I downloaded the unit and the smart board notes were not included. There were pdfs of the notes, but not the actual files. I would prefer to use the actual notebook files as I tend to modify them from year to year. Would you mind emailing them to me? Thanks in advance!

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Wendy, You're right. I'm sorry I forgot to attach those files. They are now included in the bundle. Simply download the product again. I would need your email address to send them to do directly. Thanks for shopping.

I gave this to my "advance" group to review while I worked with the rest of the class. It gave me and them a good idea of where they are strong and what concepts needed a quick review before our test. Thank you for sharing.

I used this activity in a pre-calculus class and it worked very well. I only used the sin, cos, tan, and cot graphs from the matching activity, and the students really enjoyed doing this activity rather than problems from the book. Excellent!!!

April 4, 2014

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

My students love these matching activities and I love to hear them discussing mathematics aloud in class. It helps me know what they understand and also what is missing in their vocabulary as I circulate the room. Glad it worked for you. Thanks!

The students use these constantly to refer back to when we are doing exercises based on the material- in fact they are the only notes my students refer back to! If I don't use these they rarely look at the regular notes I give them.

Hooray. we've hooked another group of kids. I love to hear that. Dinah Zike's Foldable (R) are the best for linking learning to our students in manageable "chunks" big students and small students alike.

I am having trouble with creating the foldable. Are there better directions to getting the foldable to "fold" correctly?

April 1, 2014

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Brittany, If your pages were printed correctly, I recommend to my students to use the second sheet (pgs. 3 & 8, 4 &7) to make the short cuts at the top and bottom. This will be the burrito roll.

Then use the first sheet (pgs. 1&6 , 2&5) to make the slice up the center of the fold to within about an inch of the edges. Open this sheet, lay it flat with the title page on the right side facing up. Then, roll the burrito but hold on to the blank page (pg 8) and stuff the burrito into the sliced hole from the front. That way, when the burrito is "unrolled" page 1 (front) is on the ride side and page 8 ( blank side) is on the left facing you. Hope this helps. If not, email me at jean@j-adams.com and I'll take some snapshots of me putting this together.

the smartnotebook files need Smart Notebook 11 software to open them. I f you don't have that, go to the website express.smarttech.com/# and open the files using Smart Notebook Express. Let me know how that works for you. You can use this site to show the files in class or an app with your IPad.

Are your whiteboard activities compatible with ActivInspire (we us Promethean boards)?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

I have opened and demonstrated my files at a local school with Promeathean boards several years ago. They worked fine then. I believe the only compatibility issues are when Smart files have activities from the lesson activity toolkit. These Flash games just stall out when loaded. My products are simply notes, graphs, and equations. You should have no problems.

Debby F.

Hi again...i downloaded the updated Logarithmic quiz/test bundle, but when I unzipped it the files were all rational function files. You're definitely working too hard =). Thanks so much for the quick response. This did, however, turn into a bonus for me, as I found out you have a quiz bundle for the rational unit which I promptly purchased! Thanks again!

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

seriously! you're right. one more time. Geez...Debby, please respond that the correct files are online. I had two mistakes to correct in two different units. I need a vacation for sure. Enjoy the Rational Functions unit too... I appreciate your watchful eye. Thank you.

Hi, Ms. Adams,

I am a huge fan of your Algebra 2 units. My kids love the foldable notes! I purchased your Logarithmic Functions Quiz/Test bundle and found that the Logarithmic Functions Unit Review was not included. The key is there, but not a blank review. Is it possible to get that from you? Thanks so much!

With all the wonderful resources you have already posted on this site, I should feel bad for making a request but I am anyway. Do you have anything for the Probability/Statistics chapter in the Prentice Hall Algebra 2 textbook? I searched your catalog but couldn't find anything. My only excuse for this much laziness is that I'm neck-deep in studying for the actuarial exam.

