I teach Regular & Inclusion English III (Juniors); College (English 1010) & Honors English III (Juniors); College (English 1020) & Honors English IV (Seniors); and Regular & Inclusion English IV (Seniors). I am also my school's Benchmark Coordinator. In this position, I create all of the major benchmark tests in English, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics, which are aligned to standards chosen by the individual teachers. I have also taught English 1010 as an adjunct at Austin Peay State University.
The products in my catalog are appropriate for classes of any length, because I spend no more than 20 minutes on any one activity (with a few rare exceptions). I teach on 4x4 Block Scheduling (3 90-minute blocks per day), so my instruction is based around having a lot of instructional time to fill. However, the PowerPoints and other materials I sell can easily be modified to fit your schedule. I am an experimenter. I collect methodologies, use them, collect student feedback, assess losses/gains from tests, and then I start over. I am extremely data-driven and results-based. I use PowerPoints set to timers to guide my class. Currently, 20 minutes out of every 180 class minutes is spent on lecture material, providing content knowledge (terms, definitions, facts, etc.) and the rest of the class is activity-based. I would appreciate constructive criticism of the PowerPoints. They are designed for my teaching style and my class, so they won't be optimal for everyone else. However, if you purchase the actual file, you can modify it to suit your needs. All graphics and other art in these PowerPoints was found in the public domain to the best of my knowledge. I have tried to remove any items that would be inappropriate to include in a commercial item. If something has escaped my attention, please let me know.
I am the Benchmark/Testing Director at our high school, so I am very much concerned with data analysis, testing methodology, instructional practices, and standards alignment.

My PowerPoints come in categories: Content Knowledge, Activities, Review. My Assessments are based on the Bloom's categories: Quizzes (Knowledge & Comprehension) and Tests (Analysis & Evaluation). I engage students in the Application & Synthesis areas during the Activities segment of instruction. I follow the Best Practices recommendation of Introduction --> Modeling --> Guided Practice --> Independent Practice --> Collaboration --> Assessment. I have spent the past year looking at practice tests for standardized tests, which has led me to conclude that tests should follow roughly this pattern: 25% (5 out of 20) Knowledge Questions, 30% (6 out of 20) Comprehension Questions, 45% (9 out of 20) Analysis Questions, with one Evaluation Question (added on to the end of the test). I am currently collecting data on student achievement to find out if student scores on standardized tests will improve if their in-class tests follow this format. I model my teaching and assessment toward the single skill I believe every student needs for any future: critical thinking.
