Honnye - Thank you! My 6th graders really liked the interactive 3D tour of Lascaux Caves! They loved learning about cave art so much that I added a lesson to my unit plan where students used what they'd learned to draw their own cave art. It turned out to be a great extension activity.

shutterbug47 - You're welcome! I'm glad I could help you teach archaeology and early civilizations! That was one of my favorite lessons to teach my 6th graders. I included a "shoebox archaeology dig" activity, which I highly recommend if you're willing to do some classroom management planning to prevent dirt messes. (You can Google the phrase and get many great lesson plans.)

Very thorough. I used this as an intro to my unit on archaeology but I think I will revisit it again at the end of the unit. It is great at defining terms - especially primary and secondary sources. The pictures and colours make it visually attractive and help to hold students' attention. This powerpoint introduced a lot of concepts and we went through it slowly in order to really discuss archaeology. Several of my students said they wanted to be archaeologists when we finished this powerpoint! What more could a teacher ask for in an introductory lesson!

When I used this PowerPoint with my students we did a "shoebox archaeology dig" (there are lesson plans all over the Internet if you want to try it). Jamila - Thank you for your comment! I have to admit that I stole the technique of adding the times next to each question from another teacher. I thought it was an excellent classroom management idea. It worked really well with my middle schoolers!
If you like "America: The Story of US - Bust", I also have a free dvd analysis guide for "America: The Story of US - Revolution" on the Revolutionary War. I like using those because they give information that's not in student's textbooks. My middle school students liked learning about the first sniper (very typical for their age group!). They were amazed he could make those long shots without some type of huge sniper scope they have in their video games!

Almira - Thank you for your comment! I've told other teachers that ancient civilizations is my favorite era to teach and study. While I was in the Navy I was lucky enough to get to tour the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Karnak, and take a short boat ride down the Nile River. I also went to Athens, Greece (we didn't stay very long there though).

Shaunaag - Thank you for your feedback! I've been thinking about going to a "10 slide minimum" rule for myself on Power Points, which means I would need to add three slides to this one or remove it. I've recently created a similar activity called "Getting to Know You" Twitter Bulletin Board Pages. It has a simpler layout compared to the Facebook sheets, making them easier to use with younger students. They're available to download FREE if you want to come and get one. Maybe those will work a little better for your activity.

Thank you for your feedback! I've used this since my first year of teaching. Parents, students, and visitors always linger in my room when they see the forms. They like looking at all the student pictures and reading the biographies. If you want to show students how they've changed over the year (especially middle schoolers), take a picture of them at the end of the year so they can compare! It's really eye-opening for 6th and 7th graders especially. Enjoy!

You won't be able to personalize it like you might a Word document, but we could work out something where I could personalize it for you and re-save as a .pdf. (Let me know if you want to do that.)

Yes, I do have at least one other Analysis Guide for this series. I did one for the "Boom" episode. Here's the summary from History Channel's website:
"America strikes oil and the boom time begins. Henry Ford brings the motorcar to the masses; the nation hits the road. Massive engineering projects modernize the West. Intended to cure vice, Prohibition fuels the growth of organized crime in burgeoning cities."
If you're interested, let me know and I will search through my files and post it on my TPT store.

I don't know if you've heard of it, but there are hundreds of thousands of Stumbleupon users now. It's an untapped market in many ways. TEACHING EXPERIENCE
- I taught private snare drum and drum set music lessons for 8 years at a music store in Muncie. - 6th - 8th grade Social Studies, 6th grade remedial English, and 6th - 8th grade Study Skills.
MY TEACHING STYLE
- I always differentiate instruction based on ability levels, student interest, and learning style. - My students "show what they know" with product - based assessments as well as tests and quizzes. - Plenty of field trips! - I include lots of technology in my lessons! I use websites, free web applications (like studystack.com, which I HIGHLY recommend), and/ or web activities that go along with my lesson plans as I write them. - I use edited primary sources at least once per unit.

- "Outstanding Future Teacher" award from the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. - "Outstanding Social Studies Methods Paper" award from Ball State University's 12th Annual Student History Conference.