Julie L. re: Sequences and Series Alg 2 Unit 9 (Bundled)

Hello, last year I purchased the foldables only bundle for the sequences and series unit. Do you have a completion bundle that has the review/quiz/test plus the station activity and the fan/pick activity?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Hey Julie, I was just thinking about you last week. I've spent the whole year working on my Algebra 2 curriculum. Yes, I have a Review, Quiz, Practice, Test Bundle here http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Sequences-and-Series-Review-Quiz-Practice-Test-Bundle-711906

It has a daily quiz for each section, all the activities, two forms of a unit test and review things. It's on sale this weekend.

I plan to upgrade all my Calculus store during the summer. Had to let that slide this year, too much to do. Hope your year is going great.

Timothy Tucker II (TpT Seller) re: Free Pi Day Activities and Poster

Can we get an answer key please?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

At the moment, the only way to get an answer key is to work through the activity using the Internet. I was given these activities at a math fair several years ago and have moved from that district. I'm using them Friday myself, just so I can make a key. It will be after the PI Day Celebration before I can post them for you.

Jessica H.

Hi there! I was wondering if there is any possibility to get any of your lessons if we do not have access to a smartboard? I am specifically interested in the pre-calculus lessons.

Thank you!

Jessica Heuer

Thank you!

Jessica Heuer

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Yes, each of my Pre-Calculus units can be purchased as a bundled set of FOLDABLES only. This includes ab eight-page bound book style foldable for students to use as a set of pre-made guided notes. The final lesson and all the work is included in the product. You can present the lesson by any method you choose.

If you are interested in separate lessons and not the bundled units, please let me know which topics. I'll work on creating those separately for you.

I personally use a wireless slate as my tool of presentation since I don't have a SmartBoard myself. If you own any tablet, you can download the Smart App from your APP store if you are interested in the SmartBoard files. Smart Express from Smart Technologies also allows you to open, interact with, and create SmartBoard files from any place where you have Internet access.

I asked the previous question prematurely. I did figure the foldable out. However as I was going through the foldables I noticed that some of the material is a bit advanced for my eighth grade students. I am covering this material in my algebra 1 class because it is in the new CCCS, but some of the topics are not necessary. Would you be willing to send me the foldables in Word format so that I can edit them for my students? Thank you so much. I do love the foldables and believe that they will be invaluable to my students.

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Got your email. (One note, you can send me an email through the TPT message system I believe so it isn't public.) I've taken it off the Q & A page. I'll be in contact with you.

Mary K.

Good morning. Very sorry to have to ask this question. Last night I purchased your foldables, but even after reading the directions I cannot figure out how to make the book. I tried to print the pages individually and double-sided. What am I doing wrong? I just do not understand how to put the book together. Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

Buyer

Hello. Last night I purchased a year of foldables for Alg. 2--I must have been carried away with the sale and purchased this thinking I was getting review/quizzes/tests and such. Do you have such a year product containing this kind of work? I made a huge mistake and hoping I can, maybe, trade in my purchase for something else (is that possible?). I really wish I'd waited.

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

I do not have the full year of Alg 2 products finished yet. I have each chapter bundled with quizzes, tests, and review activities. These include foldables

too.. I have three more bundles to

finish before I will offer the full

year. I'm sorry you didn't realize

what you purchased. I feel my

description is complete. When

i finish my full year, I will make a special bundle of just tests and quizzes for you at a discounted price. Please send me your email address so I can contact you when it is finished.

Chuck Nachtman (TpT Seller) re: ALG 2 UNIT: Rational Functions FOLDABLES ONLY

Do you have this whole unit as a bundle somewhere like the Alg 2 quadratic unit?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Not yet. I'm currently working on that chapter bundle. It should be done in about a week. I'm glad you find my resources useful. Check back later.

