I finally got them downloaded and I discovered on one of them películas is spelled palículas and I can't change it. Could the author change it please? I LOVE the activities, but I can't use it with the misspelling. On my download it was the bottom one. It has the pictures for subject pronouns. THANKS!

Hello,

I have made the correction and the file is reloaded. There are no security blocks on the Powerpoint files so you should be able to modify any of the slides. Be sure have the Powerpoint in the create/edit mode rather than slideshow mode and you should be able to modify as if it were a WORD document.

Thank you,

I just verified that the file is correctly loaded and there have not been problems with others who have purchased this product. As this is a zip file you will need to make sure that you are able to open these files on your computer. It is likely that you don't have the necessary program. This requires a downloadable program such as Winzip. If you do not have this you can download it at: http://www.winzip.com/downwz.htm

I must be getting old... but could you expand on the instructions. The green part and the pink part are cut and placed on separate piles? My confusion is because they would have the answer if the not cut completely apart. I will play this game tomorrow... please respond soon.

Hello,

All the squares should be cut apart and the pink cards are placed face down (separated as in memory or concentration, not in pile). Do the same with green cards. Players choose one card from each group and try to match the subject/infinitive to the verb form and when there is a match the player says a complete sentence with the verb form and responses to the question words.

Hello,

Would you be able to clarify for me the difference between the circled "vous" pronouns and the non circled "tu" "vous" pronouns, I think I already might know why you chose to create the subject pronouns in this way, but I would like clarification.

Thanks!

Hello,

The circled pronouns are formal, so the "tu" is the finger pointing without the circle and the "vous" is the circled one. The same goes for the two uncircled fingers that demonstrates the informal plural "vous" and the two circled fingers demonstrate the formal plural "vous".

Thank you for checking in,

Hello,

You can really modify the rules any way that you would like. Get creative. I have done this with groups playing against each other with the board projected on the LCD or Smartboard. This involves the entire class at once. I typically have students get 3 in row, but it can be done with 2, 4 or even more. I find that 3 works well because this number gives them an opportunity to get points. 4 or more would give more opportunities to block the point.

Hello,

Thank you for the positive comment about this game. My students love it as well. I unfortunately don't have this in a color version because the majority of teachers only have access to black and white printing so I like to make the products accessible to this type of printing. I might suggest printing on colored paper to add some color to the game. I often color code the game cards by topic so that they don't get mixed up and I can easily identify them (Imperfect: green, Preterite:yellow, etc.)

Hello,

From the Help Menu:

The PDF I downloaded is showing black smudges, what do I do?
You just need to update your Adobe Reader:

If you are on a Mac, do not open with Preview. It will not work. Download the most updated version of Adobe Reader and open the PDF with it (and not Preview). To 'open with' adobe reader on a mac, highlight the product pdf icon with one click, go to 'file' at the top of the screen, choose 'open with' then select 'adobe' and you'll be all set.

Hello,

I appreciate your question. The problem with modifiable WORD documents is that if the buyer does not have the same version of WORD (MAC, PC, 2009, 2011, etc.) the spacing and images will be altered to the point of not being able to use it. This is the reason why I post in PDF because the format is set. I am happy to email the WORD versions of any product to the buyer after purchase of the PDF. The Crossword Puzzles must done from scratch each time because the words and the puzzle will be quite different, though the picture page could be easily modified for another language. If you purchase and activity in PDF and would like me to send you the WORD document, send me a message here with the email where you would like it sent and I will send it asap, and delete your message from this board so that your email is not left for all to see. Unfortunately, there is no way to send private messages through TPT.

Hello,

I have been using this particular map for several years. I use the image to put it in different documents because the spacing does not always work out in Word. I was not able to find the original Word document, but I made a new map document with the same layout and place names in Word for you. I am sending it to the email address that you provided. I would suggest that once you modify with the places you would like that you also capture a screen image of it to place in documents because the layout will surely pose some challenges. I hope that this helps and will provide you with what you need, and will also alleviate your initial disappointment when opening the document and finding that the map was a fixed image. I appreciate your understanding.

