With lower elementary, I always like to start the election lessons with an election book. Some great ones are "My Teacher For President" , "Duck for President" (which go with some of the activities in this packet)! I do not have an exact lesson plan that correlates with this packet, however when I do teach the election process, these activities can fit right in with any lesson that you or someone may already be using.
In my class, after we read one of the election books, we discuss the election process, what it is, why we have it, who participates, etc.... and go from there. We always do a "mock election" in our class on various topics, which is when we use the voting ballots. It is easy to use one of the stories as your election, (duck and farmer) (teacher vs. other selected candidates) that way the students can relate to the election process. Of course this year, using the actual candidates (Obama & Romney) would also be a great addition to the election unit.
We also discuss the roles of the president and what he does while in office, and great qualities that this person should have.
I hope this helps and that your class has a blast while learning all about the election process!
