When I made it, I did think about that and figured that if teachers weren't comfortable using that word then they didn't need to include it. I am planning on updating these centers over the summer and will see if there is another word that I can replace it with. (I may have run out of CVC words to use.) Thank you for your comments.

I absolutely love this product however I am wishing that the observations notes were right beside the checklist instead of on the next page. I would like to be able to take notes right beside the specific skills you are mentioning. I am not asking to edit any other way. With the lower kindergarten students, I would focus on learning how to retell stories through read alouds that you do in class. They can learn how to retell with guidance from you (I would start with familiar stories) and then "hopefully" when they get to some more difficult books on their own they will be able to use what they have learned to retell what they have read. For the worksheets/books- I would let them draw pictures (and label), rather than write sentences about the stories if they aren't ready for writing complete sentences yet. (Again, I would use Read Alouds). I hope this helps... Jennie

I am the Title I teacher so we look at all of the students in the grade and see which students are struggling. After we identify those kids, I look at their assessments to see what specific skills they are struggling with. These are the kids that I work with in a small group for half hour daily (I have two groups). I switch groups often depending on the skill and which students are struggling. The classroom teachers also use this to identify struggling areas so they can give those students additional help in the classroom or with parent helpers etc. I hope this helps:)

I actually use the Lucy Calkins list- it's very similar to Dolch and Fry- a lot of the same words. You can check out her list on her Teachers College of Reading and Writing Project website. Go to reading assessments and it's her high frequency word lists.

I love your short vowel games and so do my students! We've only played the short i game so far! I was looking at the short e game and you used bats for the pictures. Is there anyway that you could change the pictures to something that has short e in it? Like hens or eggs? Or something like that. I would really appreciate it. There aren't any anchor charts. There are two assessments for each of the four main standards.
1) Operations and Algebraic Thinking- The first assessment deals with numbers up to 10 (adding/subtracting etc.) and the second up to 20.
2) Number Operations in Base 10- The first assessment deals with numbers up to 50 and the second numbers up to 120.
3) Measurement and Data- 2 assessments
4) Geometry- 2 assessments
I also included a quick glance (4 pages) of all of the standards.
There is also 2 pages of individual assessments that cannot be assessed with paper and pencil. For example, asking students to tell you 10 more/10 less without having to count forward or backward.
The total pack is 42 pages, 34 of those pages are the actual assessments.

This is a Notebook file for the Smart Board so you have to have Notebook to download it. I'm not sure if you have that program or not. If you do, there may be something wrong. I only have it at school though and won't be there for a couple of weeks to check it out. I will check it when I go. Sorry it isn't working for you right now.

Another question-- Is it possible to run this on a Promethean board? Some first grade classrooms have Smartboards and some have Promethean... We are thrilled to find this resource, and hope to use it next year. It would be such a timesaver, and our old Word Wall sequence correlated with a program we are no longer using-- this year so many things are changing (we are a Race to the Top district) it is great to find one resource we won't have to start from scratch to make. I am writing you in regards to the Teacher Appreciation Jack Pot. I made a huge error. I was so excited on Sunday I spent hours and hours on a very slow computer going to every site that participated. I might have looked around a bit and became a follower. I was so inspired by all of you bloggers. Anyways, I went to every single site and added the TPA Freebie to my wishlist because the computer I was on has a virus and was not cooperating. SSSLLLOOOWWW!!!! So I thought if I just add it to my wish list on Monday morning I will download them on my school computer where I do all or most of my school work anyway. I was so excited I woke up super early so I could get to school and download them. Come to find out you had to pay for them. I wanted to cry. I emailed tpt and when they finally got back to me they said unfortunately there was nothing they could do. I was suppose to download them. I don’t recall ever reading that anywhere but I am very new to all of this. They said I had to email each one of you individually. Yes, then and there I just about started to cry. I had 120 items I added to my wishlist. I was on the computer all day Sunday doing this.
I am just wondering if you would be so kind to email or what ever you have to do so that I can download your freebie. I thought I would try! Thank you for your creative inspiring blog!!
