I have taught in SC and TN, in poor schools and affluent schools, public schools and private schools, and even elementary and middle schools. I also lead professional development workshops for colleagues on such topics as differentiated instruction, civic education, authentic assessment, and learning-centered schools.
My preference is to act as a facilitator while students discover the world around them through hands-on experiences, self-reflection, research, or group work. I also believe strongly in integrating different subjects for authentic learning experiences.
I have been nominated for Teacher of the Year several times, but my greatest honor was being named Teacher Mentor by Scholastic.com in 2004. Many of my units are posted online on the site, but some were posted incompletely. There are lessons which complete the units posted here under the same topics.

I am a very creative writer who has mastered the writing of lesson plans. I have compiled more plans than I can post here, but I do take requests. Feel free to email me if you can't find what you're looking for, and I'll do my best to help. If I don't have time to write something, then I will at least point you in the right direction to something that can help you on the web. Thanks!
