The test is a cumulative test over the entire story. I used it in my independent reading program. With so many different books being read by so many different students, I needed quizzes to check on who read what book before giving them credit. I tried, as much as possible, to use higher level comprehension in the T/F statements. Thanks for your inquiry. Hope your school year is going well.

Debbie Gomez  (TpT Seller) re: Great Gilly Hopkins novel quiz, Great Gilly Hopkins novel test
I am interested in KABOB. If I bought the whole program, what would the cost be? If I bought the program without the quizzes, what would the cost be? Or is that possible?

Thanks for your interest. Everything is sold separately. The KABOB Independent Reading Program is divided into 10 parts, each bought separately. Here are the 10 KABOB program parts: (1) Reading folder $3.25, (2) Reading incentive games $2.00, (3) Fiction info worksheets $2.50, (4) Nonfiction info worksheets $1.25, (5) Short story and Poetry info worksheets $2.25, (6) Debriefing papers $2.50, (7) Booktalk Powwow forms and Book Bag Report $2.25, (8)Teacher forms $2.75, (9) Reading discussions and bookclub forms $2.00, and (10) the Reading Frenzy poster $1.25. Total $22.00.
You don't need to purchase all of the parts to get the idea of the program. I'm thinking parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 which totals to $13.50, would give you a good idea of how I worked the program. The tests are all sold separately. Just look through my store. The light blue icon with the kabob stick going through it is the KABOB program. Most of the other items are the tests with the word KABOB going through the icon. You could use your own tests. You might figure out a way to check the kids comprehension without tests. Hope you're having a successful school year! If you have any more questions, please ask. Thanks again!

What format is this.... Multiple choice or true/false. I have several of your novel quizzes on my wish list, but I would love to see a sample before I purchase. Also, do you have more details on your KABOB program. We incorporated a 40 BOOK CHALLENGE last year, but we're looking to revamp it. Please email me jstraughan@conroeisd.net
I would love to ask you additional questions about your quizzes/KABOB program!

The novel tests are true/false. They were used as a check for my independent reading program: KABOB (Keep A Book OnBoard). When my store page gets back online, you will find KABOB explained (they're reworking the TpT website). I have lots of activities that go into the KABOB program that lead to higher level thinking. The tests were just a check to be sure the students read the books. Also download my 3 free tests, and you'll get an idea of what the novel tests look like. Please keep in touch. I loved working my KABOB program in 5th and 6th grade, and the kids responded to it very well. I was able to get them to like, if not love, reading before I sent them to junior high. Your 40 BOOK CHALLENGE sounds interesting. I'd like to hear more about it. Maybe some of my KABOB program would fit into it.
Thanks for your questions. Ask more!

About Our Company

I have 27 years of classroom experience in four different socio-economic school districts. Most of those years were spent in 5th and 6th grade as a language arts teacher. I was a reading specialist for two years, but found I missed the excitement and variety of the classroom.>>>I've encountered every type of reader or nonreader there is. Their reading habits are unique! Thanks to them my teaching style reflects many ideas, devices, and programs that appeal to students. When possible, I have taken corporate America seriously and tried to incorporate activities which allow students to work together to achieve a goal.>>>I was teaching in a large school district when the school superintendent and a school board member came into my room during class. Fortunately they came to give me an award as an Educator Achieving Excellence. I received an eloquent speech, a fine plaque, and a write-up with my picture in the local paper. It felt good to be acknowledged. My students were excited for me too. I had a supportive staff congratulate me. It was a day I treasure.>>>Since my retirement I have created a company called KABOB, Language Arts, Inc. KABOB stands for Keep A Book OnBoard. That's what I called my independent reading program. It allowed my students to have greater success becoming strong, confident, avid, happy readers.>>>My KABOB Independent Reading Program is now on TpT. I have divided it into several parts allowing the customer to choose the parts that are of interest to them. Also on TpT you will find 222 novel quizzes I used with KABOB. They are simple quizzes for the students to prove to you that they read the book. I attempted to create questions covering as many levels of comprehension as possible. I've decided to put my Tour de Poetry Unit on TpT also. My students had lots of fun creating poetry using this unit. Just type KABOB is the search box. Hope you have a successful teaching career!>>>B.S. Elem. Ed.-University of Texas at Austin; M. Ed.-University of Houston, Central Campus; Summer Workshop-University of the Americas, Mexico City
