JoNelle Gardner  (TpT Seller) re: Fourth Grade Technology--5th ed: 32 Lessons Every Fourth Grader Can Do
Hi Kali, I just purchased Fourth Grade Technology--5th ed: 32 Lessons Every Fourth Grader Can Do
I also purchased the 5th grade level digital version.
Q: Will you offer the digital version of the 4th grade level?

I am a long time technology teacher, but have never put all of my lessons into a book form as you have done - thanks!! I may purchase more, but want to begin with these.

I cannot view your product even though I have Abobe Master Suite and Adobe Pro. It probably should be delivered in a more universally usable format. In addition, I oredered "5 Projects to Teach Problem Solving" and "5 Projects to Integrate Technology in Math" and I got the same article and no lessons!

That's odd. You should also have 5 lesson plans. I think all you're seeing is the intro. If you would email me at askatechteacher@gmail.com, I'll send the lessons separately. Would you remind me you're from TPT and should get the "5 Projects to Teach Problem Solving" and "5 Projects to Integrate Technology in Math".

I'm sorry about that--don't know what happened.

Donna Meehan re: THE KEY TO ALIGNING YOUR K-5 CLASS WITH COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS
I am a tech coach for K-5 and I am looking for ways to help the teachers integrate technology into the modules they will be teaching from come September. Would this book help me with that?
Also, are there iPad resources for implementing?
May 17, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Kali Delamagente the Tech Teacher
Yes! This would be a great book for that. There are 5 projects per grade, Common Core aligned. They are highly-adaptable to any inquiry being pursued in the classroom. The grade-level textbooks would be a step up, with 32 projects per grade (and organized as a curriculum, which it doesn't sound like you need).

No iPad resources yet--great idea.

Shelli Burks  (TpT Seller) re: 1st Grade Technology (5th Ed): 32 Lessons Every 1st Grader Can Accomplish
So should I wait a week to download the 5th edition? I will be purchasing the digital download version. Also- is there a student version of materials that are needed to be purchased or the worksheets and materials are for both student and teacher? To make sure I get all the extras that come with the 5th edition? I can't wait to download each grade level.
May 1, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Kali Delamagente the Tech Teacher
Hi Shelli

I have the 5th edition version up for 1st-5th. I haven't gotten the cover back from the publisher yet for kindergarten, but I'm hoping that will be tonight.

I think the 5th edition is wonderful--Common Core alignment, more integration into classroom content, more assessments. They are all much longer--70-100% longer!

I'd say download 1-5 anytime, and check back for kindergarten. 6th grade won't be upgraded until next year.

7th grade is coming in June so watch for that, too!

Thanks, Shelli!

Kali Delamagente the Tech Teacher
Hi Karen

It's only for 5th grade. It's project-based learning. Students learn skills through projects. The focus is on integration into class units through technology. The projects can be used as presented or tweaked to fit your themes. For example, students explore the planet with Google Earth--you can focus on the geography that could have impacted colonial America during this lesson.

If you want projects that cover K-8, you might prefer the two-volume Toolkit (http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/55-Technology-Projects-for-the-Digital-Classroom-Vol-I)

Does that help?

Hi! I know the grade levels aren't organized well in my store here. You can find a list of 1st grade lessons/books here (http://structuredlearning.net/search/1stgradebooks.html). You can find the one you want and then buy it in the store here or on the website.

In a nutshell, the 5 Common Core projects for 1st grade are perfect, as well as the 5 digital extendors.

Here are a few other options:

Hello! My apologies for that. The numbered projects are from my two-volume project book (all projects organized by grade, tool, and topic). Here are the two links:

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/55-Technology-Projects-for-the-Digital-Classroom-Vol-II

In the curriculum, you won't need additional books if you have the K-6 texts and are following basically in order. There are options for other lesson plans, but not required.

I hope that helps!

I've never done that, but I don't see any reason why not. The focus is on skills, not software.

1st grade doesn't have any lessons that use Word/PowerPoint/Excel that would be similar in Open Office. They concentrate on KidPix (which you can also use TuxPaint for) and Type to Learn Jr (which can be replaced with online typing programs from the appendix).