Thank you

Buyer re: ALG 2 UNIT: Conic Section SMARTNOTES ONLY

Does the smart notebook require a special program to open it? Also, do you use this set and the foldables together?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Yes, the Notebook file can be opened with Smart Notebook 11 software from Smart Technologies. If you are using a tablet such as an IPAD, there is a SMART APP in your store to get that will open the file. You will also need SPLASHTOP or some other remote mouse APP in order to write on the SMART file to display and use as a teaching tool in class. If you don't own the SMART NOTEBOOK 11 software, it is possible to get a free 30 day trial from this link http://smarttech.com/DownloadNotebook11Win Or, you might want to try Smart Notebook Express to open the file through the Internet.

Kari Hasz (TpT Seller) re: ALGEBRA 2: A Year of Foldables

I thought that the smart board notebook files were included in this, not just the pdfs of the teacher's notes. Are these available?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Kari,

I'm sorry that you assumed the Smart Board Files were part of the Year of Foldables package. I've read through my description again to make sure that I had not indicated such. There are about 75 lessons in the year long bundle. I separated the FOLDABLES ONLY set for the year to help teachers in my local district, since we have no textbooks for our students this year. If the Smart Note files for the year were included the set would cost $375 if sold separately. I have created a set for the year that includes both items, if you are interested. Simply ask for a refund from T-P-T and purchase the new set. I'm offering the complete year for a discounted price of $295. This would be an $80 savings. You can find the product at

Hi Jean, I am working on my lesson plans for next week (attempting to get organized before school starts :)) and I noticed what might be an error in Example #2 for Solving Polynomial Equations (Polynomial Functions Unit Bundle - Foldables only). I think the answers should be x=2, -2, 2i and -2i. I could be wrong, but just thought I would check with you.

Hi Jean - I was using the Algebra Linear Systems Review Quiz Test Packet

The file labeled as answers for 3-3 (Solving Systems of Linear Inequalities) is actually the answers for 3-4.

I use WINPLOT.exe. It's a free graphing utility from the site http://math.exeter.edu/rparris/winplot.html It's pretty easy to learn and there is a great community of help available. Thanks so much for your positive feedback. I love making great activities that spark both teacher and students alike.

Chuck Nachtman (TpT Seller) re: QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS ALG 2 Lesson 2: Standard Form of a Quadratic Function

Is there a bundle with all of the nine lessons together?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Yes, I have the entire unit 4 bundled including assessments for $45.00. This is about half the price if purchased all together.

Betty Clark (TpT Seller)

I do not have access to any smartboard technology. I tried to download the free from their site just so I could open files to no avail. Do I have to have smartboard to look at your smartboard items? I want to buy while the sale is going on, but am hesitant if I cannot look at my purchases.

Thanks,

Betty

Thanks,

Betty

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Betty, My preview items are Adobe *.PDF files. It's not necessary to own a smartboard to view the products. I use Smart Notebook 11 software to create my SmartBoard lessons.

When I'm teaching my students, I use a wireless slate "tablet." This allows me the freedom to move about my room. If you download the Smart Notebook 11 software, you are allowed a 30-day free-trial period to use their technology. Some teachers use my SmartBoard Lessons with their IPAD and the Smartboard APP that is available from the I-Tunes store.

If you don't plan to teach with technology, you can purchase a bundled set of FOLDABLES ONLY. There are times when I just use the Foldable document as I teach. I write directly onto the Foldable under my document camera. So, if you are looking for something that gives a guided approach to note-taking for your students, you might want to try one of my bundled sets of Foldables only.

My single (stand alone) lessons are sold with a Foldable for the student, a SmartBoard Lesson that follows the Foldable, for the teacher, and an answer key of the completed lesson.

If you don't have access to Smartboards or some type of wireless device, you might want to shop my bundled sets as the best approach for your needs.

Thanks for your comments and interest in my materials.

Jean

Julee H.

Hello, I just purchased your Calculus full year bundle. I am excited to start using the lessons. Is it possible to get Word versions of the student notes since I don't use the same book and the lesson numbers do not match our book?

Thanks!

Julee

Thanks!

