Raquel H. re: First Grade Common Core Math Spreadsheet
Can this spreadsheet work with spiraling tests that repeat the same same standard several different times a year? Thanks!

It's made for just one score per standard and I just changed the score and date as they went along. For what you want there are a few options. You could save the file with a different name for each time of the year if you know how to use excel, you could copy and paste each row for the amount of times you plan to test. Just make sure when you paste you keep all the formatting. If you let me know how many times you are going to record the data, I can see if I can modify the file for you.

I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products.

First, make a cover page for EVERY product you create which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail to entice buyers even if it is only one page. You are competing with over 25,000 followers, and you want them to notice your products. Move your advertising to the last page of the document. Buyers do not want to see that up front.

Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Here is how you do that. Use the insert and go to the right. You should see symbols there. Insert the copyright symbol, your name and date. It should look something like this: © V. Rauch (Scipi), 2011 Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also, number your pages.

It is important that we see what others are doing; so, feel free to look at any or all of my freebies listed below to gather some ideas. If you care to, a rating or any feedback you might have would be great.

Hi! I teach in Holladay, not far from you. :) I've never taken a Write Up a Storm class, but I do know some of the activities. I've been working with my 1st graders on nouns and verbs, using the red and green color coding from WUAS. I learned songs for each of those in my Student Teaching, but I have yet to find a good one for adjectives. Do you use the color coding and if so, do you have a song for the adjectives? I've attempted to be creative in coming up with my own, but it's just not working. :)

Hello,

I haven't taught the adjectives to my class yet. I couldn't get a good song last year, so we just chanted and I used the 5 senses. "Adjectives tell how something looks, sounds, smells, tastes or feels" as the students pointed to the respective body parts. I'm looking for songs and things as I go this year, so if I find something, I'll gladly share it with you. Send me an e-mail at joellwilkins@gmail.com if you want more information or to share resources. I have a noun song and a verb song that the kids love.

I do use the color coding. We are being trained in my school by Wilda and her training partner, Deb. Deb is the one who teaches K-1. Feel free to e-mail me if you want.

Thanks for writing,
Joell

Did you see the tabs at the bottom with the standards listed? You should be able to click on the tab to bring up the standards in that domain. All you should need to do is enter student names and scores.

Let me know if this works for you. I've never had an unhappy customer, so if we can't get it to work for you I will research to see if there's a way to get you your money back.

Sorry for the hassle,
Joell
