blhall re: Civil War Cartoons
I just purchased your Civil War cartoons. I am not happy with the quality an the quantity of the cartoons. I can't see most of the detail which makes the most of the cartoons. Also, just thought you might like to know that I just found a new copy of the book,Lines of Contention: Political Cartoons of the Civil War,with 200+ pages for $3.95 + $3.99 shipping. Only $2.00 more and get my choice of cartoons. I thought for $6.00, I would be getting more cartoons. I feel like I have been taken advantage of. I would really appreciate a refund and will gladly delete this download. I haven't put in my rating yet.

Thanks for the input. Again, being that History is my minor, I feel like that is not my strong suit. Thanks for the heads' up about the lack of detail in the PowerPoint itself. One of the things that I'm not sure I mentioned in the description is that when I do this with my students, I pass around the cartoon on tagboard for the students to really examine the cartoons for what they are. I was not aware of the book you mentioned, and based on your information, it sounds like a good deal. I'm not sure how the system works as far as a refund, but if you want to let me know if Scholastic can do that for you, I would be more than happy to refund your money since you feel dissatisfied. I hope this helps, if at all.

Jen--

A note from S.J. Getz - you can save the presentation files and use them in your class... you just have to be connected to the internet to view them. You may have problems with your school's internet set-up that doesn't allow your copy of PowerPoint to pull images from the internet. That problem will have to be solved by one of your school's techies. Try to save a presentation and let me know what happens! ¡Gracias!

Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try that. (It's also hard when my computer @ home is more up to date than our computers @ work, the joke I make is that our 10-yr-old computers are almost as old as my 13-yr-old students!)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

5th year teacher for the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (a suburb of Detroit). I have taught both American History and Spanish. I pre-interned and student taught in Kalamazoo (MI) Public Schools. Substitute teacher in various districts in metro Detroit (Bloomfield Hills, Livonia, Novi, Farmington, and Waterford).

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have high standards for all of my students and continually push them to go for the gold. I have no problem making a fool out of myself if it will help my students learn the material. This combination of high standards and joking atmosphere help me bond for my students.