Whenever I see a unit designed for smartboards I tend to back off because I don't have access to one- Is the material still usable/valuable even if we don't have access to a smartboard. Many of your products interest me and I am pretty sure that I have bought a few individual things but anything with smartboard attached to the description I generally avoid.

Thanks

Thanks

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

I actually don't have a SmartBoard in my classroom anymore. I make my Foldables (Alg 2 and PreCalculus) and my Student Notes (Calculus) with Microsoft Word. I use Smart Notebook 11 software to duplicate those documents. Then, when I teach the lesson I use a Smart Wireless Slate. Some of my colleagues use IPAD's and a Smart Notebook App that they purchased through I-Tunes. This frees me to move about the classroom. I've also used just the PDF pages under a document camera to write on them as I teach. There are several other slates by different manufacturer's available that will also work with Smart Products. You could check with your school IT Techs about them.

I have bundled every unit I teach as "FOLDABLES ONLY" for teachers that don't want to purchase the technology side. Then, I also sell just the "SMART NOTES ONLY" for teachers that don't like using Foldables. I also have the entire unit bundled with Foldables and Smart Board files for a discounted price.

Maybe I should consider selling individual lessons of just Foldables? Now that is an idea I haven't thought about yet.

Hi Jean,

The foldable for rational graphs was great! I was wondering what topics are included in your Algebra 2 year of foldables bundle?

Thank you,

Connie

The bundled set covers the entire Alg 2 curriculum for the Pearson/Prentice Hall Algebra 2 Honors Gold Series/Florida Edition text book.I believe there are about 73 individual lessons for the year. It is a comprehensive set of lessons for Alg 2.

Penelope S.

Is there an Alg2 bundled unit for polynomial functions (Unit 5) as you have for Units 1-4?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

I'm working on that this week. Hope to be finished by Thanksgiving Day. Glad you noticed.

Algebra Simplified (TpT Seller) re: Algebra 2 Domain and Range Match Activity

Just thought you would want to know, the first line of this product says "IF YOU LIKE THIS FREE SORT & MATCH ACTIVITY PLEASE RATE ME!" Now that it isn't free you might want to remove. ;)

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Oops! My mistake. Forgot that I gave it away for the Florida Council of Math Teachers Conference for several months. I'm glad you spoke up. Thanks for letting me know.

Hi Mrs Adams, thank you for supplying such great products. I downloaded your Quadratics bundle and it has helped tremendously! I am teaching Algebra 2 for the first time in an Orange County middle school, so your products have been a lifesaver!

I did note two errors (sorry if you have already been given the heads up!):

On Final for “Factoring a Difference of Two Squares”: the question is factor 9m^4-1 and your answer is (3m+1)(3m-1). Should it be (3m^2+1)(3m^2-1)?

On Final for “Finding Common Factors”: the question is find the GCF and factor 7n^2-21 and the answer was 7(n-3). Should it be 7(n^2-3)?

Once again, thank you!

You are so very welcome. Our students at Olympia are doing alright with this resource, also. It gives them a personal journal of their knowledge. Thanks for the watchful eye. I'll correct those this weekend. I think I found another typing mistake on that same foldable. I appreciate your corrections. I made these so fast last year just to keep up with the new adoption. It was very difficult.

Connie Hadley (TpT Seller)

I am considering purchasing your foldables for the year of Alg. 2. Are the foldables available in an editable form, or pdf only? I was curious if I could adjust for my state standards.

Thank you!

Connie

Thank you!

Connie

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

They are in PDF form only and follow the textbook from Pearson for Florida. I haven't posted any editable items in WORD format due to problems that would occur when purchasers would not have the same fonts or Math-Type equations that I've used. If you decide to purchase them, I would consider sending you the editable form independently through email if you want to change them. I think Florida and Virginia standards are closely aligned, you might not need to change very many.

This textbook is rich with rigorous technology techniques, as well as, the necessary paper and pencil approach. I try to expose my students to the technological side as we journey through the course. This way they are aware of calculator features prior to entering Pre-Calculus and beyond, without the "fear that it will be on the test" for these young-learners.

