In LA we are just beginning first year Common Core Transition focus on Math. Our school district created a "test and try" report card for Kindergarten with Common Core that also reflects Common Core Reading Standards. We have already decided to make 1st Q for Parent Conference as reflected in your report card. Mostly because we have no rubric as yet and realize that our students are not ready to be assessed on these skills.
Question: Can you offer suggestions for which skills to begin assessing at each subsequent quarter? Would be happy to see any rubric you may be using.

This is our first year with the standards based report card also. We are piloting it in kindergarten and grade one. We are working on changing the language to be more parent friendly.
For math, we have created a common assessment that all students participate in beginning, mid-, and end year to assist with the math grading. The assessment is aligned to the common core standards . We also have a writing prompt with a rubric to assist with those standards, AIMSweb, letter ID,Handwriting Without Tears program to assist with the ELA standards.
Since it is a pilot year for us, we haven't determined which skills will be graded upon for each quarter at this point. Teachers will collectively make that decision just befor each marking period.

On your first grade Report card, I downloaded the preview and there are 3 pages to read through and it seems as if all subjects are covered. When I looked at how many pages altogether there are 3. Could you let me know what more is on the report card that I need to pay 3 dollars for? Do you expand on the social studies and science area?

80% of the standards are consistent across the nation....the other 20% is unique to its state. It equates to having 1 standard in ELA and Math that is different.
