the smartnotebook files need Smart Notebook 11 software to open them. I f you don't have that, go to the website express.smarttech.com/# and open the files using Smart Notebook Express. Let me know how that works for you. You can use this site to show the files in class or an app with your IPad.

I have opened and demonstrated my files at a local school with Promeathean boards several years ago. They worked fine then. I believe the only compatibility issues are when Smart files have activities from the lesson activity toolkit. These Flash games just stall out when loaded. My products are simply notes, graphs, and equations. You should have no problems.

It has a daily quiz for each section, all the activities, two forms of a unit test and review things. It's on sale this weekend.
I plan to upgrade all my Calculus store during the summer. Had to let that slide this year, too much to do. Hope your year is going great.

At the moment, the only way to get an answer key is to work through the activity using the Internet. I was given these activities at a math fair several years ago and have moved from that district. Yes, each of my Pre-Calculus units can be purchased as a bundled set of FOLDABLES only. This includes ab eight-page bound book style foldable for students to use as a set of pre-made guided notes. The final lesson and all the work is included in the product. You can present the lesson by any method you choose.

If you are interested in separate lessons and not the bundled units, please let me know which topics. I'll work on creating those separately for you.

I personally use a wireless slate as my tool of presentation since I don't have a SmartBoard myself. If you own any tablet, you can download the Smart App from your APP store if you are interested in the SmartBoard files. Smart Express from Smart Technologies also allows you to open, interact with, and create SmartBoard files from any place where you have Internet access.

I asked the previous question prematurely. I did figure the foldable out. However as I was going through the foldables I noticed that some of the material is a bit advanced for my eighth grade students. I am covering this material in my algebra 1 class because it is in the new CCCS, but some of the topics are not necessary. Would you be willing to send me the foldables in Word format so that I can edit them for my students? Thank you so much. I do love the foldables and believe that they will be invaluable to my students.

Kari,
I'm sorry that you assumed the Smart Board Files were part of the Year of Foldables package. I've read through my description again to make sure that I had not indicated such. There are about 75 lessons in the year long bundle. I separated the FOLDABLES ONLY set for the year to help teachers in my local district, since we have no textbooks for our students this year. If the Smart Note files for the year were included the set would cost $375 if sold separately. I have created a set for the year that includes both items, if you are interested. Simply ask for a refund from T-P-T and purchase the new set. I'm offering the complete year for a discounted price of $295. This would be an $80 savings. You can find the product at

Betty, My preview items are Adobe *.PDF files. It's not necessary to own a smartboard to view the products. I use Smart Notebook 11 software to create my SmartBoard lessons.
When I'm teaching my students, I use a wireless slate "tablet." This allows me the freedom to move about my room. If you download the Smart Notebook 11 software, you are allowed a 30-day free-trial period to use their technology. Some teachers use my SmartBoard Lessons with their IPAD and the Smartboard APP that is available from the I-Tunes store.

If you don't plan to teach with technology, you can purchase a bundled set of FOLDABLES ONLY. There are times when I just use the Foldable document as I teach. I write directly onto the Foldable under my document camera. So, if you are looking for something that gives a guided approach to note-taking for your students, you might want to try one of my bundled sets of Foldables only.

My single (stand alone) lessons are sold with a Foldable for the student, a SmartBoard Lesson that follows the Foldable, for the teacher, and an answer key of the completed lesson.
If you don't have access to Smartboards or some type of wireless device, you might want to shop my bundled sets as the best approach for your needs.
Thanks for your comments and interest in my materials.

I actually don't have a SmartBoard in my classroom anymore. I make my Foldables (Alg 2 and PreCalculus) and my Student Notes (Calculus) with Microsoft Word. I use Smart Notebook 11 software to duplicate those documents. Then, when I teach the lesson I use a Smart Wireless Slate. Some of my colleagues use IPAD's and a Smart Notebook App that they purchased through I-Tunes. This frees me to move about the classroom. I've also used just the PDF pages under a document camera to write on them as I teach. There are several other slates by different manufacturer's available that will also work with Smart Products. You could check with your school IT Techs about them.

I have bundled every unit I teach as "FOLDABLES ONLY" for teachers that don't want to purchase the technology side. Then, I also sell just the "SMART NOTES ONLY" for teachers that don't like using Foldables. I also have the entire unit bundled with Foldables and Smart Board files for a discounted price.

Maybe I should consider selling individual lessons of just Foldables? Now that is an idea I haven't thought about yet.

The bundled set covers the entire Alg 2 curriculum for the Pearson/Prentice Hall Algebra 2 Honors Gold Series/Florida Edition text book.I believe there are about 73 individual lessons for the year. It is a comprehensive set of lessons for Alg 2.

