We don't use Treasures in my district, but I still found this product to be really useful in my classroom. They are a good fit for a first grade poetry center.

This is such a great collection of poems to use! My school requires us to come up with our own curriculum for a lot of reading/writing standards. This was such a fun way to introduce 1st graders to poetry and get them reading it at home too.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I've taught Pre-Kindergarten for 9 years, Kindergarten for 3 years, Third Grade for 1 year, First Grade for 4 years....and finally, Second Grade! I got to loop with 12 of my 1st Grade students and I have 8 new ones.
MY TEACHING STYLE
As any good teacher knows, all students do not learn in the same way. In addition, it is common for a class of students to be at a variety of levels in any particular subject. Teachers need to use different teaching methods in order to reach all students effectively. A variety of teaching strategies, a knowledge of student levels, and an implementation of which strategies are best for particular students can help teachers to know which teaching methods will be most effective for their class.
HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT
I haven't won, but I was nominated for Teacher of the Year these past couple of years. It may sound corny, but just to be nominated is an honor. :)
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
BA in History/Education, Russell Sage College (1990) MSEd in EC/Primary Education, NSU (2003) EdD, Child, Youth, and Human Services, in Early Childhood (Finished all the coursework...but sadly did not finish dissertation)
ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
I was drawn to the teaching profession because I enjoy working with children. I view teaching as a constant challenge that is seldom, if ever, boring. The realization that a teacher can introduce children to new worlds of information and open up new possibilities daily was motivation in itself for me to select teaching as a profession many years ago.
