Fantastic product! Sorry, I asked this question in my comment as I didn't realize I could ask it here. On page 48 for the word list, you have the word buise. Do you mean Bruise? Hi Tom- I have. I am on vacation but when I get back I'd like to do some research. I'm just very protective of the MT&T brand will have to be sure that whatever is created is very high quality and educationally accurate in all respects. So, it's difficult to think of partnering with someone I do not personally know. I have though about creating several of the activities into an app in the past, but there is a lot involved- for example, the voice part of the app and then the response for correct/incorrect answers. Sorry for the delay, but creating a high quality app will be complicated and I really need to think about it and talk with others. Julie

Hi,

I would like to purchase the "Phonemic Awareness Intervention Kit for Teachers". I will be using it to work with a child who is slightly delayed in oral and receptive language, as part of one of my graduate classes. So, I am on a budget. The shipping charge is a lot for me. Having been a kindergarten teacher, I have most of the manipulatives.

I see it comes with the following:
In addition to 125 printed pages on cardstock, this kit also includes the following materials: race cars, balls, cups, magnetic bingo chips, colored bingo chips, plastic counting squares, dog bones, craft sticks, envelopes and baggies for storage and Sterilite container

*I only need the items below. Would it be possible to get a price and shipping adjustment for the items I need? Please let me know, so that I may order as soon as possible.

-125 printed pages on cardstock
-race cars
-balls
-magnetic bingo chips

Thank you for your time,

Pam N. re: Classroom Sized Bunny Feet Sight Word Game Board
Hi! These are so cute! My kiddos would really enjoy this! What an awesome way to practice those sight words! Just have a few questions- about how many kids do you have play this at one time? And do they roll a dice to determine how many words to hop on? How is it played? Do they have to read the word before they can hop to the next one? Please explain.
March 16, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
n/a
Julie Van Alst  (TpT Seller)
Hi Pam- it's played just like you play if it were on a regular game board. I would not use it with more than 2-3 players at a time as you don't want children standing too long waiting (actually another player can help with the dice). It would be ideal for center rotations as a center activity. So one child can hold the dice, give it to a child who rolls (let's say a 3)- that student moves up 3 feet and reads the word that he/she lands on. The next player takes a turn and does the same thing. The first player to the end winds. You really don't need to use the feet as a "game"- you can just have students hop from word to word as they read the word. If you use them this way, you can have more children hopping around on the feet. Hope this helps. There's no strict rules on how to use the feet. Thanks.

Lisa M. re: Dolch Sight Word Assessment and Progress Monitoring Materials
Hi,

I had a question about where these word lists came from. I have cross-referenced them with two other Dolch lists (I was using bits and parts of multiple resources) and this list does not include all Dolch words. I have a spreadsheet that shows the differences between lists.

In addition, some words that are listed as pre-primer on other Dolch lists are in list 5, 6, or 7 within your resource. This happens with other "levels" of words as well.

Thanks,

Lisa

Hi Lisa- this is the list that our districts use and the list came from the Teacher Reading Academy which was connected with our Reading First initiative. They did not divide the lists into pre-primer, primer, first, etc. but into 9 lists of 25 which are, from my understanding, ordered by frequency. Hope this helps. This summer I'll pull other lists to see how they correlate. Thanks. Julie

Hi- Most of the pictures are the same, but the Robin's Nest is a recent activity and I have gathered some more digraph pictures since that time- so some may be different. There are really only so many words that can be represented with a picture and I think I have most of them that children can easily recognize for these sounds. If I had to break down the lists into pre-primer, primer, first, and second, is there any particular order in which the words were chosen? THANKS!
February 27, 2014 Report inappropriate comment

Julie Van Alst  (TpT Seller)
The Dolch 220 sight words are ordered by frequency. This is the list that our districts use and they were presented at the Teacher's Reading Academy (Reading First Initiative). Instead of breaking them down into pre-primer, primer, first, second, we have benchmark goals for numbers expected. So by end of K we expect at least 25, by end of 1st- 175 and by mid-second all 220. I do think, however, you can find the same words broken down into pre-primer, primer… lists. You may want to do a google search. Hope this helps. Julie

In addition, the files are quite large and when I've bundled large files in the past, the graphics can go a bit funky. Maybe I'll try three of four. Thanks for bringing this up. There are 32 race car tracks with words and then a page of blank tracks for you to copy and write your own words. You may want to check out the Activities on the Go! Blending product too. It's the same idea, but a different style of race tracks. Hope this helps. Julie

Brandy P. re: Valentine Rhyme Match
These would be so great if the students could color them instead of printing them in color. Let me know if you ever change it and/or add a black and white version.

Thank you!

Kathy B. re: Activities on the Go!- Syllables
Can you tell me the sizes of the pictures in the kits. We have to have pictures that are 3x3 inches at our centers because some students have vision problems.

The pictures vary depending on the activity. The cards in the cases where there is a dry erase marker are 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 -- that's the size of the card with the border and the pic is contained in the border. There are activities where the cards are smaller (syllables, segmentation and short vowels)- those cards are 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Hopes this helps. Julie

Hi Judy- I am currently adding more file folder activities and will bundle them eventually once I have them all made. I'm making file folder activities for phonics and vocabulary and will likely bundle all the phonics ones together and all the vocabulary ones together. There's probably about 10 more phonics ones I'm going to develop. Hope to have them done by the end of the month. Hope this helps. Julie

Jann W. re: Activities on the Go!- Blending
Hi Julie,
Such a great idea! My question is do you have a bundle available to purchase all of the activities on the go or do you have to purchase each individually?
Thanks!!!

Hi Jann- I don't have them bundled yet, but plan to bundle them in groups of 4 or 5. The activities have a lot of graphics and if the file size is too large sometimes the graphics get distorted. I have the first 4 almost ready to go. Thanks for asking. Julie

I purchased you alphabet kit last year for my daughter and it is great. Right now, she is in Kindergarten and struggling with reading. Her teacher would like her to practice reading strategies like tapping sounds in words and getting her mouth ready for longer words.

My daughter does not seem to look at the letters and try to sound them out. Do you have any suggestions on which products to use? I'm thinking of going all the way back to phonemic awareness instead of trying decoding. She still doesn't have all her letters down either.

Thanks for any input!

Hi- If her teacher would like her to practice segmenting the sounds, I'd recommend the Breaking Up Words activity and the Squaring Up activity. I have a blog post on phonemic awareness that has other activities and if you send me an email I'll send you the link (julie.vanalst@gmail.com). I'd still work on letters/sounds- try using multis-sensory strategies like forming letters with play doh. I have a blog post on that too and I'll be happy to send you the link. Hope this helps. Sorry it took a bit to reply. Julie

Love the Football Addition freebie. Any chance that you are making a similar game using 3 dice?
Thanks,

If I have a few moments, I can certainly work on it. Right now I'm working on a large project, but will put it on my to-do list. Julie
