that helps! To answer your question, there are no teacher answers for this lesson since the students are required to offer their own ideas about how effective the New Deal programs were.
