Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I don't know a lot about the Hamners ancient history. The more recent history from the 20th century, is that they had roots in California. Northern and Central Valley mostly. We went to a family reunion two years ago and all of my sons cousins are blond and blue eyed just like him!
I have taught in Lompoc for 10 years. Prior to moving here I tutored privately and worked for both Upward Bound and as an America Reads tutor. I also have three children, two of whom are adults and one in middle school and my husband and I coach little league baseball in the fall season, known as Fall-Ball. I am also the technology coach at our site and a trainer for our district adopted writing program which is how I got started on developing my own program to teach writing.
I use lots of technology. All of my students learn Excel,PowerPoint, and Publisher. I use humor a lot and have reputation with the kids of being "funny". I love my job and I love the kids and they know it!
I won an award in 2003 given out by our PTA for the most contributions to the school in that year and in 2004 took my students to the Technology showcase in our county with the only elementary class where we took second place for our PowerPoint Presentations on Californias Missions.
I graduated from UCSB with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, from Chapman Univeristy with my Mulitple Subject Teaching Credential and a Masters of Education in Teaching. I also hold a GATE Certification from UCSB.
