I wouldn't call this a "test," more like an exercise to help students understand the novel. Much more appropriate, I think, for 7-9th graders than my 11-12th graders.

Thanks for the comment and clarification! This was designed for an 11th grade special education language arts class, so it makes sense that your 7-9 reg ed did well with this too. I used it after the weekly packets to assess their ability to do the focus skills (such as inferencing). Yes, the format is similar to those literacy activities. (See document preview).

Good morning, thanks for the question. I actually do not have an answer guide at this time. Some good sentence starters to give students are "This quotation shows...," "In this passage, the author reveals that..." or "I realized that...." Also, some good vocabulary to use for these analyses is discover, demonstrates, means, and foreshadows.
