Bonjour jer,
I will be teaching French I with the Bien Dit series next year. (after years of teaching upper level I am now assuming the 8th grade!)
I was wondering if you have a bundle of all of your Bien Dit materials?
Merci bien!

I have bundles for each chapter of BD 1 (9 and 10 not listed yet). This is my first year with the series, so the bundles aren't as complete as my DFN bundles, but I will be adding to them. Thank you for the interest.

I purchased the friendship circle reflexive verb activity. Would you be able to send me the word file so I can edit a few things to make it more accessible for my students? Thanks!

Hi,

I have a question. I have purchased several "jumeau" activities but I have not used them successfully. How does the activity work--do students go around asking questions? Or do they state the sentences that are on the papers ie :Marc doit ranger sa chambre.?

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,
Hope Evanoff

This is a low stress activity. Students read a statement on their paper. The second student replies "pas moi" or "moi aussi". Students should take turns reading sentences. Student sheets could have 2 or even 3 statements the same without being twins. The focus is on reading well enough that the other student can understand what is being said and listening carefully enough to know if you have the same statement. Students keep mingling until they find their twin - the person with the same 5 statements, but in a different order. It is important that they not look at another student's paper, but listen carefully.

Kathreen H. re: Mon pays song by Faudel Cloze listening activity
I have been looking for songs to share with my students from francophone countries. I teach middle school and my students are novice level. Could you point me toward those songs that would be appropriate for this level? I would most especially like a variety of countries represented.

The songs that I have listed are geared for high school. Le Toi du moi by Carla Bruni has some easy vocabulary (some difficult too, but you can give those words) - all of my songs are easy to edit by filling in or changing some of the words that I have left out. She is generally easy to understand. Leve-toi et rap is good because it is the type of music they like to listen to, but some lines are difficult to catch or understand (I give all of those lyrics). Sénégal fast-food by Amadou et Mariam has some easy level vocabulary that they can catch. Petit pain au chocolat has enough easy words that you can leave out and it has a cute video. Travailler c'est trop dur by Zachary Richard is country. Mon pays by Gilles Vigneault is a nice Canadian ballad; I would reduce the number of words left out. Check the songs on YouTube and see what you think.

Hi,

I just purchased the maps of Spain and was wondering what you use as a guide or what resources you use with your students to fill in the maps. I will be using this with fifth grade students.

Many thanks,

Aimee

When I do map lessons, I start them 1 at a time. I practice pronunciation and add information about each item (highest mountains, longest river, etc). The Amsco books are a good resource. If I have time for the computer lab, I have the students find additional information about each point. I normally have a quiz on 1 map before starting the next one. For cities or regions, I like to have students make and present a brochure, poster or power point on one of the places. For basic information Wikipedia or CIA World fact book are good.

Buyer re: Rouge unit 2 Family Feud game
With family feud is there some way to cover up the answers in each category? The students are supposed to guess the most popular answers in each category, right? Well, how do I remove the answers as well as the amount each is worth? Thanks.

When you are in presentation mode you cannot see the answers. Print a page for you to refer to so you can click and reveal the correct answer. If you click on the score, the word will appear. If you click anywhere else, an X appears.

Hello - I got the newer version of Word and that solved the problem. If there is a way I could amend my ratings to reflect a higher accuracy score for you, let me know. It was my old version of word that was the problem- the puzzles came out all wacko.
Now the kids love doing them. Homework they enjoy - what a concept!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught French at the high school level for 18 years. I have also taught enrichment classes to younger students and continuing education to adults.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is interactive; if the students use the material and if they have fun doing so, they will learn it faster and remember it longer. MY PRODUCTS are usually in Word format so that you may easily edit to match the vocabulary in your text, or change spacing to split into separate worksheets. If something is listed as a PDF and you would prefer to have it as a Word document, leave me a message with your e-mail address under Q&A for the product and I will send it to you. I do not count direction pages or answer keys in my page counts.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was a recipient of the French Government Teaching Assistantship and spent one year living in France and teaching English to French high school students.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA & MA in French

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Although I do not teach them, I have studied German, Spanish and Italian. I was an aide and substitute teacher for kindergarten for two years. I have a teaching minor in history.
