I'm not sure why you are having a printing difficulty. When you look at the file in page preview, does it show that the bottom row is on the second sheet? When I opened the file, it still is showing all four cards on one page.

Divisibility rule for 8 is wrong on the freebie. You have that a number is divisible by 8 if it is divisible by BOTH 2 and 4. This is incorrect. 12 is divisible by both 2 and 4, but not by 8. 4 is divisible by both 2 and 4 but not by 8. The correct divisibility rule for 8 is that the last three digits have to be evenly divisible by 8.

FYI, When you print page 5 & 6 back to back they don't match correctly. rules for 2 are under 3. You need to reverse the columns on page 6 so when you print and fold them, otherwise you have 3 on left and 2 on right on your front page and 2 on left with 3 on right under the tabs. Hope that makes sense.

I created it so that it would be printed double-sided. You may need to play around with the settings on your printer to make it work right. My printer has me "flip on the short edge". You don't need to do double-sided to use it, however. For my students, I found it very useful to have lines on the inside to provide them with an edge to separate each note. I have included pages with the notes pre-printed (for those that have fine motor difficulties) and a page that can be cut out and glued in the blanks. I hope this helps!

I don't know how to write it nicely but for the 8 rule you could have them actually divide by 4 then see if the result is divisible by 2. ex. 128/4 = 32 which is divisible by 2 so 128 is divisible by 8, 132/4 = 33 which is not divisible by 2 so it is not divisible by 8. It works with using smaller numbers too. 12/4 = 3 which is not divisible by 2 so 12 is not divisible by 8. Or if you think it is easier, have them divide by 2 first and then check the rule for 4. I use the placement tests to figure out where to start the kids. The first test that they "fail" is where I start them. I just start them at the first level on that test and let them go from there. Sometimes, they pass the first few levels quickly, but then they slow down a bit when they get to the facts they are truly struggling with. I hope this helps!

I would absolutely start it at the beginning of the year! The program usually takes a bit longer during the first week, while the students learn the routine, but then moves much faster. My students could do the entire procedure (oral practice with a partner and one minute timed drill) in less than 10 minutes. Your biggest amount of time will be spent organizing and making sure the kids have the correct test and grading them each day.

Hello! I want to teach a mystery unit with my 4th grade book clubs and love this idea. I purchased it, not having a Smart Board, hoping I could still print off the documents and pull it off. Is that possible? There are some applications I am unable to open like: Mystery Unit Notebook and Thumbs. Will I still be able to use this unit?

There are tons of things to do that are not on the SMARTboard! In addition, if you visit their website (I believe it is www.smarttech.com), there is a free version of their software you can download, if you are interested. You will not be able to open the Notebook file without that software.

Thank you for the free downloads today! I teach Kindergarten and many of them will work perfectly in my classroom. Unfortunately, one of them had a bad link--Product Name: Kindergarten Roundup: Math Games Based on Common Core Standards--and I got the substitute info instead! Since we are using the CCS, I was really looking forward to this download! It is a modified version ( I received permission from the company to modify it). I teach in a resource room and needed a simplified program. I did not use their same skill sets or sequence - in fact, I've only seen some samples of their program.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
This is my 11th year teaching. I have taught in an inclusion setting as well as a resource room setting. I often tutor children and adults in math and reading.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I prefer to introduce a topic, main idea, or small set of vocabulary words and then have the students use that knowledge in games or creative activities.

2008 - I wrote a book called "Coordinate Graphing Hidden Pictures" that was published by Carson-Dellosa.

I have a bachelor's degree in special education and a master's degree in elementary reading and literature.

I have been married for 13 years. I have a 6-year-old son and a 1-year-old baby boy. In my spare time, I love to read and play games with my family. I HATE to clean house (but oddly enough my classroom is nice and tidy!).
