justi126 re: Math Treasure Island Maps
Hi. I am subbing for 3weeks 7th grade math. I am not a math teacher! I will finish with a geometry map project and looks like your treasure map is a good activity to start with. Question: can it be done without compasses and protractors? they have rulers but that's it.

Yes, it can. The objective is to give the students foundational experience with the coordinate plane. Essentially, the map is quadrant I.

HI Jim!

Thanks so much for the Adventure Express Info! The last three pages are blank and the three prior to that say "Notes" at the top - is that correct?
Thanks!

Hi Beth, Yes. That is correct. The reason is the pages of the book were originally set up to be printed which means that the number of pages had to be a multiple of 4.

If you have any other questions or comments, please contact me at integerjim@mathsquad.com

Jim, I have purchased your math treasure map 2 weeks ago and still have not received it. Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process. I look forward to using your idea. Thanks very much. Let me know at markc3711@att.net.

Hmmm. Did you order it as a download or as a printed booklet? If printed, from what vendor? Do you have a receipt?

have included a sample in the document. Photocopy it (reduce its size if you like), and you're set to use math bucks with your students!

I would like to also implement this great idea next year.
Could you please post the graphics you have used to create the Math Bucks?
Perhaps as a second page of the document you have posted.
Thanks for sharing this great idea.

I have read your idea about Math Bucks and I would like to implement it in my classes next school year. It would be so great if you could attach the document you print out to get the actual Math Bucks! I would try to create my own but it would take so much time. Maybe you could share it with all of us!
Thank you!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have always seen math as an adventure where the process is discovering and solving puzzles. When you arrive at the solution, you win! My goal is to enable my students to see math the same way. My method is to incorporate into the middle school curriculum projects that create adventure themes that keep the students engaged.
