Teri, Your question totally changed my plans for today!! I thought I'd give you a quick, simple answer and low-and-behold I have realized that the error is totally mine! This is one of the first products I put online years ago and I when I did that I had changed the format of the multiple choice test from 4 possible answers to 3 possible answers. In the process, your question has made me realize that I actually took out the correct answer ("he gave himself a haircut") and kept in only the 3 incorrect answers! I can't believe that I didn't catch that; and, even more, I cannot believe that someone else has not asked me about that after all of the sales and feedback I have had on this product! Hooray for you to have noticed and taken the time to let me know. I am going to correct this error and have the corrected product sent to each former buyer! When buyers have this kind of problem it is almost always because their adobe reader needs to be updated, according to our tech department. This has been their advice in the past:
Mac users who have purchased the product need to update their adobe reader, then 'open with' adobe reader (control-click on the icon, click 'open with' then choose'adobe reader'). Otherwise it defaults to 'preview' which doesn't look right.

Gayle, This worked well with my end-of-the-year 4th graders so I think it would likely work well for yours as well! If you have some lower students that have difficulty understanding directions or writing responses, they could be paired with some of your more advanced ones or you could make accommodations for them to give shorter responses. Many of the questions should prompt good class discussions.

The formats of my novel studies are all pretty similar. They each have different kinds of activities depending on the content of the book, but I set them up the same in that I divide the book into separate reading assignments and try to include vocabulary, comprehension, and work that is fun but stimulating. They always include an answer key. The majority of the pages are black and white for more economical school copying but I include some color for added impact.

I have just aquired your Report to the Principal's Office packet. I like what I saw but would like to make some adjustments to make it more specific to my own students. However, the form in which I downloaded it does not allow for changes. When I printed out my unit, I had several pages where letters were missing from words. For example, on assignment 1 question 5, it prints out as, "Explain how you can this book is c on. On assignment 2 question 2 prints out as, "Use quota on marks and write the page number you found it on." Question 3 prints out as, "Who is Louis and what is di erent about him?" There are others throughout.
Is this something you can fix on your end? Otherwise I will have to retype each sheet which negates the purpose of my purchase. Let me know. :-)

Hi Jean. I just finished using this packet with my fifth graders and I think it's great. I just wanted to point out something I noticed in the crossword puzzle on page 18. In the word bank, immaculate is used but the answer for 10 across should be addiction, based on the definition and the letter "a" at the beginning. I thought you might like to know for the future! Thanks for such a great product!

I seem to have some sections that are blurred out after I downloaded. For example, the top part of page three has lots of blacked out areas with the dialogue from Mr. Edgit and a list of words. I am assuming there might have been some kind of activity involving hyperbole.

I'm really sorry to hear about your problem. I have sold this product to many buyers and no one has had an issue with bluriness, so I'm quite sure that your issue has to do with your computer. Our tech department has put directions on the download page to walk buyers through the way to avoid such problems. Have you read their directions yet? I suggest that you go back to the download button and try that and if for some reason that doesn't work, you will need to contact them for clarification. I will also report this just to be sure that they are notified of your problem.

I've found that sending my documents in Word format doesn't work well: the formatting gets garbled and misplaced which is the main reason I always send pdf files. Thanks for your question. I would not recommend this particular book for 4th graders: the subject matter is really geared to older students and might bring up some topics that they are not quite ready for. I'd suggest one of the Andrew Clements books (Frindle, Extra Credit, A Week in the Woods), Roald Dahl's book,Witches, or if you are wanting Spinelli in particular the books Loser and Wringer would prompt great discussions and be challenging. Of course I do have packets for each of these so take a look at the previews for them to see what you think!

I'm not sure about the nature of your question: was there a problem with the character chart or do you just want an extra copy? Once you've downloaded the product to your computer, you should be able to print it as many times as you want on your printer. I inquired with the TPT website tech person and was told the file is fine. However, Mac users need to update their adobe reader, then 'open with' adobe
reader (control-click on the icon, click 'open with' then choose
'adobe reader'. Otherwise it defaults to 'preview' which doesn't look right.

In this packet students are given a vocabulary bookmark on which they are to write new and unusual words as they come to them in their reading. In each assignment, students are to choose two words from their bookmark and define them. So, in answer to your question, in this packet I do not provide the specific vocabulary words. The Lunch Money book test is separate from the novel study. It is a two page quiz that can be used with or without the novel study. The novel study is a 15 page student booklet plus answer key and does not include the quiz. Some teachers buy both, others purchase one or the other.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
My 20-plus years of teaching included 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades in Colorado, California, New Jersey, and Illinois. I've recently retired and now find myself as busy as ever! While I taught I loved creating meaningful and stimulating worksheets for my students, especially literature packets...but finding the time for it was always a challenge. Now I can spend a significant amount of time creating and publishing to help other teachers who are too busy teaching to have time to create as well!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
I grew up in Southern California: paradise in those days~especially Santa Barbara! I still love beaches and warm sunny skies. I have two children (Lindsey and Forrest), two step-children (Karen and Tod), and five grandchildren (Ben, Joey, Marissa, Erin, and Ryan). My husband, Jeff, and I live in the Rocky Mountains where we enjoy golf, cross country skiing, long walks, magnificent views, and reading. I am involved with raising funds for non-profits through my church community as well as P.E.O., a national organization that provides scholarships for women in need.