Buyer

I am having trouble downloading the quadratic tournament. Please advise. Thanks so much.

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

I checked the file again and everything appears to be okay. It could be the site traffic is heavy since it was one of the featured free items this week. Please contact me at jean@j-adams.com if the problem isn't resolved. Thanks.

Julee H. re: Full Year of Calculus Student and SmartNotes

Are there parts of your calculus course that are not included? Are the worked out notes/solutions inlcuded?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

My Calculus course Student Notes and Smartboard presentations follow the Larson Text for Calculus, I use the 9th edition in my classroom. His book presents the transcendental functions in Chapter 5.

The entire year is aligned with the content necessary to teach AP Calculus AB. So, I do not include the delta-epsilon definition of limit or L'Hopital's Rule. I include Slope Fields and Differential Equations and the Volume By Shell Method, however, this method is not tested on the AP Exam.

All the solutions are included in my bundle, and I welcome any recommendations or notice if there could be an error in my work. The solutions are in color as PDF files of my completed SmartBoard Lesson.

Currently, I have just the student handouts and the SmartBoard Files bundled. My activities for AP Calc are sold as separate items. Here is the link for the entire year of student handouts and SmartBoard Files:

Buyer

Can I purchase the whole year of AP Calculus Units at one time? What software is needed to open and use all of the features? I want the student handouts and teacher files both.

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Yes, I can bundle the year and reduce the price for you to purchase the entire year. It will take me a day to do this. You need Smart Notebook software or an app that can open Smart Notebook files. I believe these files are also compatible with Promethean Boards. I use a wireless slate to teach from, while my students follow along on the guided notes. The student handouts are *.PDF files. Thanks, I'll work on the bundle today.

Erin V. re: FREE: Mix and Match Factors

I have never heard of open sort or closed sort activities. Can you please tell me how to use this as a relay activity?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

A closed sort is when the teacher decides the category or characteristic. An open sort means the students are free to name characteristics and categories.

If you use the activity as a relay race, you would only use the cards A - T. Copy these cards on different colors, cut them out. Give each team of students a deck of cards. They can "race" to sort the cards in the six categories to place them correctly in the small paper bags that have been labeled with the characteristics. The team with the most cards placed into the bags correctly is the winning team. You need to have a different color deck of cards for every team.

Buyer re: QUADRATIC FUNCTIONS ALG 2 Lesson 4: Factoring Quadratic Expressions

Does this $5 lesson include lessons 1-10 or just the one?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

The single lesson includes an 8-page bound book style foldable, a Smart Notebook 11 file to present the lesson on a SmartBoard, a wireless slate, or an Ipad, and a completed lesson key in color for $5.00. If you would like just the foldable for the unit, they are sold as a bundled set of 10 including the keys for $22 at this link

Buyer re: Solving Linear Equations - Task Cards With QR Codes

I believe there is an error on #2 and on the teacher answer page #10. Would you please send a corrected copy? Thank you!

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Yes, I just corrected that. Thanks for noticing. If you email me personally, I will send you a free item for your efforts.

Penelope S. re: Functions and Graphs Lesson 8: Graphical Transformations

Is it possible to use your smartboard lessons on a promethean board?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

Yes, I believe Smart Notebook 11 and Promethean software are compatible. You can download a free 30-day trial of SmartNotebook software and try a demonstration yourself. I have visited other schools in my district and used my Smart files on their Promethean Boards. Verify this for yourself to ensure there are no problems with new equipment. It's been a few years since I've tried them. Thanks for asking and inquiring about my lessons.

Teri Thompson (TpT Seller) re: ALG 2 UNIT: FUNCTIONS, EQUATIONS, and GRAPHS FOLDABLES ONLY

If I buy the foldables only, does it come with an answer key?

Jean Adams (TpT Seller)

yes they do. the keys are presented in color using the final lesson presentation from the Smart Board. it's exactly like the Foldable. Enjoy! Thanks!