Hello,
The board has 100 squares and there are subjects and infinitives in each box.Students play against an opponent and choose a box. He then says or writes the correct verb form. If the opponent agrees that it is correct, the player gets to color in the square with his colored pencil. If the opponent does not agree with the response the teacher is summoned to verify. If the answer is not correct the player loses that turn. When a player gets three boxes in a row of his color he gets a point, which is recorded on the bottom. Each player has a different color and employs a blocking strategy to try to prevent the opponent from getting three boxes in a row. To avoid students agreeing on an incorrect answer the teacher must circulate and listen to verify among the groups. The pairing of students is important as well. My experience has been that due to the competitive nature the players will attempt to verify if there is a slight doubt because the opposing player could possibly lose the square and the questioning student could win it.

I hope this helps,

Hello,

I leave the prompt fairly open so that teachers can focus the writing to what their students are comfortable with. This prompt regarding a problem with a friend lends itself to using first (mon, ma, mes) and third (son, sa, ses, leur, leur) possessive adjectives when students are directed to focus on a personal issue.

For example:

Mon ami Jean n'a pas de bon rapport avec mes autres amis. Il n'aime pas partager ses ....

Ma copine n'a pas accepter mon invitation à ma fête d'anniversaire.

Hello,

Students place boats (filled in boxes) on the game board. Students play against another student and try to find and sink the boats of the opponent. There are subject Pronouns down the left side and infinitives across the top. To choose a square, the player must say the correct form of the verb corresponding the square that intersects the subject and infinitive. All of the necessary vocabulary (boat names, hit, sunk, miss, examples of how to say a sentence) are on the sheet for student reference. There are two grids for each player to use, one to put his/her own “boats” on and the other to keep track of the opponent.

Hello,

Parents are always asking for ways of helping their kids with the target language when they don't really speak it themselves. To help with this, I look at my curriculum for the year for a particular class and give the parents a sheet at BTSN that gives them suggestions as to what they can ask their kids to do each month based on what we will be studying. For example, in 7th grade, it says:

September: Ask your child to point out different stores and building in the target language that you pass by while driving (because we study the names of places in a city).

October: Ask your child to say what they are wearing when you see them in the morning and to describe the colors (because we study clothing vocabulary).

Some parents have told me that they put this paper on their refrigerator to remind them to ask each month. It is fairly quick to put together based on your curriculum for the year and it can be used each year at BTSN.

I hope that this helps. I'm impressed that you are already thinking about BTSN in the fall.

Would it be possible to have a version of this just with verbs conjugated with avoir, both regular and irregular? We have not gotten to the Vandertramp verbs yet, but I still have a fair amount of students that still need practice with verbs conjugated with avoir.

Thanks!

Marcy Webb re: Spanish Speaking Activity :Stem-Cange Verbs (Memory with Sentences)
Does the player also need to match the subject with the correct verb form? My guess would be yes, but, you don't state this in your explanation of instructions. Please advise.

Hello,
Yes, the player should find the correct verb form that matches the subject/infinitive pair. When a match is found the play must say a sentence using the question words as prompts. At that point the player "wins" the two cards. Please me know if yo need further clarification.

Thank you for checking in,

The possessive adjective activity is posted:

You found the only other product that I have with possessive adjectives, which shows me that I need to work on more activities in this area.

Thank you for being in touch.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching World Language (French, Spanish, Italian) at the elementary, middle and high school levels for 16 years. I regularly present foreign language teaching methodology workshops at state, regional and national conferences and in teacher preparation programs at various universities. I have spent time volunteering in schools in impoverished areas of Nicaragua and a portion of the money earned through TPT is used to buy school supplies (pencils, paper, books) for students at the Panama School in La Concha, Nicaragua. Learn more about the school HERE. I am also working on curriculum development with schools in Haiti and will dedicate a portion of your purchase in this area as well.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am very communicative in my approach and rely very little on textbook materials. I enjoy creating authentic speaking and writing activities for students and you will find many of these activities on this site. I maintain a site on foreign language teaching ideas. Be sure to check it out for some great resources. Visit my website here.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been working closely with state (MA, NH, NY, NJ), regional (NECTFL) and national (ACTFL, NNELL)language organizations for over 10 years. I have have had a number of responsibilities from chairing exhibit hall and advertising efforts to directing language strands and presenting workshops at institutes and conferences.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am Franco-American of Canadian descent. I have a DEUG (Diplome, d'Etudes Universitaires Generales), a BA in French and Italian and an MA in Applied Linguistics with a research focus on psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics and second language acquisition. I have traveled, lived and studied in Europe, Canada, the Carribean and Latin America and have a strong interest in language policy and cultural enrichment.
