Hi
Are you still able to put our other events into the format of your product? I talked to you last spring, but then sort of forgot about it...

Rainforest Reading  (TpT Seller) re: Ebook for Emergent Readers: At the Zoo (for iPad/iPhone)
Hi Jackie! I love your free iBook! I'm inspired to start selling iBooks /ebooks on TpT. I'm just a beginner and I have a question. How do you create your trademark?
I'm planning on creating a blog too. I'll have to research how to do it.
Thank you so much for your help. Keep posting your great work!
Sincerely,
Sabrina

Linda Utley  (TpT Seller) re: Book Activity: David Goes to School
Hi Jackie!
It's so neat that you made an activity to go along with the David books. I was just curious, do you have to get any sort of copyright permission from authors to make activities that go along with their work? I have done this several times in my preschool and would love to post some of them. Thanks!

I did not get permission from the author. I'm not giving any legal advice here but I'm just telling you why I decided it was safe to post an activity based on a book. I think this falls into the "derivative work" category. There was a great newsletter about this back in May and I found the link for you if you want to read and make your own decision. Just stay away from Dr. Seuss, I hear! http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs075/1102126629145/archive/1109897284108.html
Also, are you on the forums? This is a great place to ask questions from people who have a lot of experience. I'll look for you over there and maybe we can connect. Thanks for stopping by my store. I hope you enjoyed the product!

Turning Frowns Into Smiles Style Teaching
Good Evening, thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions. I think I'm going to do the free trial membership first. That makes the most sense. I am also noticing that I should have numerous products to offer prior to opening up shop. Your insight and honesty has really helped me. Once again thank you for your response. I wish you the best of luck with sales, as well as a successful school year. The fact that you took the time out to respond means a lot. Have a great and successful week.

Turning Frowns Into Smiles Style Teaching
Hello, I noticed on Rachael's "Tips for pricing", you mentioned that you just recently became a seller. I am aspiring to be a seller within the next month. I was just wondering how is it working for you? How did you make that first step (which seems to be the most difficult)? I hope that it is working great thus far. Have a great work week and I hope you make numerous sells!

Hi! Well, I'm not sure I'm the most experienced seller but I'll share my honest experience with you. I joined Tpt in June on the basic membership. I would start with that because it's free. Tpt takes a larger cut of each sale but you aren't putting out any money upfront. Then after I made a few sales and saw that I could make enough to pay for my premium membership plus, I upgraded. I also became more active in the sellers forums where you can ask questions and get feeback. My recommendation would be to join at the basic level, start reading all you can in the sellers forums, make a product or two and just see how it goes. If you end up joining, leave me a link to your store, I'd be happy to check it out. Jackie

Thanks I'll check it and respond here when I get it up. It shows 4 downloads but I haven't tried it myself. Thanks for letting me know
Update: I tried and was able to download it and open it. I reported this as a bug to Tpt. Can you try one more time? If it doesn't work for you, would you email me at bookblogmomma@gmail.com and I'll just email you a copy of the file if that's ok with you. Thanks! Jackie

Scipi
Scipi  (TpT Seller) re: Metric Me
I saw your posting on the Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done! Since you are looking for feedback, here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products.

Add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page for the teacher. (How do use this? Why? Etc.) List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product.

Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Here is how to do this. Use the insert and go to the right. You should see symbols there. Insert the copyright symbol, your name and date. It should look something like this: © V. Rauch (Scipi), 2011

Also number your pages. Finally, unless you want your products revised (I do for my tests) save everything in a PDF format as it is harder to change.

It is important that we see what others are doing; so, feel free to look at any or all of my freebies listed below to gather some ideas. If you care to, a rating or any feedback you might have would be great.

I am now your 18th follower, and if you would like, you are welcome to follow my store as well: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/SciPi/Products

The best of luck as you sell on TPT!

Thank you so much for taking time to give me feedback and so much helpful advice. I can't believe how much time other teachers on this site take to actually help each other. I don't think you would find this kind of collaboration amongst sellers in any other field! Teachers rock :) Thanks again. It is so nice to learn this at the beginning of my selling career instead of having to learn the hard way like the more experienced teachers did.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 8 years of classroom teaching experience. I began my career in a fifth grade classroom and after 5 years, I moved to a fourth grade classroom teaching job at my alma mater, Festus School District. I then finished my master's degree in classroom teaching and received certification as a reading specialist at the same time. I spent a year training as a first grade reading recovery teacher and then taught one additional year of reading recovery and early literacy intervention groups at a school in St. Louis County, MO. I am now homeschooling my boys for preschool and planning to start my oldest son in a formal pre-k program in the fall.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Most of my best training occurred while training as a reading recovery teacher. My teaching style reflect that training. I teach children to read within the context of continuous text. Writing is an important part of early literacy learning. I strongly support a balanced approach to literacy learning. Learning should be hands-on, child centered, and follow a constructivist model.
