This rubric addresses the mechanics of writing. The Common Core for writing in second grade does not address the mechanics of writing (beginning with a capital, ending with punctuation, etc). I love this activity but am finding the meausrements to be off...like inbetween the fraction of inches. At first I thought they were to measure the box around the item not the actually item, but that isnt' working. I've tried the ruler that comes with our curriculm, but that isn't working either. What am I missing?

This problem has happened a couple of times now. From what I have found on Google, I think there is a problem between Adobe and certain kinds of printers. The people who had the same problem before have told me that once they restarted their computers and printers that they were able to print. Let me know if that doesn't work.

This is the strangest problem, and I don't understand why it's happening. It has happened twice before. Both of them were able to print it once they restarted their computers/printers. I googled it, and that is what I found on google, as well. I confuses me as to why some pages would print and not others. Let me know if restarting doesn't work, and we'll figure out what to do next. I'm so sorry you're having a problem.

When your notebook file is open, there is a tab along the left or right-hand side that has a paperclip icon on it. This is where the attached file is. The last page will automatically reset when you close the program, or when you navigate to a different page in the file (for example, you are on page 7, you go back to page 5, and then go back to page 7). I hope that makes sense. Oh, FYI (very important!!), don't save the changes when you exit out of the program unless you have made deliberate changes that you want to keep.

I just bought this file. I think it will work well with reinforcing the measurement practice. I'm having trouble with page 8 (with the carrot picture on it). It will not print for myself or another team member. We've tried printing from different computers to different printers and are having no luck. Is there anything you can do to help us?

Are all of the standards labeled "reading" at the bottom, or is the label for each section at the bottom. For example, instead of "reading", does it say "speaking and listening" or " writing" or "language"?

Only the reading objectives have reading at the bottom. The writing objectives have clip art with scrabble tiles that say "I 'heart' writing. The speaking and listening standards have a curly-Q design on them, while the language standards have a branch design on them. I will work on getting a preview copy up.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught in public schools for 15 years. I have experience in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade, but have also worked with children in K, 4th, and 5th. I spent two years teaching a bilingual class, and four teaching ESL. Two evenings a week, I teach as an adjunct professor at the local university; working with pre-service teachers and teachers continuing their education on how to incorporate second language strategies into their classroom instruction.