This bundle is 4 lessons to teach keyboarding in the classroom. I believe the other customer got confused over the Table of Contents I include in each bundle. Its only purpose is to show all lessons available, either in bundles or in a book.

If that's confusing, please ignore the Table of Contents and look only at the bundles. That should take care of it.

Your tech guys can do it for just the price of some cables. They can connect your monitor to display through a TV screen. That's the cheapest and easiest way. Then, whatever you do on your monitor will show up on the classroom screen. I can show students how to draw a project in KidPix on the classroom screen from my computer, or show them where tools are for a skill. Very convenient. With the free Jing Screencast, I can take a video of the steps and let them play it from their computers.

I wish I had a picture of my old TV, but really all you'd see is... well... an old TV. Good luck!

Do you know if I could present smart board activities on a computer or TV screen assuming I could get the IT department to plug the program into my computer. I'm hoping it would not cost them anything to do this as money is always an issue.....many thanks, Kristen Miller

Hi Kristen

I display my computer screen on a drop-down screen (which replaced the TV I used to have) because I also don't have a SmartBoard (everyone in the school has one except the computer teacher!). I can augment my desktop with one of the free Whiteboards (like Scriblink at http://www.scriblink.com/) if I want to draw something.

Was there a particular activity you wanted to share? Maybe I have a work-around for it.

Will you let me now when you have technology books available for 6th-8th grades or middle school? I teach K-8th in the computer lab. I'm using the K-5th grade books this year. They are a big help to me. It's the first time I've had a coordinated curriculum for computers.

Yes, I will. Thanks for asking. Would you send me your email address? I'm at kali.delamagente@structuredlearning.net. It's in the works for maybe next year. Until then, you might enjoy the 55 Technology Projects toolkit or the topic-specific bundles.

I'm glad you're enjoying the books.

Hi Kali,
This is my first year teaching a quarter long technology class. Two of my quarters I teach 6th grade, and the other two I teach 7th grade. Which of your resources would you recommend purchasing? For my 7th graders, I really want the class to stand out and be a class they look forward to. Any tips? Thanks!

The second volume of 55 Technology Projects for the Digital Classroom. It covers more for older grades and more about Web 2.0 topics (wikis, blogs, etc.). Another option might be to select a theme--like Photoshop--and buy that collection of 5 integrated projects rather than all 55 project.

You can see previews on Amazon and Freado or on the publisher's website, structuredlearning.net.

Hope that helps!

Hi Anna

Almost all of the lessons in Kindergarten Technology are for pre-readers. If you'd like to view some of the lessons, you can go here: http://structuredlearning.net/freebies/samplekindergartenpages.html. There are a few sample lessons as well as a look-inside of the book from Scribd. See if that helps. If not, let me know.

Anna Colley  (TpT Seller) re: Kindergarten Technology: 5th Edition--32 Technology Lessons Every K Can Do
I have just started teaching a computer lab class to students in Headstart and Pre-K (3 and 4 year olds). Do you have any resources for younger students who are just being introduced to computers for the first time, for instance, basic mouse and keyboard skills for pre-readers? Are any of the lessons in this packet (kindergarten technology) appropriate for that age group? Thanks!

I'm sorry, Anna. Somehow I missed your question. My blog has some great free websites for younger kids just starting on mouse use. Here's a list of four that my last year kids loved (http://askatechteacher.wordpress.com/2009/09/16/four-online-sites-to-teach-mouse-skills/). Why don't you subscribe to my blog. I'll be posting a new set of four this year in the next few weeks. I found some I think are great.

For keyboarding for youngers, I love Type to Learn Jr. and Big Brown Bear typing. Very fun. Here's a lesson plan for keyboarding (http://askatechteacher.wordpress.com/2009/12/29/5-best-online-keyboarding-programs/) and here are ten tips I've collected over the years that have made a significant difference in the progress of my students in keyboarding (http://askatechteacher.wordpress.com/2010/05/13/ten-best-keyboarding-hints-youll-ever-see/).

Hope that helps.

I didn't have a chance to look at all of the bundles, but I was interested in the Keyboarding bundle.

Most of them--95%--are included in the two-volumes of the 55+ toolkit. Is there a particular one you're wondering about?
