HI!
I am wondering what size this prints? I'm looking to make a 12x12 scrapbook page from this. Would that work?

Thanks!

How many playing cards are there for each set of words? In other words, how many children could play per set?

There are 6 spinners and 24 cards, so there are 4 cards per word set/spinner. Thanks for your question. I will go back and make it more clear in the product description. -Jennifer

I'm so sorry that it took me some time to respond. I was out of town this weekend. A customer commented on the lack of X and Z, several months back and my response to her is copied below. I am starting to go back and update some of my older products, and as I do I will make this more clear in the directions. In my newer letter matches (penguins and bunnies), I duplicated a couple of letters instead of eliminating letters. Thanks for your question.

"There was some thought put into this when the activity was designed, and I would love to explain why there is not a Y or Z on the trees. Four game boards were created. Because it would cause some drama with a group of children if some game boards had more letters/owls than others, it was very important that each game board have an equal number of letters. There are 26 letters in the alphabet, so this did cause a problem. I thought about putting duplicate letters on some game boards, but I felt that this would also cause some problems when a group of young children played. Who would get the first one that was drawn? For that reason, only 24 letters were used on the trees. I, however, included an x and z card so that children could identify and/or practice making the sounds of these letters when they were drawn. In the complete owl set that I sell in my TpT store, both capital and lowercase x and z cards are included with this particular activity so that children can also play match games with them."

MrsElle re: Build a Snowman Interactive Sequencing Activity
Hi Jennifer,
What a darling idea. When I try to print this out, the grey of the snowman does not print. Does this happen when you print them out?
Thank you,

Hi Mrs. Elle,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having problems printing the document. I just downloaded the document from the website and did a test print. The gradient in the snowman printed fine. The director at my preschool printed a copy of the activity for each classroom, so I know that it works on other computers too. When a customer experiences a printing problem, I always suggest that he or she download the document again. Check the ink supply on your printer, and perhaps try printing on another printer. TpT support also told me about the following tip to help with printing problems:

Choose the print icon.
Go to Advanced.
Choose Print As Image.

If they need an updated version of Adobe Reader it can be downloaded here:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

If all else fails, please provide me with your email address and I will email the document to you. My email address is jgrime@columbus.rr.com. I hope this helps you out. Thanks for your purchase. -Jennifer

Grethel Hogg re: Apple Tree Count: Math Game for Preschool and Kindergarten
Is the spinner included? How will children attach apples to the tree? I am looking for games they could count and match one to one.

Thanks for your interest in and questions regarding my Apple Tree Count. The two spinners that are included with the product are the number portions of the spinner. The mechanism is not included. I cut out the center hole and attach a spinner mechanism that I purchase at United Art and Education, but you can also create a mechanism from a brad and a paper clip. Here is an excerpt from the directions on the product:

Spinner:
If you use a traditional 1-6 die, a game can be over with only two rolls of the die. So, I often make a die by drawing 1-3 dots on a small cube-shaped block. I have also included two spinners that you can print. Spinner A is for an easier game while Spinner B is for more advanced play. I use a 4” spinner that I purchased at United Art and Education http://www.unitednow.com/product/3528/game-spinners.aspx . You can also make a spinner with a brad and paper clip as shown on this link http://ccfungames.edublogs.org/2010/09/09/paper-plate-spinner/

You can add Velcro to the apple tree and to the back of the apple counter if you want to attach the apples to the tree. When we use the game in our preschool, the children simply cover the apples on the tree with apple counters. I usually cut out and laminate counters and then hot glue them to the top of milk caps. This makes them a little easier for little hands to handle. Here are the directions from the product:

Game Pieces:
You will need 10 apple counters for each game board. Little apple ornaments or erasers can be used as counters, but I have also included printable counters that you can use. I find that attaching the printable counter to something makes them easier for little hands to grasp and move. The printable apple counters are sized to fit perfectly on the lid of a milk jug. WARNING: USING SMALL LIDS IS A CHOCKING HAZARD AND IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3. When I apply the game pieces to a lid I simply laminate, trim on the dotted lines, and attach to the appropriate sized lid with a hot glue gun. Instead of attaching printable game tokens to lids, I sometimes back them with self adhesive foam to give them a little bulk. You may also wish to apply velcro to both the back of laminated game pieces and on each apple on the game board.

I hope this helps answer some of your questions. Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

Genise Vertus re: Counting Spiders: Emergent Reader Freebie
Hi:
On your thank you page, you left out the word "for" in thanking teachers for trying out one of your freebies. Also, would you consider adding pages for "0/zero". I try to teach my students the importance of this number, but a lot of products does not include this most important number.
Thank you so much.

Oh my! Thank you for letting me know about my typo!

If the addition of "0" was something that I could do quickly, I would be more than happy to add the page on the freebie. Unfortunately, I checked out my original emergent reader file in Illustrator and some of the original pages had not been saved. If I can figure out how to add the pages to the PDF without re-creating some of the original pages, I'll do it and post an update to this question. Otherwise, I value your suggestion and will try to add zero to future emergent readers where it is appropriate. Thanks. -Jennifer

Hi Jennifer-
I bought your inital sound owl pack and for some reason after I download it, I only get 9 pages. I thought it was supposed to be around 60 pages. Please let me know...
Thanks,
Janelle

Hi Janelle,

I'm sorry that there is some confusion regarding the page numbers in the product.

The description for my owl initial sound sort states that the set includes nests for the letters B, D, F, G, H and 4 owls for each letter. The product description and file details also clearly show that the product contains 9 pages......so 9 is the correct number of pages that you should get when you download that product.

Perhaps you had been browsing at other products in my store. The Owls:Activities for Early Childhood Themes is a bundle of several of my owl activities (including the initial sound sort). This set does have more pages....but only 33.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Just wondering if there was any possibility that you were making this for all letters of the alphabet...? Thanks

Hi Stephanie,
I don't have plans at this time to make this set for all letters, but it is something that I can consider in the future. I made this to use in a literacy center at preschool during our owl theme. Our owl lesson only lasts 1-2 days. It would be too overwhelming to put out all of the letters for the kids, so I just chose to focus on a few. I have a similar turkey-themed activity on the drawing table and I was planning to use some different letters for that so that the kids can practice different letters and sounds. I will think about adding more letters and possibly all letters to that set, but quite honestly, I don't know that I could offer a product for $2.50 if I significantly increase the number of letters used. Thanks for your feedback.
