Hi Jenn,
I purchased the Decoding Strategies poster set. I understand all the pictures except the ghost under the -ed suffix. What word goes with the picture?
Thank you.

First off, AWESOME activity! I can't wait to use this! My question is on the second page under the picture of pie it says "light," is that correct? I really may be missing something, if I am please let me know! :) Again, love this!
November 11, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Anna,
Light is a noun. I was trying to bring in one that was more abstract for my students. They actually had a harder time with class because they thought of the room instead of the people.

I purchased your Decoding Strategies: A Quick Reference Guide for Parents & Guided Reading. If I want to share the decoding strategies with my parents, do I need to purchase multiple licenses?
September 27, 2013

Beth,
No, the download is meant to be shared with your parents. I would only ask for multiple licenses if you want to share with other teachers or their parents. Thanks for checking!

I don't understand what is going on. I have sold thousands of these with no issues but someone else said they had trouble with the download this week also. The only other thing I can think to suggest is to select 'print as an image' under your advanced printer options. I have emailed TpT support to see if they can help.

Does this mean printing as an image didn't work? I emailed TpT support because I have sold thousands of these and not had this problem so I am wondering if it could be something on their end with the download?

Jennifer,

I was having trouble with the download, too. I tried downloading it quite a few times and could not get past page 3. Finally, I tried print from the first page and had to put 1-18. I cannot get page 4 to show or print. What is on page 4? Is it directions or one of the posters? I even upgraded my Adobe Reader. I appreciate your help. I love the posters!

Thanks,
Mari

How strange! I never get issues with this product. There are a lot of graphics on page 4 (main poster) so maybe if you check the print as an image box in your printer menu? That worked for me with someone else's product I couldn't get to print.

I purchased your pack but on some of the slides for reading informational text and reading literature there are not lines separating every student or separating all of the standards and the spacing is off. The slides with foundational skills and language standards are perfect. Can I get reading literature and reading informational slides the same way?

I'm so sorry. I cannot figure out why some people are having trouble with this since I tested it on 3 computers! I am remaking the file into a fillable pdf which is better anyway since you only have to type the names once! Send me your email.

I currently teach SFA reading. Many of the strategies of these strategies would be beneficial for the students I teach. I understand why you began with 1+1, 1+2, going all the way through the 1s, and then began 2s with 2+2, and 3s with 3+3, etc. (because the lower equations were on previous cards), but I was a little bit surprised to see after purchase that there are no 10+ or +10 cards other than 10+10. Do you have these or is it possible to get them? Thank you.

July 22, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
I still do not understand why this happens for some people. It makes no sense since it is a pdf. Try opening it with preview instead of Adobe Reader. I've also been told that trying a different printer works. If not, send me your email and I will try sending it to you in a different format. Sorry you are having trouble!

Hello, I just printed, and pages 4, 5, 7 and 8 are being cut off at the top and bottom of the page. I was wondering if the pages are set for 8 by 11?
July 8, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Hi. Some of the pages were formatted for legal size paper. If you'd like to print it on 8.5 x 11 there is an option in your print menu you can click to have the image fit your page size.

Jennifer my email is cdryden@bcps.org. Thanks so much for sending me the uneditable versions. I'm using Windows 7 and Powerpoint 2007 on a PC (tried both desktop and laptop PC to see if it made a difference). Thanks for your prompt response. I think I am going to love this resource when all the lines are correct :)
June 17, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
I am wondering if it is something about PPT 2007? I opened it with a different laptop that had 2008 and it was fine. I sent you the non-editable version.
June 21, 2013

carolann22 re: Common Core State Standards Kindergarten Assessment Checklists {editable}
I bought the Editable Common Core K Assessment Checklists, but when I look at them in PowerPoint some of the pages are formatted incorrectly (some of the pages have half of it missing, some pages have the lines are missing in between students or standards). This is irritating to me because I need uniformity, lol. Can you see what the issue is or let me have a NON editable version - I'd rather have a PDF file with all the lines/pages formatted correctly than an editable version with formatting that's non-uniform. Thanks!