Is there an Alg2 bundled unit for polynomial functions (Unit 5) as you have for Units 1-4?

Hi Mrs Adams, thank you for supplying such great products. I downloaded your Quadratics bundle and it has helped tremendously! I am teaching Algebra 2 for the first time in an Orange County middle school, so your products have been a lifesaver!

I did note two errors (sorry if you have already been given the heads up!):
On Final for “Factoring a Difference of Two Squares”: the question is factor 9m^4-1 and your answer is (3m+1)(3m-1). Should it be (3m^2+1)(3m^2-1)?
On Final for “Finding Common Factors”: the question is find the GCF and factor 7n^2-21 and the answer was 7(n-3). Should it be 7(n^2-3)?

Once again, thank you!

You are so very welcome. Our students at Olympia are doing alright with this resource, also. It gives them a personal journal of their knowledge. Thanks for the watchful eye. I'll correct those this weekend. I think I found another typing mistake on that same foldable. I appreciate your corrections. I made these so fast last year just to keep up with the new adoption. It was very difficult.

I am considering purchasing your foldables for the year of Alg. 2. Are the foldables available in an editable form, or pdf only? I was curious if I could adjust for my state standards.

Thank you!

They are in PDF form only and follow the textbook from Pearson for Florida. I haven't posted any editable items in WORD format due to problems that would occur when purchasers would not have the same fonts or Math-Type equations that I've used. If you decide to purchase them, I would consider sending you the editable form independently through email if you want to change them. I think Florida and Virginia standards are closely aligned, you might not need to change very many.
This textbook is rich with rigorous technology techniques, as well as, the necessary paper and pencil approach. I try to expose my students to the technological side as we journey through the course. This way they are aware of calculator features prior to entering Pre-Calculus and beyond, without the "fear that it will be on the test" for these young-learners.

I checked the file again and everything appears to be okay. It could be the site traffic is heavy since it was one of the featured free items this week. Please contact me at jean@j-adams.com if the problem isn't resolved. Thanks.

Julee H. re: Full Year of Calculus Student and SmartNotes
Are there parts of your calculus course that are not included? Are the worked out notes/solutions inlcuded?

My Calculus course Student Notes and Smartboard presentations follow the Larson Text for Calculus, I use the 9th edition in my classroom. His book presents the transcendental functions in Chapter 5.
The entire year is aligned with the content necessary to teach AP Calculus AB. So, I do not include the delta-epsilon definition of limit or L'Hopital's Rule. I include Slope Fields and Differential Equations and the Volume By Shell Method, however, this method is not tested on the AP Exam.
All the solutions are included in my bundle, and I welcome any recommendations or notice if there could be an error in my work. The solutions are in color as PDF files of my completed SmartBoard Lesson.

Can I purchase the whole year of AP Calculus Units at one time? What software is needed to open and use all of the features? I want the student handouts and teacher files both.

Yes, I can bundle the year and reduce the price for you to purchase the entire year. It will take me a day to do this. You need Smart Notebook software or an app that can open Smart Notebook files. I believe these files are also compatible with Promethean Boards. I use a wireless slate to teach from, while my students follow along on the guided notes. The student handouts are *.PDF files. Thanks, I'll work on the bundle today.

Erin V. re: FREE: Mix and Match Factors
I have never heard of open sort or closed sort activities. Can you please tell me how to use this as a relay activity?
October 7, 2013 Report inappropriate comment

Jean Adams  (TpT Seller)
A closed sort is when the teacher decides the category or characteristic. An open sort means the students are free to name characteristics and categories.
If you use the activity as a relay race, you would only use the cards A - T. Copy these cards on different colors, cut them out. Give each team of students a deck of cards. They can "race" to sort the cards in the six categories to place them correctly in the small paper bags that have been labeled with the characteristics. The team with the most cards placed into the bags correctly is the winning team. You need to have a different color deck of cards for every team.

The single lesson includes an 8-page bound book style foldable, a Smart Notebook 11 file to present the lesson on a SmartBoard, a wireless slate, or an Ipad, and a completed lesson key in color for $5.00. If you would like just the foldable for the unit, they are sold as a bundled set of 10 including the keys for $22 at this link

Yes, I believe Smart Notebook 11 and Promethean software are compatible. You can download a free 30-day trial of SmartNotebook software and try a demonstration yourself. I have visited other schools in my district and used my Smart files on their Promethean Boards. Verify this for yourself to ensure there are no problems with new equipment. It's been a few years since I've tried them. Thanks for asking and inquiring about my lessons.
