I have them started but I have a a lot more on the list that I want to add. Maybe I'll just add what I have and include the rest as I finish them. Look for them by the end of the week.

Are you making a "Part Four" Assessment to include the remaining Common Core standards? These assessments are excellent!

I bought your Back to School ELA Common Core Assessments for First Grade. Is the First Grade Quarter 1 ELA Common Core Assessments- Including PBL Project at all different? If so how different?

Thanks,
Robin

It's pretty much completely different. The Back to School packet included assessments for Kindergarten Common Core standard and the Q1 tests are all based on First Grade Standards. There is a similar decoding test that just uses different words, but the rest of the assessments are different. I also have a Quarter 2 packet that are also completely different from even the Quarter 1 ones. I'm trying to build both by skills and by cognitive level. If you do decide to purchase them, let me know what you think! As I've been giving them to my students this quarter I've been finding things to modify and make better so I definitely welcome any feedback!

No, my district has looked for a scope and sequence but haven't really found one to use. Our mapping team looked at all of the skills we're supposed to master by the end of the year and mapped it out as we thought it made the most sense. If you have suggestions or things you think would make better sense, let me know!

Have you put together 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter assessment packs, or if not, are you going to do it. My teaching partners and I have really found the first quarter pack extremely helpful. Our district has no common core assessments as yet. You were a lifesaver!

My plan right now is to make Quarter 2, 3 and 4 assessments but I don't have them finished yet. I just came back from maternity leave last week and I'm finding myself running around like a chicken with my head cut off to try to get caught up. I hope to get to work on at least Q2 next week as soon as our dang conferences are over. I'm sorry! My own teaching team is harassing me to get them finished so they know what to teach to, but I'm just struggling to find the time. Soon! I promise. And if you have any ideas or great strategies that you think I should include feel free to let me know. This common core thing is kind of a learning process. Thanks for using my stuff. It's good to know people like them and find them helpful.

Update: They're finished and I just posted them last night! http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/First-Grade-Quarter-2-ELA-Common-Core-Assessments

Are the standards printed on each page so that I know which standard is being tested on each page?
September 28, 2012 Report inappropriate comment

Jeremie Tharp  (TpT Seller)
There is a page in front of each individual assessment that tells what the standard it is and gives you directions for how to administer them (except for the speaking and listening checklist... Don't know how I missed that...) and it is also listed on the table of contents at the beginning. Thanks for looking!

No, it has mostly first grade standards, where as the other one was based on Kindergarten exit standards. This one includes the same Speaking and Listening Checklist, but the rest is different. There is a digraph assessment, a few that focus on character and setting, some punctuation ones, as well as a couple of others. I tried to choose standards that we cover near the beginning of the year.

Hi!! Can you tell me how the writing paper is ruled. I am looking for something less than 3/4 in. because I find that too big for first graders. I use the same journal for the entire year. Are you able to adjust the lines? Thanks.

I just used a 24 pt font to make the lines. I will modify the line sizes and add it as a third page to the listing so you can choose either size you like. Good idea!

Hi Jeremie!

I love this download. I shared it with my class a few weeks ago and one of my kids gave me the idea to roll two dice instead of one. I made a template and was wondering if you'd be ok with me posting it on my blog as a free download. I would of course give you full credit for the idea! (If your not ok with it, I completely understand!) Either way, my kids love it! :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my sixth year with my little learners and I am learning to enjoy the satisfaction of creating many of my own classroom materials.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I think that the more effort a teacher puts forth, the more effort she will receive from her students. I try to give my students a reason to be engaged in their learning, even if it is simply through a theme they find entertaining.