ETA: THe pages that are incorrect on my downloaded file are pages 5, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27. I have done NOTHING to the file that would have changed the formatting, this is straight after opening it up.
June 14, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
I'm so sorry! Everything looks fine in my version of ppt. Can I ask are you using Mac or PC? What version of ppt and Office do you have? Send me your email and I'll send you the uneditable version while I try to figure this out.

bethanysnorton re: Daily Editing Word Problems {Common Core}
Jennifer,
I have been looking for a new "Daily Oral Language" to start in August. I really like what you have created, but like others have mentioned, I would prefer the whole week be on a page rather than having the kids get one strip a day. Is this something that you are working on or could be done? I was just wondering before I made my final purchase. :)
Thanks so much for your time and creativity!
June 13, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Hi,
Yes, I am working on a revised file that will have all the week's strips on the same page. It will also be Common Core aligned.
Thanks,
Jenn

Terry Yordan re: Mother's Day Gift ideas: If You GIve a Mom a Muffin
Hi,
This is an off topic question. You have some wonderful daily word problems on your blog. They are older posts. Because they are old, they are not accessible. Would you consider re-posting or making the, accessible?
We are still in session and I thought these would be so good for my students. Who knows I could get a start on next year.

I purchased 4 licenses for your decoding strategies. Obviously, I love them!
When I printed them though, many pages (title page, table of contents, whole decoding strategies page, etc...) printed colour images but crossed out all the print. I cannot give this to the teachers as is. Please let me know how to fix this error. Thank you.
May 21, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. I would try upgrading your PDF viewer or perhaps opening it with preview if you have a Mac? This is the first time I've heard of crossed out print. Sometimes just printing to a different printer works! I hope one of these suggestions work for you.

joni16511
The other part bounces around means - the checklist itself moves if I don't click and drag perfectly. I just tried Arial- still a pain to work with. Some pages just don't line up perfectly with cut and paste. The font size is 16 on the original page but 18 on later pages - that needs tweaked by hand. Have you gone thru and tried to cut/paste on every page? Sorry to be so negative but I also had my techy daughter play with it and she found it to be a cumbersome process and was frustrated. I really just need a tool I can work with without a fancy font and cutsey clip art. With 2 kdg classes I just don't have the time to try to enter names all thru this twice.

joni16511 re: Common Core State Standards Kindergarten Assessment Checklists {editable}
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I did change the font and size- I'm just not finding this user friendly. I'm spending too much time trying to line things up and then the other part bounces around.
May 12, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Did you try adjusting the line spacing? Can you explain what you mean by "other part bounces around?" I just tried changing the font to Arial and it lined up without me changing anything else. Maybe try that?
May 12, 2013

joni16511 re: Common Core State Standards Kindergarten Assessment Checklists {editable}
Could I have it without the clip art so I could edit it? I would much rather have a version I could work with - I'm thinking if you did not use the clip art then you could have an editable version available.
May 12, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Joni,
I hope my response to your post below helps. Posting my original without clip art in Word will most likely not make things easier for you. If you don't have the same exact version and all the same fonts, things will be moved around and misaligned. Please let me know if you continue to have problems and I'll see what else I can do to help you.
May 12, 2013

joni16511 re: Common Core State Standards Kindergarten Assessment Checklists {editable}
I am having a hard time copy/pasting the names. What is the trick? It doesn't line up, and the more I try the worse it gets.
May 12, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
The font I used lined up so I am guessing if yours isn't lining up that you must not have that font.
1. You can change the font to anything you like and then adjust the font size and line spacing (on the tool bar under paragraph. The button that has an arrow pointing up and one pointing down. If you hover over the icons the name will come up.)
2. You could go get the same font I used http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Font-Fun

Hope that helps!

I love this method of learning sight words! I have a question for you. I teach first grade and so far most of my kids are doing great. For your lower students, would you send home the whole page of words or would you break it up into smaller sections?
April 26, 2013

Hi Joni,
I'm so glad you like it! I send home the whole page but have explained to my parents that they should work to master the first list before moving on to the next. We also include a few sight words on every spelling test since these are often hard to spell.

Go ILLINI!

Jennifer, I purchased your If you Give a Mom a Muffin (which I loved) but I live in an area where coffee is taboo, is there a possible of getting an alternate page to replace the ones with coffee, Hot Chocolate is always a favorite. If not I completely understand. Thanks Megan
April 18, 2013
Jennifer Bates  (TpT Seller)
Megan,
For a fellow Illini alum, of course I will edit it for you! Do you like the wording with cocoa or hot chocolate better? The original is in an old version of Word and it is NOT playing nicely with the new versions. I think I am going to have to start over but truthfully it could use a facelift anyway. I will try my best to get it done this weekend.

Bizarre, that should not happen with a PDF! Try opening it with preview instead of Adobe Reader. I was also told that when the person tried a different printer it worked. If neither of those work send me your email and I can try sending it in a different format. So sorry, it printed fine for me.
